    I am here as a man was attacked on the red line CTA in Chicago. He just used this as a self defense knife to fight off 5-6 people who tried to rob his cell phone. This was the knife he used as defense. Great job on the video.

    A beard like a campfire.
    And this little blade is also very impressive.

    I've the Persian and Warncliff versions. Though the steel is nowhere near as good as my higher end knives it is very, very easy to resharpen so it's good for a beginner. Nice video, thanks.

    I've used this as both a belt and a neck knife, and I think there are scenarios where I prefer the belt over the neck and vice versa. If I'm going to be sitting for long periods of time or otherwise not going to be using the knife frequently then I use the Minimalist as a neck knife under my shirt (though I use a dog tag necklace in lieu of the cord they provide), but if I'm going to be using the knife a lot then I usually mount it on my belt around my 9 o' clock position in a crossdraw fashion for easier access than trying to fumble it out from under my shirt.
    At first I bought it just to have an inexpensive throwaway in case I found out I didn't like neck knives, but the Minimalist has turned out to serve my needs pretty well for the time I've had it. I'll probably buy another if I ever lose or break mine, but even then at $30 I'm certainly not going to cry over it.

    Got a Bowie in D2 with tan Micarta scales at SMKW recently for $23! Stunning. Very surprised it fit my big ol’ XXL mitts so well. Liked is so much I ordered the newer Persian blade in the standard stainless for $28. Instead of a neck knife (too annoying) I remove the cord and drop it into my front pocket as a fixed blade EDC. For me these are cheap do everything light work horse knives. I think CRKT has sold/will sell about a billion of these little puppies. Highly recommended. OH YEAH! Great job with the presentation here. Well reasoned and interesting.

    Ive been using mine for a while and I think you'd only notice the cheap knife steel if you're doing any serious tasks. For the average food and boxes day, it's perfectly fine. Mine still looks brand new. And it's just so fun..

    For me, Bowie knives are the best, regardless the size. For a knife of this size I prefer all steel, no scales, made of 6,35mm thick stock. Some people would say that this would add to the weight, but personally, I prefer a little heavier, stronger knife than a lighter but weaker one. I think 440c steel would be ideal regarding price and performance, but of course carbon would be as good. Good presentation. Best regards from France.

    It’s a good knife for what it is. Keep in your pocket no problem. The handle makes it. I work (pre covid) in an office so a belt knife or something much bigger or heavier wouldn’t be conducive to business casual. It’s lighter and thinner than most folders.

    Great knife, great ergos and next to nothing in weight.
    I definitely agree with you on the soft knife steel!! I know you can buy a custom minimalist from the designer Folts that is way more expensive but a quality steel.
    As a neck or boot knife (because of the light weight and rust resistance) this is almost perfect. I just wish CRKT had upgraded the steel to something with abit more edge retention. Shame really

      @@hillbillydudeI've now had my minimalist Bowie for about a week. And if I said I'm impressed, it would be an understatement. I experimented with the supplied belt clip, and I won't be using it. I experimented with the feel of the woven lanyard, and I've now removed it. Beautiful looking knife. Extremely good finger fit. And its unbelievable how quick and effortless it is to sharpen. I highly recommend.

    • @jimmy66603
      @jimmy66603 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should hold it? But if for some reason your sheath doesn't hold it, try heating up the kydex sheath with a heat gun whilst the blade is in it and use something with a blunt square end to push down on and reshape the sheath around the blade.

  • @ctford27

    I think it's 8cr13 steel now

    • @jimmy66603
      @jimmy66603 ปีที่แล้ว

      No mate, this particular model is Cr5 15mov. Theres another model that's 8cr. The 8cr version has got fancy a green coloured etching on the blade. The scales and the kydex sheath are also a sort of florescent green colour on the 8cr version. Personally, I don't like it. I much prefer this version. 👍

    On mine the sheath is way too tight. Anybody ever try to adjust this type of holster?

    • @Relayer56
      @Relayer56 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine was tight too at the start. I loosened a little with some use. A good snatch brings it right out but the last thing you want is coming out too easily. You might put a hot hair dryer on it then squeeze the edges to open it up a bit.

    • @billrom795
      @billrom795 3 ปีที่แล้ว
