It’s beautiful what can be achieved when passion supersedes a profit/loss formula.

Honestly, a cathedral taking 140+ years to build is far from unprecedented, almost all the most famous cathedrals in Europe took several centuries to complete. Anyways, Sagrada Familia is arguably one of the prettiest European cathedrals and one of the most beautiful modern buildings. They took the classic gothic style and combined it with Gaudi's twist, such that the cathedral has the appearance of a giant ant mound outside, and a heavily stylized cave inside.

Photo or video do not do it justice if you have been in person. It is a work of art. I was there as part of a tour of gaudi buildings and park in Barcelona.

That hanging everything upside down to figure everything out method- that is absolutely brilliant! I'd never heard of that idea before but it makes so much sense. Our ancestors weren't as dumb as many of us like to think they were.

You didnt mention the controversy regarding the Glory façade. Essentially the church took too long to finish that a street was built at the end of the parcel of the church and residential buildings on the other side of thay road, but as per the original Gaudi design, the parcel ends at the façade with no space for the staircase. And this church is designed to be entered on the second floor so the grand staircase is needed outside the church. The government designed it to be like an overpass (think UN on NYC) but they need the space on the other side of the road for the staircase so they are trying to evict the people of those buil8dngs so they can be demolished and we are not talking about cheap buoldings. These are luxury apartments due to being next to the church. TLDR the church and government are on a legal battle with the owners of the buildings.

They have to evict 15000 people in order to finish it. The people want to either remain there or have the church pay for relocation, which in turns means building all those buildings and relocating the people before the façade and staircase could be finished. It appears it is not going to hit the planned completion date of 2026 if they have to do so.

Thanks for sharing that info… I did catch some controversy around that facade but couldn’t put together enough reliable information to fit it into this video

Thanks for doing this video. It’s great to also see stories about something so magnificent as this church. Not just homes/expensive homes in a city. This was far more fascinating! Also learned a lot. Thanks for taking your time in doing this. Very impressed. 👍👏😎

See if you can do a part 2, from location as a tax right off lol you will not regret it! It truly is one of the most amazing things ever to be seen, every aspect is an art piece & mind blowing!
Another section you could incorporate in Barcelona is the 'Old town' or Gothic quarter, you know just for comparison against today's real estate hahaha Looking forward to it!

Was Gaudi (spelling?) gay perhaps? That’s probably why he didn’t marry. In addition, I was raised Roman Catholic and being gay was a no no back then. Btw, I watch you on utube TV so I don’t often comment and this may be a first for me on your channel! Great work! 👍😊

Nice video, the Spanish people spent 140 years building that ugly Gothic Church. I think the Cathedral of Yamoussoukro in the Ivory Coast is more beautiful.

Sagrada Familia: when you've run out of Real Estate topics to make content about but you need to hustle an Influencer Product and you turn to European churches
