probably no one will ever read this in the abyss of youtube comments under this video.... but i burst out crying once i heard the first few notes of Breathe. it was one of the songs my dad always used to play in the car, and now he´s gone.i miss him so much and i almost managed to forget for a while then i stumbled across this. if you should ever read this, you are a great person and your music has brought much joy to people, even though it brings me great sorrow now.
It makes me sad that this music brings you such sorrow, I understand why but music this good should only bring joy to everyone. Wishing you all the best for the future.
I went to see Ultravox at the Edinburgh Playhouse in 1982 - shortly after a car crash (where I rescued the tickets from the glove compartment before that car was towed.................) ................. - can't believe I'm going back to see Midge Ure in Aschaffenburg 40 years later
Saw Ultravox when I was 15. £2.50 for ticket......... Torquay Town Hall Aug 1980. Missus bought me birthday surprise in 2019, February at Winter Gardens Blackpool. I had no idea who I was seeing until walking into the theatre and seeing a well know Gibson gold top, standing on the stage next to a keyboard. What a life experience that was! Thank you Midge and Co for being the soundtrack to most my teenage, adult life!! The rest of that tour was unfortunately cancelled due to you know what.
One of the nicest blokes on the planet....I worked with his dad way back as teenager...Midge was on tour with Thin Lizzy at the time...I messaged him 40yrs later ( I had never met Midge ) as his tour was coming to Blackpool..The guy came straight back to me, thanking me for the kind words about his dad...Vip tickets for the gig...Fantastic show...Legend.
I worked and helped roadie Salvation in Glasgow, and did some gigs around the areas that formed this man..they went on as SLIK..got a crappy number 1 song..none of them really liked....then they kinda faded...The original band Salvation were a big hit...Midge had that front man thing.... with Kevin and Jim McGinley, Billy on Keyboards... Midge Ure was a great guy then, they all were...Proud to sit back to day and still see the talent we all knew ha had, still be seen for what it is...Long live Midge....I say hello to him every year as he he conducts that awesome star studded CHRISTMAS song.......the song that reminded who Midge was, and deserved to be.....Great days indeed.
Ohhh he s still a very great one. Vienna and 'if I was' are my beloved ones, but dancing with tears is incredibly performed!!!!! he got it!!!! I love listening to it while working. This video is very special ❤❤❤ thanks a lot. Wished I could have visited the concert
Midge Ure, amazingly underated. I asked my wife the other day if she knew of him, [she thinks she knows all music], she didn't of course. Got to be kidding. Amazing man, amazing music. why don't they know?
I'm trying not to make assumptions here......but are you American? ...as no Brit (over 30) hasn't heard of him. This is the man behind both and Aid and Live Aid. Geldof got all the glory which was criminal. He may have been the one who 'bashed heads together' and made that famous expletive laden plea on live TV, but Midge Ure was the one who wrote 'Do they know it's Christmas'. The guy worked so hard to get Band Aid to happen, yet he doesn't seem to have the credit he deserves. Without him, I doubt either Band Aid or Live Aid would have happened. People need to remember this. He was the brains, to Geldof's braun.
@@robtyman4281Yes, we're from across the pond, I finally turned my wife onto the Midge Ure. She has finaly seen the light. I think she has been living under a rock. But I catch her checking him out now. she now into New Order and the likes, I love her even more now.

Amazing man, amazing voice after all these years having that vocal range and still singing so very close to his younger prime, so many hits in the 80`s, part of my youth here in the UK, the music and videos of Ultravox take me right back there, where did the years go .
You are so very right, I have always loved Ultravox and a Friend of Mine turned Me onto OMD, and now love both bands equally and switched them back & forth back in the '80s!
From the beginning to the end of this live show, I was happy to see Midge-san.'s charm. I also love Ultravox's Midge-san's songs. Once again, I'm surprised at how many songs I love. Anyway, Midge-san was lovely. 😍❤️👏
Midge, one of the greatest of the greats of the incredible music that came out of the early 80s. And several decades later, he's still got that incredible voice. We are so blessed.
I love the fact that Midge is a great guitarist that play on Vintage Guitar brand. It shows that a talented guitarist don't need a expensive Gibson or Fender guitar to sound great. I'm proud of Vintage, and I understand why Midge love his Lemon drop,as I with my Gold Top
Totally agree. So much pretentious crap around supposedly ‘premium’ guitar brands. Also love Fret King guitars - the other brand associated with Trevor Wilkinson.
Have been to his concert last week in Dublin and I am still completely flashed! Especially love his 80s songs and it is amazing how great he still is performing nowadays! Simply Fantastic!
His vocal range is still fantastic and he has looked after himself and his voice very well in later years. Great writer and producer. An essential artist.
Jesus, he really does have amazing pipes still, and he’s not falling into that trap of older singers where they let the phrasing get all loose over the beat. His enunciation, groove, tight but impassioned delivery... the only thing age seems to have done is add a slight smokiness to his tone, but that’s really not a bad thing. Love the crackle on some lower notes, he uses a sort of subharmonic technique to slightly growl them in, it sounds brilliant. I’m a professional singer myself and if I still have half the voice Midge does when I’m his age I’ll be delighted. ROCK ON BROTHER!
Someone who knows what they are talking about on youtube at last! I agree with you, actually I'm amazed how good Midge still sounds. I was a bit too young to be into Ultravox back in the day but I'm listening to them a lot now and they were/are such an underrated band.
oh my god, Vienna, the greatest perfomance ever, his voice is still stunning. I love him forever! And dancing with tears in my eyes...what a great sound of his voice
Groing up in the years of UK bands , I had songs that took me away , and Vienna was and still is that song. Loathe to criticise, so call it a comment, but as much as any Ultravox concert led towards Vienna , the violin then became the most soothing 30 secs of the song for me. Which was missing.. ... The concert years before was the best version of Vienna I've ever heard.
Goosebumps!! I did not expect he still having the range, and he "hold my beer", and sings Vienna and right after, Hymn, and then, The voice!! . Unbelievable!!
Just awesome. I'm so happy to see this live. Ultravox, YMO and Kraftwerk are my heros forevermore. At the same time, I had realized 'WDR4' on the banners. Gee! How old l am!?

Just amazing, last saw Midge Ure with Ultravox in London in the 80s, what a fantastic performance almost 40 years later, that guy can still sing and to have him perform a lot of the original Ultravox material was incredible.

You don;t know what you missed Phil. They had four incredibly greta albums in a row with hardly a weak song amongst them, in a time when some bands could still write a complete album instead of writing a single and a bunch of duds.

Amazing energy on stage... I wish I had that when i'm at his age... AWESOME!
Energy? It's a great concert, but the dynamics are close to non-existent, with even the keyboard player reading the chords of his computer. I don't think he even looked once at the band.
