I used to have a mental impression that I hated the pitcher’s guts & w 2 strikes open up stance & crouch a little more to almost shrink his strike zone, I’m curious of what was in your mind, I found that my pretend seething hatred created a mental zone where nothing else mattered in the world for those few seconds I’m a Huge Fan of yours too & I really appreciate this unique insight!!
Haven't played in years, but back when I played my 2 strike approach was to become a pest. Shorten up a bit, try to go oppo (like you mentioned), foul off the tough stuff, and don't miss the mistake/frustration pitch. I used to be a leadoff/2 hole guy so starting a game with a 11 pitch out was still a pretty successful AB, plus this pestering allowed me to work the count back in my favor from the pitcher over compensating to get the K. Great video as always Matt!
Matt, thank you for explaining 2 strike hitting simply and visually. To many times players are told to let the ball get deep or think opposite field, and to most kids in high school they have no real idea on what the heck this means, and end up waiting to late and swinging to late. I always had the approach that I was going to look to drive the ball between the gaps with fast ball and react to off speed, and believing and trusting in my hands and always have confidence in visualizing your results before you hit.
Been watching your videos awhile now but i rarely comment on youtube. I come from baseball family. Grandpa had cup of coffee with tigers and my dad made it to AA before getting drafted. My point is your calling Matt is coaching. You explain everything simple to how and why you do it this way. Unless your vlad guerraro then hit everything.Great job.
Hey Matt thanks for the video. Couple follow up questions I had: 1) since your trying to get the fastball deep to drive it opposite field, are you sitting fastball away because of that? And 2) if it’s an inside fastball, are you just trying your best to fight it off since you’re trying to get it deep? Just trying to enhance my knowledge as a coach. Thanks for all the great baseball content you put out.
Probably not your intention but you have really helped my hitting in mlb the show LoL I don’t strike out all the time now I might actually make it to AAA
Strikeout avoidance is good in youth levels too since defense is youth level. For a typical youngster, you can "hit" .100 or .150 just by putting in in play. PS - I am talking about normal youths, not us (who were all ELITE defenders) or our kids all of whom at age 9 have buzz in the scouting community about how twenty good gloves are basically a given in their projections....
When you got your major league contract was it stressful when or if family members or friends start asking for money or asking for tickets... what’s the downside to being in the major leagues ... thank you in advance ,and thank you for all the insight
The moment a scouting report came to a pitcher that a batter rarely swung on an 0-2 count hunting a ball I'm going to guess most pitchers will just send a fastball in the middle of the zone
Great video Matt. One of my son's coaches does the same routine for two strikes.

Love your videos. Strategy for 2 strike hitting in fast pitch softball?

Fantastic video - wisdom right here fellas.
This is very valuable.

I’d say I’m looking middle away. Fastball in I do my best to fight it off

MLB the show be like: SWING AT EVERYTHING
This is my playstyle in The Show TBH
My season just finished and nothing better then watching Matt after getting home..
what's the best way to get into coaching and managing out of high school so I can stay with the game as long as possible like you have?
What about a fastball on the inside part of the plate? Should a batter let that travel or should they turn and burn on it?
Got to just try to fight it off. Probably going to be a bit late, but do the best you can
Can’t wait for an Antonelli student to get 3000 mlb hits.
Great job in the two strikes approach.
Thanks Matt
What was the first high priced purchase you made after getting your first big league check
Fire vid🔥 gonna help me in my tournament
This actually helped because I was tryna get out infront of a fastball then got a curve and I looked stupid
Hey Matt, I just got an ad for a smart baseball so it would be nice if you could do a video on them.
How to hit with 2 strikes? Call nick madrigal
Great stuff!
sorry i wasnt paying attention coach i was distracted by how drip the shirt is.
thanks for the tips as always
Thank you!!!!!!!
React to the pitsbergh pirates forgetting to touch first base
You hit the ball before it gets into the catchers mitt…

How to hit with 2 strikes???? Just emulate Anthony Rizzo and Joey Votto!
If only it were that easy! Lol
Change nothing, remember the launch angle uppercut, swing hard, grab your seat on the bench.
And watch out for splinters when you sit down.
I have never played baseball why am I watching this
I wish I had this knowledge back in 8th grade.
I wish I had followed my dream
But life had other plans
Two strike hitting? You mean just hitting normally?
Have you ever played baseball
No I mean hitting with 2 strikes on you
2 strikes? Slap it oppo and take the single!
just don't strike out :D
I thought that most batters would expect a ball so they wouldn't swing especially at 0-2 count
What if it’s a strike?
@@AntonelliBaseball Of course that's not what they expect but I guess probability is also part of the game
