  • Folks, this is pretty simple. You've just got to pay attention to the way your teeth are facing, and make sure not to lose your nuts in the grass. Watch, as I demonstrate.

    Great video. Perfectly paced, and informative. I was able to work right along, and by the time the video was over, my blade was changed. Thank you.

    I have a 50cc Poulan with 20 inch Bar,everyone says they are junk but 2 years of use and a carb adjusting kit from Amazon and I beg to differ ... I use a Oregon Chisel Chain,stock Poulan Chain overheat too easily and loose their Temper and after that their just about impossible to keep sharp for very long.Also make sure plenty of Bar Oil to lubricate and carry heat away!

      I've found these Poulans to be about the best bang for your buck you can get. Thanks for the input.

    If I'm not mistaken the chain should be a little more loose. And you first hand tight the bolts then tighten the tensioner then tighten the bolts all the way....

    Good video. However, on most chain saw you have to disengage the break before removing the cover!!!! Don't forget to do this first!!!!

    Just an observation…I always pull the spark plug off and make sure the switch is in the “off” position before I mess with any of my saws….only takes 30 secs and could save you time in the hospital.

    I have PP5020AV the chain came off and I got everything lined back up. The tightening pip won't line up with the small hole no matter what I do. It is sitting above the hole 1/8 to a 1/4, when it's in operating position. I let the chain get slack in it, being lazy and it pop off. Been an aggravating ordeal since.

    Can someone help my 16 inch poulan keeps throwing the chain off can someone give me some advice or point me in the right direction to why it's doing that

    • @springfield03sniper
      @springfield03sniper 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is your chain sharp? Pull your bar and lay it on a flat surface, and see if it’s bent.

    • @crywolf1224
      @crywolf1224 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@springfield03sniper I didn't think to check that. Will give that a try tomorrow morning.

    • @springfield03sniper
      @springfield03sniper 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crywolf1224 I run a lot of saws, and one of the common things for a thrown chain is 1. Improper tension. Look this up on TH-cam, on how to properly tension your chain. 2. Dull chain. 3. Bent bar.

    • @crywolf1224
      @crywolf1224 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@springfield03sniper I have a feeling it is bent bar or maybe my tension was not enough because I was using a new chain and it threw it off. Before that the chain was lightly used I thought it was dull so that's when I swapped it and was thrown

    • @springfield03sniper
      @springfield03sniper 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@crywolf1224 check your manual, or if you don’t have a manual, google a copy or watch TH-cam. If you aren’t cutting anything, just running your saw, even a dull chain won’t be thrown. It’s only when you start trying to cut wood with a dull chain that it will be thrown. If you start it up, get it a few revs, and the chain doesn’t throw, probably is not a dull chain causing this. If it throws when you aren’t cutting anything, usually means bent bar, or tension issue.

    why is my saw the only one with a clutch? I have a poulin pro 50cc.

    • @jhk062010
      @jhk062010 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ALL chainsaws have a clutch. That's what makes the chain move when the trigger is engaged.

    • @richardcummins9513
      @richardcummins9513 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the saw size and manufacturer some saws have an inboard facing clutch (Husqvarna) while others have an outboard facing clutch. The latter are slightly easier to load a chain onto.

    The new chain looks a bit too tight. Could have removed one link on the old chain.
