I grew up with this song and a number of other songs Celtic Thunder sings. My mother grew up across the branch from her cousin, the late Jean Ritchie. Jean was a fulbright scholar; she traveled throughout England, Scotland and Ireland tracking down the sources of our Appalaxhian songs (eastern Kentucky) a lot of our entertainment down home was singing 😊 Jean traveled and performed all over the world;` she even recorded some of our music for the Library of Congress. It's always such a treat to hear any or all or a partial group sing the songs I love so much. Jean taught me to play the dulcimer, an Appalachian stringed instrument. Thank you for singing this song. You have such a terrific voice and this put a smile on my face
been a fan of CT fer yrs. enjoy all their songs. Paul's voice is as distinct as all the other members of Celtic Thunder. I sure do miss George D. To me, he was somewhat of the anchor for the band. I know I'll never get a chance to see them live, but w/ a 50" wide screen TV at 3ft, it's just like being there live...
Beautiful song and wonderful voice. And thanks for the scenery. I miss your beautiful island so much. It's been far too long since the last visit there.
I was listening to “green fields of France” by Celtic Thunder on the “Take me Home” album and I’m trying to figure out who is the high voice with the ultra-smooth vibrato. It’s almost in counter-tenor range. I looked at the album credits and none of the other singers have the natural talent, training and smooth vibrato you have but in all the other recordings I’ve seen of you, you were singing in a much lower range. Was that you? I mean, I listened to solos by all the other credited singers and there’s no way it was anyone else. If you can sing that beautifully in that range then, wow. I’d like to hear more of it.
Oh, Paul! Your voice never ceases to touch my heart. This song, this video, absolutely beautiful. I wish there were words that would better express what I am feeling, but, sadly, the English language is limited. God bless you.
His voice is like a gift from God - amazing and wonderful.
