"I called ahead, and I said that I wanted to see Liam Neeson in Shindler's List. You seem to have given me Leslie Nielsen in Surf Ninjas. It took me an hour to realize I was watching the wrong movie cause I missed the opening credits. I was making popcorn." I wouldn't have been able to make it that far with a straight face..
The kid in The Jackie Chan movie Rumble in the Bronx was playing a Game-Gear through out the whole movie and you can clearly see that he doesn’t have a game inserted in the back of the Game Gear!
Sega knew exactly what they were doing when they made Surf Ninja's...as a kid it got me wanting a Sega game gear with that beautiful colorful screen for portable gaming. Obviously that was before I knew about its battery life being nonexistent
Rob Schneider and his brothers are local surf Heroes. But when ancient ninja sensei taps them to save the world, they find out that they are ::record scratch:: all washed up.
I loved this movie as a kid, precisely because of how stupid it was lol. This and Sidekicks with Chuck Norris. Another movie that doesn't seem to exist anywhere anymore.
Agreed... was disappointed with the crew here lol. I guess it’s easy for them to hate since they didn’t see it in real time.... in real time this movie was amazing
Rob Schneider is a somewhat popular comedic actor, who seemed to have all...until one day he came across a pot roast, and his life changed forever. Now he’s sharing his body with a fifteen year old boy! And he’s about to find out that being fifteen, ain’t a pretty scene!
I think Mike's role in this series is actually quite organic. He's not the hardcore movie guy like James (and the other guys?), but he's the casual movie fan who has specialised interest in certain franchises and elements of pop culture. Just hanging out in the video store. Maybe the store needs a Ninja Turtles arcade machine for him.
Growing up in a small town I had two rental places. The looked just like this. You guys nailed it. I can still hear the creaking floor boards and smell the old and dusty scent. Such good memories. $7 for a game for 7 days. I rented Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, Super Mario 2, Mega Man 1-3, Startropics, Little Nemo and many others. They're both gone now :(
I gotta say, Mr. Rolfe, I absolutely love this new series you guys are doing. I think it's a fresh new direction for Cinemassacre (*sniff* still has that new series smell! Wow!). The last episode on "Commando" was a great nostalgic romp through one of my favorite 80s movies which also happened to be a staple of my late childhood/adolescence. Can't wait for the next one, keep em coming!
playboydojo same.. My parents never really purchased games for me unless it was a birthday or Christmas so it was nice to have these weekly rentals for $5. And you used to be able to keep the game for like a whole week.
I miss the surf culture of the 90s. They were the least-offended people of all time. Actually, I'm pretty sure that's what all the stoners were doing during the 90s
I unironically love this movie. Just seeing Ernie Reyes and Jr. in the same movie is really cool. It's just fun 90's bullshit in a kid friendly wrapper.
Tone Loc was in Surf Ninjas, Ace Ventura, & Blank Check!! As a kid I seriously thought he was a huge star since he was in all the movies I loved. When I discovered his music I was blown away!!
I love this movie back in the day. We rented this from West Coast video like almost every weekend. Watching this with my older sisters and little nephews & nieces was some of my fondest memories.
Holy shit guys, Cinemassacre Rental Reviews may already be my favorite thing that you guys have done. It's a really great set up with a fun atmosphere and it seems to give you guys a ton to work with creatively. Keep up the great work!
I think the other 90's movie with a Game Gear was Rumble in the Bronx (with Jackie Chan) - famously in the scene where the kid is playing with it, there isnt actually a game in the machine so he's just pretending :D
grimTales1 well, that was a weird one because it was not actually stated to be a Game Gear, they pretty much used it as a prop for “generic game system” and like didn’t know or care that ordinarily it needs a cartridge to do anything.
This series is like Cinemassacre's version of RedLetterMedia's Half in the Bag, but instead of being a VCR repair shop, they're a rental store. Just an observation, not a criticism.
I'd like to see a video formatted like Rental Reviews but the lot of you debate who would win in a fight between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone with all the abilities of all the action characters theyve played.
I used to work at an asylum/housing facility for people who have mental illness. There was this one guy who had schizophrenia and he was around 6”5 and 350-400lbs. (Essentially Michael Myers) His favorite thing in the world is this movie. I’ve had to have seen this movie around 100+ times and heard the audio from the other room countless other times. Words can’t describe how much I hate this movie, but I’m glad it existed while I was working there. Saved me from being killed multiple times
This is one of those flicks that, after repeated viewings, you come to realize the villain was the star of the show. Nielsen’s General Chi had the best scenes and best lines. Just like how Skeletor was the saving grace of Masters of the Universe and Dr. Evil routinely upstaged Austin Powers.
Let's not forget about the late great Raul Julia as M. Bison in Street Fighter. His epic, over-the-top performance would have been an Oscar winner if there was ever category for best performance in a "Shitty Movie".
The infamy of it all. I rented both Surf Ninjas, the TMNT 3 movie, on one of the sad wastes of a weekend from my childhood. It was like shock and awe. I always rented two movies, in case one sucked. But this time I got both barrels... And I just realized I'm getting ranch dressing from my burger on my phone. I've had a few brews, so I'm a little slow right now.
As a kid I loved the movie and was a 90s classic... can't imagine anyone liking this movie today if u never seen it back than. Looks like James missed out a part of the 90s, but we can't all catch everything from the 90s, can't we?
"Don't expect Citizen Kane." - Leslie Nielsen, when asked about Surf Ninjas, back when it was his most current project.
Lmao, HES PROBABLY NOT A VERY GOOD PERSON, IDK
need you say more
BigAL68xyz- The very second you hear a like like that, for example, you know the movie is gonna be bad.
Yes, Citizen Kane. The movie everyone knows but nobody watched.
Alan .Schriver Heck, was. It comes to Surf Ninjas, you can’t even expect the same vibes as The 3 Ninjas give ya!
That was ridiculous!
The kid in The Jackie Chan movie Rumble in the Bronx was playing a Game-Gear through out the whole movie and you can clearly see that he doesn’t have a game inserted in the back of the Game Gear!
was literally about to post that so they knew what "ninja (ok its actually kung-fu)" movie it was from.
I just did and scrolled down and saw yours.. cheers
"Jackie, my cushion!"
He could have a Game but than he dondt have Money for the Game-Gear!!! xD
I think Surf Ninja's needs a remake and it should be as serious as Schindler's List.
Actually I believe Surf Ninjas itself was a remake of Enter The Dragon.
So not serious at all?
@@zmajodnocaja5088mald
"This is a kid's movie, right?"
"It's called Surf Ninjas."
I died at that line lol
Seriously this is an awesome series! Keep em coming James!
Agree
HELL YEAH!
agree! Cinemassacre Video Shop must be a new classic
Agree. This is one of my favorite Cinemassacre series.
You mean he rips off successful ideas off others? yeah, let's all thank Red Letter Media
Fun fact: Ernie Reyes Jr was the in-suit Donatello martial arts stunt double in the original TMNT movie.
K Ahtic also stared in TMNT2 Secret of the Ooze
K Ahtic And the pizza boy in TMNT 2.
Yeah, I own all 3 movies on VHS. I didn’t find out about the suit thing until about 10 years after the 2nd movie was released.
He was 21 when this came out to.
He's also in that recent Uncharted fan film with Nathan Fillion.
Sega knew exactly what they were doing when they made Surf Ninja's...as a kid it got me wanting a Sega game gear with that beautiful colorful screen for portable gaming. Obviously that was before I knew about its battery life being nonexistent
MetalJesusRocks on YT. Watch his game gear video XD
I liked it, not as a portable but as a little video game system with its own screen that I could play in my room.
Rob Schneider and his brothers are local surf Heroes. But when ancient ninja sensei taps them to save the world, they find out that they are ::record scratch:: all washed up.
Rated PG-13
Rated derp-da-doo
Lol
Rob Schneider is... A SURFBOARD!!
I'd buy a ticket to that if I had the money, but someone TOOK MUH JERB
I loved this movie when I was a kid. Actually I still love this movie and I find Rob Schneider funny in anything he has ever done.
Me too. Lol when the guy falls down the stairs at the end I was cracking up😅
Same ✊
I wouldn't tell people that. 😂
Did you see the one where he was a carrot? Truly some of his best work.
That Rob Schneider joke "because as we all know, money can't buy knives" had us DYING when I was a kid.
that and uncle iggy
I loved this movie as a kid, precisely because of how stupid it was lol. This and Sidekicks with Chuck Norris. Another movie that doesn't seem to exist anywhere anymore.
Lol same, watched both a few years back on TH-cam, still enjoyed them both. You can give that a shot, still might be on here.
Lol, I was wondering if Sidekicks was a movie that existed in my imagination
Sidekicks seemed to be on regular rotation on tv in the late 90’s/early 00’s but then kind of disappeared.
After the kid killed himself they stopped playing it so much
I'm not sure Sidekicks has aged well but I still enjoy it.
Loved this as a kid and still love it now.
Money can''t buy knives
Agreed... was disappointed with the crew here lol. I guess it’s easy for them to hate since they didn’t see it in real time.... in real time this movie was amazing
Me too!
As a kid who owned a Game Gear, this movie was amazing. I still love it. Always will.
Erney Reyes Jr. was also the little dude that beat the crap out of The Rock in The Rundown.
And the lil king in Red Sonja
And Rush Hour 2
Kelly Hu was 25 years old when making this movie, but looks like she's 15. Rob Schneider was 30 years old and looks like he's about 40 in the movie.
Rob Schneider seems to either be a very unfunny Warlock stuck in a loop or just ageless because no matter how old he is he looks like he's 40.
Damn, she was 25!.... She really hasn't age much.
@@waltermh111 yeah she's 50 but could pass for early 30s. Good genetics :p she's smoking hot.
I think Schneider is supposed to be older I think they say something about him being held back or having to repeat grades a few times.
"Hello, fellow kids"-Rob Schneider
Moonbeam all I thought of was South Park lol
Rob Schneider is a carrot
Rob Schneider is a stapler
Rob Schneider is a somewhat popular comedic actor, who seemed to have all...until one day he came across a pot roast, and his life changed forever. Now he’s sharing his body with a fifteen year old boy! And he’s about to find out that being fifteen, ain’t a pretty scene!
Rob Schnieder in... THE POT ROAST.
fred fuchs Rated PG-13.
I’m disappointed that nobody recognizes the South Park reference in this post.
Good on you sir! Good on you.
Rob Schneider is...Kenny!
Did you just derp me, bro?? IM A SURF NINJA! DON'T DERP MEEEEEE!
Leslie Nielsen: You call throwing dynamite around a martial art?
Rob Schneider: Hey, as long as it works.
I legit love this movie, it’s so incredibly 90s and completely encapsulates my childhood
The intro is amazing.
Hey You whats your problem bro?
Hey You guyyyyyyyyys
Right?! I really love the VHS look and how they advertise it as if it were a real rental store back in the 90's.
Hey You Yup.
I appreciated the "vorhees memorial mall, next to Caldor" line :(
I think Mike's role in this series is actually quite organic. He's not the hardcore movie guy like James (and the other guys?), but he's the casual movie fan who has specialised interest in certain franchises and elements of pop culture. Just hanging out in the video store. Maybe the store needs a Ninja Turtles arcade machine for him.
So many people love James man, a real TH-cam classics.
ProtoMario I watch you videos
I step away from the MRE videos for ONE SECOND and you've followed me over here
ProtoMario James is a real TH-cam superhero. Ofc not a youtube hero like youtube thinks what a hero should be. He is just awesome
Did you have a stroke while typing this?
The guy who got rejected by Gamestop and decided to make a bunch of videos about it. Still crying about it and spamming videos to get views?
From what I've seen, Rob Schneider seems like a great person.
i hung out with rob schneider in '01, the thing that made him laugh most was when i randomly said "moto surf" in his delivery of the line
This movie takes me back to being 12 renting kid flicks. Life was good. 7Eleven BMX bikes Nintendo and cheesy movies
Like Double Dragon?

Man, shoutouts to Justin for really doing his research about little bits in movies. I never knew the Game Gear game switched to Columns.
I rented this because of Kelly Hu.

"it took me an hour to realize I was watching the wrong movie because I missed the opening credits"
James and Mike really mix things up,,, this is definitely one of the best TH-cam channels...
This was one of my favorite movie as a kid! It definitely brought back nostalgia watching this. As a kid, we loved this ninja stuff.
Whatever you do, please keep these segments going. I love watching y'all talk about these old movies like me and my boys do. Keep up the great work.
I wanted them to keep going as well, but they stopped over a year ago.
Literally one of my all time favorite movies. Ernie Reyes Jr is a goddamn LEGEND.
It's awful in a fun way. It was a riot. It still is. It made fun of itself, that takes the suck out of it, IMO.
What if the kids from 3 NINJAS crossover to SURF NINJAS , you know what it'd be called ?? 3 SURF NINJAS ! It could have worked back then .
I like the way you think
Rocky loves Emily.
Deuce Bigalow - Surf Ninja Gigolo
The Laughing Rabbit Mike Bigalow Angry Nerd gigolo
Can you guys do "Blank Check" next?
Why not have a Tone Loc marathon and review Ace Ventura: Pet Detective as well?
Lol word and FernGully: The Last Rainforest
Agreed
While they're at it, also review _Airborne_ (1993). It's another cheesy '90s flick.
You definitely need to keep this format alive, James and Mike. I really like the VHS rental store vibe. Another fun review fellas
I used to watch this movie all the time as a kid. "There's no gray area with you. It's either the glass is half full or we're dead."
In Surf Ninjas 2 they should Surf the web in incognito mode
AnythingGoes I think there's like 3 already
Only James can make this series, no one else has a video store in their basement.
James is a legend.

I love Surf Ninjas. It's completely, unapologetically bad, and it's one of my favorite things to come out of the 90s.
Dude, come on. We love the movie but it is objectively bad. Rob Schneider is an immediate DQ.
