Than! You so much for this... I miss Germany so much I loved living there as a teen. I actually shed a tear watching this... Thanks so much loved your video.😁😁
It's a shame there isn't anything indicating the old Hanau American High School was there. I was in the freshman class in 1978 there. We lived in Aschaffenburg ('76-'79), but didn't have a high school there. Lots of good times on the soccer fields and courtyards of the school.
Would be nice to have seen the Sportfield Elementary, and Old Argonner Elementary school. So many memories there. I was about 7 years old in Kindergarten. Shout out to Sportfield, and Hanau, Germany from the early 90s. 1991-1993!
I went to both from the early-to-late 80s. Left November 10, 1988. Lived in New Argonner across from Campo Pond and the BOQ, first building squaring the huge playground, same street as the dispensary. You could see the foot of the walk bridge leading between New and Old Argonner out our back windows. Can't believe they closed all of this back in 2008, but glad the Germans finally got their land back. So many memories
Thanks for sharing, but just so you know, that is not the high school. That is the old middle school. The high school faced the main road with the tennis courts off to the left. I believe it was torn down.
Yes, I am aware of this building focused on in the vid, is not being the High School, and in the vid I added many annotations throughout, 1-day after it was uploaded, to clarify my narration. As you mentioned, the Hanau High School has been cleared. The Middle School expanded. And the area has undergone a tremendous change since Hanau Milcom closed in August 2008. There's also very few signs that 3 schools used to be at this location, as well as the Billeting Hotel, next to the Teen Center, where I used to work for Youth Services. In the description underneath this video, I also made sure to annotate that I had thought the former Hanau High School was now attached to the new German school - which has replaced the former Hanau Middle School - because, the Middle School is so big! Lastly, in the description area under the video, I left a link to Google Earth so everyone can see the ole New Argonner location - these days. Including where Hanau High was. You must of checked out the vide on a cellphone, or an I-Pad, or similar device..? On these gadgets, the video's annotations do not show. Oh well, thanks for watching and for the info you sent relating to this topic. Cheers!
I was at Argonner for 2 years then went to the Hanau American Middle School for the final 3 years. Sadly didn't goto the Highschool there I left and started Highschool back in the States. I miss going to school there. I lived in Hainstadt which was one of the next towns over, so I road the bus to school.
its near lamboystraBe, forgotten-frankfurt.blogspot.com/2008/06/hanau-cardwell-village.html, the street it was on is Chemnitzer straBe, it was military housing but was not gated, so you would be able to get a lot of footage I think
For those not watching this video on their computer, or some other device that has an adequate size screen (like laptop size), you probably won't be able to see the annotations written into this video. The annotations had to be added after the vid was made because, it wasn't realized that the Hanau High School had been totally cleared from its location on Hanau's - former, New Argonner Kaserne. I thought that the Middle School building was somehow attached to the ole High School now, because the Middle School is so large! I see now that it has been expanded. I also hadn't been in this location for about 14-years before capturing this footage. So, please forgive me for any inaccurate narration. My intentions were and are only the best. BTW, those checking out this vid on a cellphone or maybe even an I-Pad, or similar device, won't be able to see the annotations on screen either. Nevertheless, much respect to former Hanau Milcom, and if you'd like to make a request for me to go on location, just toss me a message, and I'll see what I can do. Auf Wiedersehn!
This was so interesting. I went to Hanua back in the 1970s when it first opened. Thank u for sharing.
