    Excellent video! I often speak about many of same things with discussing factors to consider while shortlisting. I feel many of the aspects you mentioned (weather, cost of living, why you want to actually attend a specific university, and the importance of actually putting in the work and doing your own research) are often overlooked these conversations, so it was refreshing to see your video and how thorough it was.

    The alternative to the best American universities in CS and to OxBridge in England are the two Swiss federal schools EPFL/ETHZ in Lausanne and Zurich (World's Top 10 and top 6 in science and technology). These two schools are almost free (1750 USD/year tuition fees) and offer world-class CS training, of which that of EPFL is considered today to be just below that of Stanford. And the European centers of Meta, AWS, Disney research, IBM quantum, Google are located in Switzerland, a very pleasant and very safe country.

    I've completed civil engineering this year. I have cgpa of 7.6 but I had total of 7 backlogs which I cleared before coming into 4th(final) year of engineering.
    I don't know how to calculate GPA.. and after seeing many YT videos and research on Google I saw that my chances of getting in a moderately better university is kinda low.
    And top of that I don't have monetary funds but would have to take loan.
    My basic questions before jumping on the masters train is?
    (1)Which University should I aim for and try to get in?
    (2)Will that University provide me TA/RA/GA before starting of my semester?
    (3)Will there be hidden courses after I get admitted and they say "you will have take some courses before you start the masters cause you didn't fill this criteria of admission"
    (4)Will having a experience in civil engineering company of 1 year be any help to get me internship or job? Or will I need more years of experience?
    I know these questions fall into category of DUMB QUESTIONS
    but please sir if you can answer them or direct me a little would be a great help.🙂

    • @RoronoaZoro-uo7zu
      @RoronoaZoro-uo7zu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well I got my answers and hope it helps others
      (1) first find which masters you want to do.. and then search appropriate University..
      There are numerous..
      So make list of all.. like in video
      Then arrange them in thier rank
      (2) there is no definite answer..
      You might want to contact the university, professor or alumi of the university.
      Make sure you have all your questions before hand people don't like to be disturbed by same person numerous times.
      (3) There are instances of this happening.. so after you get approval or before try asking this question.. and get a definitive answer
      (4) well this question I didn't get any answer.. might have to keep searching
      Conclusion: most of your answers will be found at University website and mail and aluminis.
      Sorry sir for disturbing with dumb questions.

      You are looking for a job, so you should look at s e v i s school data for school jobs opt, you should look at Department of Labor H-1B jobs. And find universities where you will get job, cities where you will get job, this is how you do the short listing if you want a job in america. Every school in America has a great education including farm towns but if you go to school in a farm town do you want a farm job. Nothing wrong with working on the farm, but there are many Indians going to farm schools factory schools small town schools, and then they want a city job. If you want a city job go get education at City School

    Reason being that I’ve heard that u have just 90 days opt period to get job and then H1b right after ms but then there could be lay offs and then u have to find a job in 60 days or go back to india. Also suppose we do get get to stay there for 3years on H1b after that visa extension is next to impossible nowadays and green card is just basically impossible from what I’ve heard

      Hi Ishan, I know this is the downside of doing masters in U.S. U shudn't worry as U can pick a job which is low paying for initial period. Also u can work for about 1 year after ur masters is over, not 6 months or 90 days. If u r still worried you should apply to STEM designated Masters in CS programs. In STEM designated programs u can work for 36 months after ur masters is over. Here is video link that I came across. She applied recently to US and got selected into STEM progams(but not Masters in CS)

    Can you please give examples of some top universities who value high GRE score, and admits students with less-than-average GPA.

      Your focus should be schools that have many opt jobs and cities that have many H-1B jobs. Go get the sevis data and analyze it go get departmental labor data and analyze it

    I have a low GRE scores (302) that's the worst part I can't change shall I still consider applying to good universities

      You absolutely should; it's always good to apply to a range of universities, but don't count yourself out of the better ones. The GRE score is only one part of your overall application.

    If I return home after MS, is there any chance of going back later for a job in the US (without pursuing further education there)? Or is the OPT period the only shot?

    Also, how could we get a Fee waiver for our Application during submission, as I am financially low.... apart from that the above mentioned Universities did not gave me Fee Waiver code, telling that it is for only US Persons....!!! I was Really blown away... Please let me know on this also...? Thank you..!

    Amazing video and it really helped me for shortlisting universities although your video seems more engineering centric and the websites you suggested to look up to it have all the data related to engineering itself. It would be great to get some data related other graduate programs than STEM.

    Brother what if I take loan and study Ms, but I have to repay the loan back and then apply for PhD, is this fine??

    • @ustapatnaik9293
      @ustapatnaik9293 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can pay your loan back while you are PhD without enough money to pay your loan. Then go do it. If you're family is going to pay back your loan, while you are studying for your PhD then go do it. What are your chances of delaying your loan, until you complete your phd? Check with your lender.

      You should apply to 4 good universities and 6 average universities. In Which country do u wanna apply for masters? I also performed about average during my bachelors. I watched this video. And I added few points from this video to my admission CV/resume. You can also check this video for points if you are an average student.

    Hi bro, its bit urgent could you please answer, should we shortlist universities based on our profile according to USnews university ranking or Usnews acceptancy rate of a university?

    • @chaitanyacssambhara9714
      @chaitanyacssambhara9714 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. US News and World reports, qs rankings is worthless for you as an indian. You are looking for student opt job so look at sevis data s e v i s you are looking for H-1B job so go look at H-1B data from Department of labor, you are going to come up with 25 major metropolitan areas and 75 universities.. or look at TH-cam channel from donkey Desi American professor
