I would trade every technology and trick in a recording studio for the pure, brilliant musicianship that’s offered here. A timeless classic, three sweet guitars and heavenly harmony. Nothing better. Nothing. Karla, Livingston and Sean… thank you.
I saw Karla play a small venue in Kansas City in 1983. I had all her albums and they had been a great help in getting through a very difficult stretch. The concert was amazing - everything I had hoped it would be. Her voice is as pure and sweet as ever!
That sounded great! I still have my Karla Bonoff vinyl records from the late 70's and 80's. I wore them out a bit because I played them so much while I was studying in college. This kind of music just doesn't get old.
Love you,Karla… ever since the “Karla Bonoff” and “Restless Nights” albums were released (and through every album since). You have written some truly beautiful music over the years, along with sincere and touching lyrics. To this day, you are one of my favorites and I feel truly blessed to have found you and your music, an integral part of the musical journey throughout my Life. I am your forever fan. Be well and may you always be blessed.❤
Karla the best gift ever is the tickets to see you ever so close at "The Palms" in Davis, CA!! I was frozen in time!! Everyone who knew me, knew you from the age of 15 yrs old!! I still love and adore the many ways you've touched my life, and made things better!! At age 66, I finally get to "thank you" for your comfort and understanding all these years!! Your talent in touching others with your music is unmeasurable!! ❤
I could have written this, except I haven’t seen you play live yet, but first discovered at age 15, now 66 rediscovering such beautiful voice, music and songs. Thank you!
Ah dinnae ken if anyone in the group reads these. But I wanted the wee lassie singin ta know this song, her voice, reached me all the way over to Glasgow. When I listen and close me eyes, I feel my spirit soaring over River Ness in the Highlands. I cannae find the words. We've a sayin in Scotland when somethin is this good - It's Top Drawer.
I found this last night. I had heard the name Karta Bonhoff, probably she's been mentioned in scads of music docs. A revelation to me. Then I spent a few rabbit hole hours listening to her albums. More revelation. Then I thought, wow, her immediate voice, the here and now, everyday poetry of love, lovers, finding the one, broken hearts, etc, and I thought, wow, she, Lara Nyro, and Janis Ian were Taylor Swift before there was one. Why didn't any of those women reach the heights TS has? Their songs were easily as good. Their musicianship just as good, their bands, etc ,all as good. so why aren't any of them huge? Was it the times? Was it the rise of feminism in the 90s and 2000s?
@@davidoswell3079 what about Neil Sedaka,Jim Croce, Jim Weatherly and Austin Roberts??! Neil Sedaka, Jim Croce and Jim Weatherly are in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame Weatherly was inducted in 2014.
Karla, this is a Beautiful addition to your concert that night! This would make a phenomenal concert to listen to on cd format. You 3 are just Plain Beautiful❤❤❤
Karla, I am ashamed to say I haven’t encountered you previously and I’ve been listening to a large array of music since my childhood in the 1960s (following my older brother’s tastes and album collection). Awesome voice, beautiful sounding guitars, harmonies and one of my favorite traditional songs. Thank you 🙏
Her first album "Karla Bonoff" is a classic & many songs are acoustic guitar. She also plays the piano. I fashioned my own songwriting in her style with less is more & great harmony singing on some (some of the same guys that played with Linda Ronstadt in the 70's. Karla started out writing songs for others & doing background vocals than she did her 1st self-titled album). Amazon has got an even better deal with that album & 2 other albums (Restless Nights-Wild Heart of the Young) where you'll find "The Water is Wide" song. All 3 for only $16.99.
I'd have to say that Falling Star is my favorite Karla song but this comes a close second. Very well performed, lovely sounding guitars and great harmonies.
I watched this because I saw the name Livingstone Taylor, I saw a how to video of his once, Such genuine joy he has for music and the guitar and you can see him revelling in Sean’s solo and Karla’s singing Sublime to watch …
A true classic. There's an even better version of Karla singing this beautiful song, with Kenny Edwards, it must be more than a few years' old given how long ago Kenny tragically died.
I found her back in the 70's when the "country rock" or "West Coast country" theme was popular in the South. I heard off her first album, as I recall, the song "I Can't Hold" on the radio and I was hooked. A great artist in all respects. Stellar backup here in this video with Livingston and Sean. So glad I came across this. Sometimes algorithms do work 🙂
I first saw Karla Bonoff at the Majestic theater in San Antonio with Beth Neison Chapman and David Wilcox. 1990 or so..... one of the best concerts I ever saw there.
Karla... you still sing like an angel... I fell in love with her music after I found out that she wore several songs for Linda Ronstadt for her "Hasten Down the Wind" album... bought her first 2 albums and fell immediately in love with her music... he voice is fragile at times, yet so hitherto! Thank you for many nights of headphone listening at bedtime...I love this version!
Your voice and guitar playing is just as fantastic as it was when you first recorded this song. Such a beautiful collaboration and performance. Thank you. I am inspired. I play guitar but 10 days ago had surgery on my left hand in two places. I am praying that with healing and OT I will once again be able to play. I think this will be one of the songs I finally learn. Continued blessings and music. 🎶🙏💕
My wife and I got to see both you and Livingston on successive nights at the Wildwood Springs Resorts several years ago. You graciously signed CDs I brought with me and posed for a picture with us. Glad to see you are both still out there making beautiful music. Hope to hear you again this year somewhere.

Karla.. your voice is still as perfect as the first time I heard it. ❤
And your guitar skills are still superb
Karla is a timeless genius. Remember all the songs she wrote that made Linda Ronstadt a superstar!
And performed better
Absolutely Marco Karla Went Under The Musical Radar In The 70s BUT Half A Century Later Her Songs Remain Timeless!🎤🎸🎹🎼🌹♥️
WOW. She was 71 years old when this was recorded! DAMN!!
That sounded great! I still have my Karla Bonoff vinyl records from the late 70's and 80's. I wore them out a bit because I played them so much while I was studying in college. This kind of music just doesn't get old.
I couldn't agree more
Amen. It doesn't get old. Beautiful is beautiful.
This is the epitome of acoustic guitars in perfect harmony. Absolutely beautiful.
Karla Bonoff made me cry more times than anyone in music. For that I thank her.
You're not alone...also, she made us smile. But then, she makes us smile still.
Love all versions of this song…but Karla Bonoff and her group. Just amazing. Thank you for wetting my eyes on a beautiful Sunday morning.

Sublime. Nobody sings this song like her.

Superb! Absolutely perfect.
I love you Karla. A very underrated singer songwriter. I was lucky enough to see/hear her in Bozeman, Montana, with Nina Gerber accompanying her.
She should be in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame and the Rock &Roll Hall of Fame.
