IDK, my geese completely ignore the chickens, they only come around them during feeding time and if one steps in front of them they almost get their head chewed off. My geese are mean to them… but they love me and that’s all that matters!
Hi Jill, We didn't before but now we do. We have the ducks and chickens near the main run so that they can see each other a few weeks before we introduce them and we find that helps reduce aggression and it helps acclimate them better. Thanks for the question!
@@marsalafamilyfarm6292 thanks for answering. I'm concerned about potential disease transmission. I just got my first goose. I hatched all of my chicks or got them from a nursery so I wasn't as concerned about diseases when introducing new hatchlings. But this is someone's 2 month old gosling from a farm with probably a hundred birds of unknown history and health. I hate to keep her by herself, because I am concerned about her being lonely. She can see the flock, which I am guessing will help. How long do you recommend quarantining her?
@@jillkanto3610 Hi Jill, Seeing the other birds will help. I would recommend a 2 week quarantine to make sure there are no signs of health issues. We also supplement Organic Apple Cider Vinegar in their water to boost their immune systems. (1 Tablespoon per gallon). Hope this helps! Thank you, Marsala Family Farm.
Raising endangered geese and ducks best to imprint them on each other the earliest possible. Birds bond at once they hatched. If you want them to look after a puppy bond them together. Human ect. But I think this a stressful way to bond and they won't imprint when both or mixed species are fully grown.

Fascinating
Unfortunately Buffy the guard goose has died from the Avian Influenza H5N1. :(
Do you quarantine the goose/ducks before introducing them? If so, how long?

Very nice. Jesus loves you ^^
Thank you very much! God Bless!
Goose must be male or female?
She is a female. It can be a male or female but the key is to only have one goose or they will pair up and not do there job.

@@heathergriswold7037 Would you bond with others after a week of being in the same coop with them? Yes,,,,, yes you would…
Roosters gonna hurt her. You have to imprint them with each other when there babies not full grown ugh
They did not end up hurting her. But I will be cognisant of that next time. Thank you.
That’s not true…. I’ve introduced many birds to my flock over the years. They deal… no need to be dramatic 😅
