First enable USB debugging on your phone and connect it to the computer. Then follow the steps described in the video.
Commands used:
1. adb devices

I'm not all that much of a noob but still pretty new. All I know, as of this point, is I can't back up anything without something like TWRP. I can't get something like TWRP unless I rooted my phone or "backed it up". LOL I can't root my phone without TWRP. HAHAHAHAHAHA

@@8MCDonalds8 Yeah you need to backup using a pc or an app like "backup titanium". I think you may be able to backup to the cloud as well but im not positive
I repeated the whole procedure staying in OSX (one OS less) and I observed the same behaviour: After the device was put into download mode, it was visible as USB connected device but not visible anymore by "fastboot devices" ... so I am stuck.

Probably got taken down, I thought something didn't seem right here, the guy in the video blatantly lied at one point, OEM option does NOT delete everything off your phone at all, at least not until you connect it to the computer and actually flash another image to it, but that goes without saying 🤣
Try XDA, they're far more trustworthy, I use them a lot, here's one of the last pages I visited for a universal flash tool that can be used with just the Android system itself 😊

Funny, I've had at least a dozen different Samsung phones and several Sony phones and not a single one ever immediately deleted anything, so I'm unsure why anyone would think that, I'm currently using a Sony Xperia Z5 and that too doesn't immediately delete anything, although I understand that's not the point you're trying to make.
Which obscure version of Samsung are you using that I seem to have missed? In my experience OEM Unlock literally just unlocks the ability to flash a new image without the need of a PC, flashing using the SD card, I'm not going to try and say I'm any kind of expert on the matter but the evidence is insurmountable imo, out of the uncountable amount of phones I've had not ONE which has the OEM Unlock option has ever immediately deleted anything on any phone, that's what the Factory Reset option is for, is it not? Or am I missing something that makes it necessary to have the exact same function in 2 different places in your menu but under 2 completely different names? 🤦♂️

Make sure proper drivers are installed, and try restarting your phone & computer before giving it another go.

I do feel this is a bit of false information. Not every single phone out there has an official TWRP recovery build. The only ones that get official builds are the ones that people actually know about and buy. You're not going to get a TCL LX custom recovery, let alone a custom ROM.

Hi! So I have this problem I did all steps as well as put the files in the root of internal storage but when I do fastboot boot recovery.img it just puts the phone back on to normal doesn't go to bootloader or TWRP

Make sure device drivers are properly installed. And check if you are using the right command format for your terminal window.
its simple right click on the folder that you unzipped then select open with command prompt here.. that should work now... type adb devices....

not sure if you still replying to comments here but i kinda need help when i do the "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.3-0-i9500.img" command line it says "< waiting for any device >" even after i confermed a connection with the "adb devices" command. the cmd window will just soft lock at this point and not allow me to proceed (i tryed using powershell but to no ovail.).

@@LeMarin96 Sideload will not work for every device. The command fastboot flash recovery the name of your.img will work on every device. Just recheck you may have entered the file name wrong.
And also waiting for device means your device is not properly connected just make your usb debugging asks you to allow and then type adb devices to see your whether device is listed or not. It should show you a random code listed.

@viperstudioshass did you try opening a command window in the tools folder and running as admin from there. It's what I had to do- I couldn't get recognized if I used the CMD prompt search bar in windows shortcuts.

If u plug ur device to the computer u need to first have it on to Allow the computer access to ur phone files etc. But also in the developer settings u need to have USB debugging on
