When they were released as this solo-able raid on the go, I really felt it was enjoyable. When they were no longer solo-able, I had no one to do them with and they just don't exist for me. I am no longer invested enough to drive through the entire city to meet others. Just as I couldn't do the 5* raids locally on a consistent basis.
Everything you said is spot on. As a high level player who plays with 3 other family members, us 4 beat all raids with no problem, including primals and mega rayquaza. The problem is we cant touch gigantamax pokemon. In theory, it would've made more sense to create another mega type energy for gigantamax so we can use our already owned dynamax pokemon, but nooooooo. Cant do that, gotta get the actual gigantamax. Dynamax system seems like a great money maker for niantic, but my family is actually thinking of taking a break as the way dynamax system bums us out.
Yeah, I think they're setting themselves up more for new players and just hoping older players keep going. I've been thinking of how they could let us make older Pokemon into Dmax/Gmax version, but most of what I come up with just defeats the purpose of a new system. The best I've come up with is an MP "bank" that we can contribute to, and maybe once you sacrifice enough MP into it, it gives you an item that can grant Dmax to an older Pokemon.
@@PokeeSeanGO It’s so weird Niantic decided to make max mushrooms into a power boost. I was expecting that it would be a rare item that you could only get at certain big events (go fest, wild area, etc.), and then pay for a ticket for more. That is because I thought they would do the same as in Sword and Shield, where they can unlock Gigantamax. Now that they turned max mushrooms into a power boosts instead, I don’t think we will ever get something that lets us turn a Dynamax Pokémon into a Gigantamax Pokémon.
I wish they'd make these into a queue system. Like how the battle castles in Harry Potter Wizards United were. You basically had to go to the spot and enter the battle locally, but then you'd get partied up with random players at other spots. They did eventually change that due to covid as well of course, but that was a really good system that I feel like you can still decide to meet up with a lot of people, but even if you can't you still get to do the content. What they are doing with dynamax battles is 100% alienating a lot of people and they need to adress that. I also do have a slight hope that these legendary dynamax mons aren't exactly as hard as the gigantamax ones so maybe it's not too impossible to beat. They do also launch them on a monday... like worst day of the week to launch something.
My biggest problem is that they turn on and off at random, so you can’t decide on a meeting place earlier than the day of the battles. For the Gigantamax Lapras raid day, we just hoped enough power spots would be available near the place we were planning to start. But the fact that they are based on businesses, makes them placed a lot worse than pokéstops and gyms, since there just aren’t any in parks.
I do way more dmax raids now a days than actual raids, they just feel more affordable then spending 5 R.R passes a day (1,050 Pcoins a day) you get max particles 1000-1400 for free plus whatever you had leftover from your last play and you are pretty much set. And when I decide to throw money at niatanic to do more dmax raids pass the daily limit for free particles; those MP tubes are quite handy and are cheap aswell and gives you enough to do a couple or almost a dozen more raids depending on what you are raiding for or if you are buying the 3pack or not. ((me rambling & and glazing the Dmax feature lol)) although not a flawless feature I honestly I think Dmax and Gmax is a nice slice of fresh air for high lvl players who are at endgame bored out of their minds
I actually really like that they're at different tiers so you can do a good number of lower level battles each day for free. Machop being 400 MP is a little much, though. But knowing I can easily get a couple dozen extra Squirtle candy or whatever is kinda nice. I have a lucky 100% gmax Blastoise that needs to eat.

Not to mention, I think the battles themselves and the mechanics behind using different moves is way more interesting than spam-tapping your screen for max DPS in a normal raid. Maybe I’m a shmuck and Niantic is just trying to squeeze more money and data from me, but I like the state of the system at the moment 🤷🏻♂️
I guess I'm just one of those few players who want high iv maxed out legendary teams? I had been doing tons of raids before the remote raid cap and price hike. I rarely do any now. For me, it's just not worth the time or money if I'm not able to grind for high ivs, shinys, and xl candy to max a couple. I enjoy the max battles quite a bit. However, I do very few of them either because I don't have the community that want to do more than a handful and I can't get enough xl candy to make it worth it even if I am able to catch a nice iv one. Also, it used to just be a nice iv or shiny iv I was looking for. Now it is that, plus a special background, and it might not even have the needed moveset... Just not the kind of odds I'm even willing to attempt or bother with. Am I going to wait to be able to elite TM my shiny 96 iv dialga when that becomes available? Probably not, because something better will have came along before that. Then the cycle will start again. So basically just not bothering with any of it.

I hope you're right about them capping Dynamax at 4-players. With Gmax being 40 (or possibly uncapped), I could see them making the lobbies for a 5-star Dmax hold more than 4. I actually wasn't around for the remote raid days, either. I started playing again just as they made that change. I couldn't then, and still can't, justify spending money on remote raids.
As someone who has played every day since mid 2017, I have never used real money on remote passes, and on spend pokécoins on them a few times, since I just don’t find them as enjoyable as going out with friends. During the lockdown we did get a lot of free remote passes, so I used those but never liked it. I’m actually very happy they made them more expensive, because some people in our local community, would ask to be invited to a raid and just send their friend code on facebook, instead of going outside for twenty minutes. I really hated that phase of the game, so I’m glad it’s over.
It would be lame as hell if people could just plow through max battles with level 50 pokemon they caught previously. Everyone would be complaining the feature is pointless, it's too easy. You have to prepare for raids as a new player too, or shell out 5.25 for 3 raids, or 1$-1.95 if you didn't save pokecoins from gyms. Anyways, you're completely missing the function of max battles altogether. If you or anyone else, including new players, intend to raise your pokemons level from 50-60, you will need a lot more XL candies. Max battles serve one function, collect species you want candy for with as minimal investment as possible through max battles, legendaries included. Once you've gotten enough, 8-20 ect, drop those legendaries into power spots so people doing battles on them can generate candy for you. Gym raids require that you invest into multiples of the same pokemon, like a full 5-6 team of 1 species to be optimal. That isn't even debatable, to show off soloing 5 star raids or carry a friend duo with ease. Max battles just require you to have 2 tanks, and 1 damage counter, that's it. And that's really only for challenging max battles, candy farming you bring 1 damage dealer and any legendary you intend to farm without even powering it up for the sole purpose of parking it on the power spot. Drop a maximum of 20 legendaries into power spots at once, be patient, you'll see exactly what I mean. At some point sooner than later, they will unlock the greyed out XL collect function rather than the regular candy collect function when your pokemon return, and you will be gaining 5XL candies for that legendary. Which you will absolutely need for the Massive investment for lvl 60 pokemon. You can easily achieve more than 20 raids a day, but doing more than 20 max battles is inefficient for candy, it requires you to pull pokemon out of power spots that may have collected nothing. Max battles also have a gamba mechanic, as more legendaries are released, having at least 1 gigantamax pokemon on a power spot will have the chance to spawn that dynamax legendary either as a rare spawn, or as a feature of a particular event. In any case. You are not going to be dropping your max battle attackers into power spots, you won't be able to raid with them, or do grunts with them if they are parked. They will also fuel XL candy for you, as you're not exactly required to fully invest in every single max battle legendary. Just the minimum attack and defense counters. Like I said earlier, you only need 2 tanks and 1 counter to take the harder shit down. So in many cases, you'll have zero incentive to power them up at all. Iv got 1 powered up gigantamax toxicitry, charizard, venusaur. I don't need battle ready copies of these, since, thr first two slots will ALWAYS be taken by tanks. I encourage you to think about all of this a little harder instead of being salty.
Great video and great take on the new system. I like the new system, but my Wed night raid group refuses to participate unfortunately. It’s normal raids or nothing unless you’re in a city.
Yeah, I think they would have had more success with this system if they'd introduced it sooner. So many players at this point really don't need to go after Dynamax to complete their Pokedex or even power up their current Legendary lineup.
A lot of people in my community keep asking what these Dynamax Pokémon are even good for. And I keep answering: “The same as raids, you need them to take on even stronger Pokémon, because eventually they will release new Pokémon like Eternatus which will only be available in eternamax battles. So we need to be ready.” I feel very confident that’s how we will end up getting Eternatus.
The answer is nothing. They don't work outside of dynamax or gigantamax battles. Niantic made a pokemon go 2 inside pokemon go. Who would invest time and resources into pokemon that can't be used anywhere else. They are essentially a new type of shadow pokemon that refuse to stay in there form like mega pokemon do but with none of usefulness. At least mega pokemon stay that way for 8 hours at a time. If they release pokemon that are exclusive to max battles that aren't able to be used in raids i can see another large chunk of the community quitting from complete frustration.
@@Treebornfrog5383 What do you mean? The Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon are the only ones who can be used everywhere in the game. I powered up a Metagross for use in max battles, and now it keeps being used for gyms and raids. It is also very likely that some Pokémon will be released exclusively through max battles. I feel certain that’s how they will release Eternatus.
@@ulrikruby Why would i power up a dynamax metagross when i have multiple level 50 shadow metagross that are better in ever possible way. It just makes no sense.
Great video! Your videos help me out a lot and this one was very eye opening for me. I returned to pogo in April 2024 from last playing spring 2018. I am missing a lot so I do honestly spend more money than my peers for the candies and stardust. I am in the medical field with limited time to play so impatience is a driving factor. I've been trying to take it more easier because you're right. Everything comes back eventually
I spent WAY more than I thought I would when I got back into the game. It's definitely hard to keep up with limited time. it took a while for me to chill out, but seeing things like the Origin Forms and Primals cycle through twice this year really opened my eyes.
DMax and GMax pokemon were added solely for them to make more money. Max and Dmax is trying to make EVERYTHING you caught, up until now, useless. They want you to have to buy more storage space, they want you to have to buy max energy, they want you to buy the 2x mushrooms. This was the only thing they could come up with that basically makes people start over while spending more and more money. Niantic could have kept remote raids unlimited and been making bank, but they'd rather change everything else we already had to make their new money. Niantic has proven time and time again that they don't care about the players. The only people ive seen support d-bag, I mean Dmax, battles are the people who have played every day since launch. My community has TONS of active players and almost no one shows up for the max stuff bc no one cares and no one wants to have to collect all the pokemon again just bc it has a new ability. If they really wanted the max system to work they would have allowed older pokemon to max out and not just ones you catch at a max raid.
This game is basically unplayable as a new player without spending $10 on item bag or pokemon bag. No idea what items are good or not so its googling and absorbing 7 years of information as a brand new player, or increasing inventory size
Week one player here. These dmax and gmax raids were dead on arrival imo. The fact they can't be used outside of the max battle system makes them worthless and niantic needs to give the playerbase a reason to care about them. I'll use the free partials most days to do shiny checks and collect rare candy and i do gmax raids for the dex and that's about it. Use to be a hardcore player, but now just regular. I am absolutely one of those players that gets the best mons/iv's and maxes out stuff wherever possible for raids. I respect your opinion but politely disagree. I feel dynamax/gigantamax battles will go the same as mega raids. Pretty terrible and not well released, but they will be fixed and get better over time. I think max battles could be really good, they just need some major changes to align with the rest of the game. I don't know whether that's possible with the way niantic operate these days but i'm optimistic.
The only people that like them are the freeloading noobs that people like me carry in the raids they cannot even do the 3 star dmax stars without people like me that can solo them helping them spend a lot of dust and xl candy power my pokemon up plus got more than one account for the 5/6 star raids and they still suck and not worth the reward due to costing more energy to do them so got to find a bunch of power spots or spend coins to do more.
I think the Gigantamax money making system is flawed because Gmax battles are only accessible to power players or for those that live in very active communities. Up until the legendary birds reveal, there was absolutely no incentive to do any Gmax battles. Gmax Pokemon are regular Pokemon that have no benefits outside of their special battles.
I think it's the normal Dmax legendary, like the the birds, that will be more lucrative. And once enough people have teams of Dmax Legendary Pokemon, they'll be able to take down Gmax with smaller groups more regularly.
I don’t understand the point of saying “Gmax Pokémon are regular Pokémon that have no benefits outside of their special battle.” The same can be said for regular raids. Legendaries are just regular Pokémon too, you don’t need them for anything in the game. The only thing that is actually useful is Mega/Primal Pokémon, since they give you bonuses when catching. Raids and max raids have the exact same incentive. Get this to make the next easier. Max Pokémon at least have the advantage, that you can use them everywhere, so investing stardust and candy into my Dynamax Metagross is just better than doing it with a non Dynamax version.
@@ulrikruby Why would i invest in dynamax pokemon that is inferior when i already have the regular pokemon or legendary already maxed or close to and 100% or 98% iv. This thinking only really applies to casual and new players. "Max Pokémon at least have the advantage, that you can use them everywhere" That's like bringing a mega pokemon to a raid and not mega evolving it and saying they can be used everywhere. Do you realise how unintelligent that sounds?
@@Treebornfrog5383 I understand not wanting to power up a Pokémon that is in many ways inferior to the Pokémon you already have. But think about it this way. Why did you originally power up those Pokémon? You probably did it to make raiding or taking out gyms easier. Now you have the same incentive for max raids. You can just ignore the max raids if you don’t care about them, no one is forcing you to do them. Just don’t get mad if they release a new Pokémon through max raids and you can’t beat it, because you ignored the feature.
4:18 unless or until D/G-Max battles can be remoted, i REFUSE to play that system , remote raids was the future of Pokémon go and Nerfantic is spiteful towards the remote raids was community
I’m happy people have to go out. People that are crying are those that sit around and want to spend. They too lazy to go to power stations and walk 2km a day.
I actually like that they're not remote-able, too. Way more people showed up for them in my small community, and it was nice to get together with everyone.
I just don't want to be limited because of all their laziness. We've got plenty of those here. We currently have four communities coming together for Gmax battles, some of us traveling an hour on those days. Even then, there are those that just want an entry into the pokedex. All I'm saying is, if you didn't help raid for a Gmax pokemon, do not ever request it from me in a trade.
Why did Michael lied in our faces about location data tho 😂??? oh and for dynamax legendaries if I already have a hundo or decent shiny already than I’m just gonna completely ignore it lol not gonna fall into the trap can’t believe they actually want people to rebuild all these Pokemon again no thanks 😅
Yeah, established players really don't need to touch them, unless they want the Pokedex entries for Gmax. Until they start releasing new Pokemon exclusively through the Max system...
It's killing the game not fixing it even worse than remote nerf all peoples past pokemon are useless only people that are going to be left playing if you can call it that are spoofers they are the ones that benefit from not being able to do remote.
PvP is the only reason to play any pokemon game. If you want to play collecting just get a free emulator and a pokemon rom. No need to put yourself in potential danger interacting with strangers in a park after dark.
I’d enjoy PvP more if I didn’t need to spend so much time building a team the organic way. I’d argue that PvP is better through battle emulation where you can just pick your Pokémon, stats, and moves, and have a pure competition.
I personally much prefer the battle system of max battles, so I would be fine with them becoming a bigger part of the game. My only issue with that, is that they don’t include many max particles in the boxes you can buy. Currently three max battles (800 particles per battle) would cost 425 pokécoins, while three raid battles would cost 250. But I never buy raid passes that expensive (83.33 per pass), since you can save up pokécoins and buy big boxes with lots of raid passes at better prices (54 per pass). They need to do this for max particles too, if they want low spending and F2P players to actually spend pokécoins on dynamax battles, because currently they are just too expensive for me to want to buy max particles. If I knew people had max particles in their bag, it would also make it more likely that I would buy the event ticket for a Gigantamax raid day. Currently I wouldn’t, because you can only use the bonuses if enough people are willing to do more max raids. For the Gigantamax Lapras day, I advised everyone I talked to, not to buy the ticket, since we would need a lot of players to buy it before it would actually be useful. And when we had taken three Gigantamax raids that day, most people wanted to do more until they realized they couldn’t. There weren’t enough people willing to pay for more particles, to actually defeat another raid. But if I could buy max particles in bulk, and for a better price, I would definitely do more of these raids.

I respect your perspective, i prefer Remote raids than D/G-Max battles
So we need to be ready.”
I feel very confident that’s how we will end up getting Eternatus.
They just really don't like the solo player...
I never thought about it this way
Thank you for enlighten me. Imagine, raids, a side quest...
True, and they consider multi account players to be cheaters. Truly punished for not having PoGo friends.
They costing them money because cannot remote them making people quit that could only remote raid due to the limited time of the events.
This game is basically unplayable as a new player without spending $10 on item bag or pokemon bag. No idea what items are good or not so its googling and absorbing 7 years of information as a brand new player, or increasing inventory size
I would love more stuff like this please and thanks
The only people that like them are the freeloading noobs that people like me carry in the raids they cannot even do the 3 star dmax stars without people like me that can solo them helping them spend a lot of dust and xl candy power my pokemon up plus got more than one account for the 5/6 star raids and they still suck and not worth the reward due to costing more energy to do them so got to find a bunch of power spots or spend coins to do more.
great video, finally realized the slap in face of what I am facing going forward. They don't care about the original players.
I don’t understand the point of saying “Gmax Pokémon are regular Pokémon that have no benefits outside of their special battle.”
The same can be said for regular raids.
I don't care about dynamax battles, they don't affect me positively or negatively, they are just there
They do hurt you lots of people only going be limited to 5/6 star d/gmax raids that might not be allowed to be traded.
4:18 unless or until D/G-Max battles can be remoted, i REFUSE to play that system , remote raids was the future of Pokémon go and Nerfantic is spiteful towards the remote raids was community
You can remote anything with spoofing just use a spoof you pay for or you risk getting detected and banned.
Good video mate
@@SS-or7mz I’ve done every gmax fight and prepared by getting every correct gmax Pokémon. I don’t use trash like in your community.
Being disabled and unable to walk is fun because of privilaged people like this being everywhere providing jokes all day in every comment section
To me it’s just another free raid every day. Why not just take advantage of more free stuff. If you have the time.
It's killing the game not fixing it even worse than remote nerf all peoples past pokemon are useless only people that are going to be left playing if you can call it that are spoofers they are the ones that benefit from not being able to do remote.
I'ma just stop playing
Valid.
