  • Fans reacted to the return of Craig Counsell, now manager of the Chicago Cubs, at American Family Field on May 27.
    Counsell left his hometown Brewers for the rival Cubs after nine seasons as manager. He has the most wins of any manager in franchise history, with 707 wins to go along with a .531 winning percentage.
    Counsell, who also grew up in Whitefish Bay as a fan of the Brewers with his father working in the team's front office, spent six years with Milwaukee as a player, as well.

    Counsell’s true colors are blue/red and green. Dollar signs an d absolutely zero loyalty to the city that provided him with the avenue to the Cubs. His interview was even worse today as he showed he could care less what the fans feel.
    The Crew is much better off with Pat Murphy ..
    Hmmm..which team is at the top of the standings, Craig?

    I wonder if Vince Lombardi had not died while serving as head coach of the Washington Redskins. Would he have been booed by the fans in Green Bay when the Packers played them again?

    • @jrm2383

      @@jasontaverner391 he retired from coaching to become gm then moved on. Still completely different situations. He also left an aging team that had run its course, unlike the Brewers who are up and coming with one of the youngest teams. I hope l didn’t forget any other semantic details

    • @jasontaverner391
      @jasontaverner391 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jrm2383 Wrong. He was already GM and Coach of the Packers. since 1959. If he left an "aging team that had run its course" that's entirely his making, since he made the picks and trades. Lombardi made the decision unilaterally, instead of allowing the executive committee to pick the coach, to pick Bengston as coach, when George Allen and Chuck Noll were right there. On the eve of the 1969 draft, knowing he was leaving for the Redskins, he dumped the draft in a completely unprepared Bengston's lap, who proceeded to make the worst draft picks in Packer history.
      Lombardi made several BAD GM decisions during his tenure, including paying more for rookie Donnie Anderson and allowing Jim Taylor to leave for free agency, completely overestimating Don Horn's QB abilities. The Packer running game was in decline since 1965 because of Lombardi's OL tinkering and bad RB decisions, placing much more of the burden on the passing game and the defense,
      Lombardi wanted part-ownership of the team and made a secret deal with the Redskins owner before the Packers 1968 game with Washington.

      @@jasontaverner391 they finished 6-7-1 next year. Most of the stars were past their prime. Many over 30 or late twenties which was old back then. They had their run. And to blame Lombardi for the condition of the team is ridiculous! He won 2 Super Bowls with them. And he didn’t go to Chicago for more money, which was my point.
