  • Edward Elgar (1857-1934) is famed for being able to play many instruments including the piano, organ, and bassoon. However, it is his ability to play most members of the string section (in particular, the violin, viola and cello) that is reflected in his music. Elgar's ability as a composer of the minimal as well as larger forces is reflected beautifully in his 'Serenade for String Orchestra in E minor, Op.20.' Here is a new arrangement of the first movement of the 'Serenade' for the slightly unusual combination of flute, piano, violin and cello.
