    Always good to review the basics :) I started on a new rug yesterday, doing it with 1/2 inch strips, but I'm Navajo plying it before using it. It's turning out tighter and thicker then I expected, might want to give it a try... Might make a good doormat, but it is material intensive.

    What do you put on the back of the rug so it doesn’t slide?

    • @RagRugsbyErin
      @RagRugsbyErin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use anything on my rugs. Some people use the squishy mesh they use for shelf lining and place that underneath.

    Hi Erin. . I love your video. I am excited to start. Is it possible for u to give a wriiten instruction. Im especially in need to the Instructions on how to do the turns for the oval rugs. Thank you so much

      @RagRugsbyErin  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +marlene pillay I do not have written instructions on my rugs as of now. Quick cheater guide: First corner: 3 single crochets in the end hole Second corner: 2 times into the 1st end hole and 2 times into the 2nd end hole Third corner: There is usually 3 holes on this end - do 2 single crochets in each of the holes. After that you will have to use your own judgement. You might want to view my video "Keep and Oval Rag Rug Flat & Smooth". I think that might be helpful. Good luck and thank you for viewing!!

    I have nearly finished my first ever oval rag rug. The instructions for how to keep it flat were brilliant, it was much easier than i thought. Is there a video showing how to finish the rug? Is it better to finish just after a curve or in the middle of a straight? Thanks

    Dear Erin ! I did 2 stiches in each corner hole as you say , now for the next corner do i have to do the same thing or i have to do 2 stiches in 4 holes etc etc ! Sorry maybee its a strange question but i am new at it ! I finished my first rectangular rug yesterday and i am pretty proud of myself Ha ha ha ! You are a good teacher ! Thanks

    • @RagRugsbyErin
      @RagRugsbyErin  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Suzanne, It is not an exact science making it around the corners. You may put 2 single croches in all 3 holes or you may do 2 in the end holes and 1 in the middle. You only add 2 stitches in 1 hole when you need the extra to get around the corner and not make your rug cup up or pull to much. If you add to many stitches around the corners it will get floppy and wavy. I suggest you watch Keep an Oval Rag Rug Flat & Smooth th-cam.com/video/YBHfkZUIe6c/w-d-xo.html This should help. Good Luck.

    have we to Add in every round

    • @RagRugsbyErin
      @RagRugsbyErin  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sabina Carohib Yes, you do add extra stitches on every or almost every corner/end. You would not add extra stitches if you had several rounds that you added to many. You may want to veiw on my channel. "Keep an Oval Rag Rug Flat & Smooth". It talks more about adding stitches when the rug is larger. You can find that video in my Playlist called "Rag Rug Information and Help Videos". This Playlist has 15 helpful videos for rag ruggers. Thanks for veiwing and good luck with your project!!

    Mine started to bow as I got further along. Any tips?

    • @RagRugsbyErin
      @RagRugsbyErin  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MrDevourtoSurvive If I am understanding the question. Your rug is curving up on the ends? You are probably not adding enough stitches on the ends to keep it flat and even. You might want to watch my video "Keep and Oval Rag Rug Flat & Smooth" this is the address: th-cam.com/video/YBHfkZUIe6c/w-d-xo.html If it is doing it too much you may need to take some of it out and add the stitches, but if it is slight just adding some stitches will correct it. Never add stitches on the straight away. By adding stitches I mean: Add a second single crochet stitch in the the same hole. I hope my explaination is concise. Good Luck!!

    My rug is wavy. Do I need to add more stitches or less?

    • @RagRugsbyErin
      @RagRugsbyErin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never add stitches in the straight aways. If it is wavy on the arches you are adding to many stitches. Here is the video that talks about how to know when to add the stitches. Keep and Oval Rag Rug Flat and Smooth. th-cam.com/video/YBHfkZUIe6c/w-d-xo.html I have a playlist called Rag Rug Information and Help Videos. It has over 20 videos to help deal with questions and concerns. Here is the link for that play list. Hope that helps. th-cam.com/play/PLAEHBqI5JB7b6jtGq2q5MCzNP9wuvvHjY.html
