I think you can put on pause from Gcode, it will ask you to do resume automatically. I think with proper Gcode you can put on pause in a specific point, push yhe filament out, ask you to insert the new one, extrude fore some seconds and finish the job.

I don't know why, but Creality didn't configure the M600 command with the Ender 3 firmware. You can compile some custom Marlin with this command to automate a lot of the processes of color changing, but admittedly it's a bit more involved...

Maybe someone can put a video up showing step by step instructions on how to do it. It's a bit above my pay scale.

@@valdi1214 just need to install MRISCOC firmware, but need a 32bit board for it (like the v4.2.2)

i do multiple colors easy, properly configured, the slicer sends the command to eject filament, put new one, purge, continue printing

You can increase the speed and decrease the noise by upgrading the 8bit Ender 3 motherboard to the 32bit board.
I bought this for my E3Pro: Ender 3 Silent Motherboard Upgrade V4.2.7 Mainboard Control Board.
You can then install Marlin Firmware and run OctoPrint (I use octopi on Raspberry Pi), for easy print management.

Thanks for the info. I’m not a serious user but someone will find your comment helpful.

dude you don't have to power down.
    1. Be ready with new filament.
    2. Pause and pull-out old filament.
    3. Feed new filament and hit resume.
    That's it

Put a video up. That doesn’t work on mine which is why I uploaded the video to help others that may have the same issue.

Or you can just reflash your firmware and add color change gcode. There are a lot of videos on how to do it. For example: kFRy_5lh2IQ
May be you have 8bit board, I do not know, this may be a bit harder.
What you do is some stone age thing. Why do you pause at all? It prints very slowly. Just take away filament and change it on the fly. = )
