    I still remember in college when I made ramen, pizza rolls or chicken nuggets, my Azerbaijani roommate was so amazed because she said they dont have instant and frozen food like that and they only eat fresh foods. She looked great then and still looks great now.

    Your parents raised you right!!! I love the fact that you eat home cooked meals. Healthy choices don't have to make you crazy or cost a lot of money. Common sense and listening to your own body goes a long way indeed!!

    Here in Spain we don’t snack either. And eating heathy is cheaper than buying fast food: you cut a tomato with some letuce, some salt and olive oil, and a grilled chicken breast. It costs little and it is ready in ten minutes. So many simple and cheap possibilities to eat. I don’t understand the difficulty.

    I discovered Intuitive Eating when in treatment for Binge Eating Disorder (BED). I pretty much developed it because of a lot of childhood trauma, being forced to eat past being full/"clean your plate because children in Africa are starving", and I have PCOS and thyroid problems, which mess with my hunger signals.
    All of this came from therapy and I can't stress the mental and emotional connection that exists with food.

I loved how you mentioned the healthy and happy relationship you have with food, which usually we forget, and rarely mentioned. I'm a very slender person. I really do think that it's mostly because I also don't drink much-- no more than half of a drink maybe 1-2 times a month. Wine can have benefits, however alcohol reeks havoc on the body and you usually will want late-night food afterwards.

    Jamila, you are lovely and your philosophy towards food seems positive, wholesome, and disciplined. No judgement, clarifying for the expectations and health of viewers- If I heard you correctly, approximately 5’8” and 112 lbs is a BMI of 17. It is my understanding that anything under 18.5 BMI would be considered underweight.

    • @julianabastidasc1911
      @julianabastidasc1911 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I agree with you. I'm her same height and I usually weigh around 130 lbs (60kg), I'm also naturally slim and don't really restrict myself with food. I also eat home cooked meals, etc. Last year I got down to 120 lbs (56kg) and my nutritionist and other doctors freaked out because I was creeping into the underweight range... she should clarify this because she is medically underweight and idk if sh'e the right person to give workout or diet advice based on that, or to say that she's "maintaining" her weight which is medically underweight

    • @RumiRose12
      @RumiRose12 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I personally am `underweight` according to the BMI (I'm 51 kg, 165 cm tall) but I really don't feel comfortable with this weight. I want to loose about 6 kgs because that's who I feel good. So judging that someone is underweight or overweight should not be in discussion, as long as the person feels good about themselves.

That's 30 mins some do not have at all, and so you have to recognize that some comments are simply coming from a place of hurt and anger because our realities are not the same. Hi Jamila, I really love your videos 😊 but I am a little concerned about the advice in this one around tying something around your waist when you eat. This seems to be a practice to stop yourself eating as much as you should, which is not a healthy mindset to have. My lovely ladies out there, please do not use this to try and lose weight, it’s not healthy and could lead you down a path of disordered eating. You are allowed to eat until you are full and satisfied and being a little bloated after eating is 100% normal, our bodies fluctuate over the course of the day.

    • @a.c528

      This is definitely a better approach. I understand where Jamila is coming from but it is very centred around “skinny” is better and her advice can definitely be taken the wrong way and quite frankly it is pretty disordered. Eat until you are satiated and having a belly that is slightly bloated is normal and okay, under eating can result in binge eating very easily!

    At 175 and 50 kilos you are very much too thin. I’m not sure why it’s appropriate for someone whose medically underweight to encourage others to follow suit. You are clearly extremely restrictive with your food intake and I don’t think that’s wise. Doing this is unhealthy and gives a frail, sunken appearance that is very ageing. You are a pretty lady but would look much better, and much younger, if you stopped your restrictive regime and put on at least 10 but preferably 15 kilos. All the best to you.

    I like your approach but I just wanna say something about muscle growth, it's ok to think you don't want to grow massive muscles and feel masculine, but it takes such a LOOOONG time to grow the amount of muscle to look masculine, especially for a woman. You'd have to take steroids to gain muscle mass as easily as a man.

      @@MysteryExodus well you can think that but many researchers and body builders would disagree with you. It takes at least a year to build significant muscle mass to look somewhat toned, which doesn’t even make you look masculine. So you’re simply factually wrong by calling it not true.

    • @monicawilson8075
      @monicawilson8075 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think for some people anything past toned it looks muscular. I struggle with this. Ive never been very bug but my arms will never look "skinny" people always think im very toned or work out even when ive been sitting on my but for a year. Sounds like a ridiculous complaint, but i hate my arms and have to be extremely careful not to work out my arms when i do work out. This lady is extremely petite and slender, I don't think a natural athletic build, so I cant imagine her being at risk of looking muscular unless she starts lifting heavy weights : p

  • @ccts547
    @ccts547 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    While your advice is coming from a good place and you are encouraging healthy habits, it definitely is pretty disordered and comes from the perspective that skinny equals healthy. Restricting yourself from eating to satiety can very easily result in binge eating, instead people should opt for high volume low calorie foods (if the goal is weight loss) or foods rich in protein or fibre to fill you up. Eating with a waist trainer or chain around your stomach is completely disordered. Having a slightly bloated belly after eating is normal and is evidence that you’ve eaten!
