    This is one of my favourite lenses ever - The images captured are beautiful - I've used it from everything to wildlife to portraits to wedding and action photography. A beautiful review.

    I love this lens! This is my favorite hiking and nature lens for my Sony A7iv. So lightweight and enjoyable to use with great image quality! I think it's a great companion to the 200-600mm with just the right amount of focal lengths overlap.

    Thank you for your thoughts on this Len's. I've been a photographer for 49 years way before stabilization on lenses and I find this Len's to work great with my Sony camera. It's nice to see people share their thoughts on gear that help others to make a decision on if the gear will be for them. So thank you for sharing. Much appreciated. All the best from the UK. Great video.

    Just bought it and use it for my content. Surprisingly, the quality beyond my expectations, with my A6700, the landscapes are fantastic

    What a wonderful hike and beautiful views! :)
    Thank you for the information, pretty much agree with you at every aspect to considering what lens bring when you are going for a hike or even for a "purposeful trip" better to have a little less quality than no having the shot because of heavy/bulky lenses that may not fit in your bagpack.

    How would you compare the Tamron 70-300 to the Sony 70-350 on an A7RIV?

    I borrowed a buddies 70-300mm (Tamron) and used it for some street action. Unfortunately, I had to return it to them. Fortunately, one was ordered from BestBuy and should be arriving anytime this week.

    I shoot with both full frame (A7iii) and a crop sensor (A6600) cameras and use the Sony70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 on my A6600... Only on the crop camera? Well. I always used my 100-400mm Canon lens on my crop sensor Canon 7Dii and never had a problem with the crop sensor. The 70-350mm lens is more expensive and I would have likely selected the Tamron if it had been available when I purchased the Sony 70-350mm. Since both the Tamron and the Sony lenses are rather slow, the OSS in my Sony lens is quite useful despite both cameras having IBIS.

  • @ckdesignlab
    @ckdesignlab 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I got this lens last week and love it! I don't have IBIS in my a6300 but it's not a big deal so far. Focusing at 300mm is wobbly but I'm getting some nice shots. I'm looking forward to getting some architecture, animal and moon shots. I've to taken some moon shots but I need practice but I'm getting there! I was thinking to get the Sony 70-300 but it was still $400 more on sale and I couldn't justify the cost just for IBIS. Overall, the Tamron is fun and takes some amazing shots. Love it!

    Hello. I just found your channel. We’re avid hiker/vloggers. We use a Canon M50 and only have the kit lens and a Sigma 18mm. I really want a telephoto for this camera. Pardon my ignorance but I’m interested in the Tamron 70-300 that you’re reviewing. The quality/price point is good and the light weight is a bonus. Do you have a recommendation for this camera, and what about an adapter? Thank you kindly.

  • @duonkaah
    @duonkaah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Perhaps the sigma 100-400mm would be a better comparison instead of the 200-600.
    I'm wondering if the image stabilization and the extra range is worth the extra weight and money

    • @RohannvanRensburg
      @RohannvanRensburg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still can't figure this out either. It honestly doesn't look like OS does all that much for what most people use it for, considering you have to be about 1/200+ for moving subjects anyway.

  • @EveKronen
    @EveKronen ปีที่แล้ว

    I own the Tamron 70-300mm My frustration when shooting wildlife or nature is how "far" must I be from the subject to get a nice shot? Headed to Denali National Park and other stops in Alaska in August. Hopefully whales and a bear or two on a photo safari. Also own the Sony 24-105mm which I have used in Yellowstone and other parks and great for landscape.

    • @ckdesignlab
      @ckdesignlab 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Buy the a6500 or A6600. Both have image stabilization. The a6600 has a much better battery and doesn't overheat taking videos.

    I'd love to see some E-mount copycats of the canon RF 600 f11 and 800 f11 lenses! I just received the nikon 200-500 f5.6 which you've reviewed quite a bit in the past from lensrentals for an upcoming trip, but boy oh boy is this thing heavy on my d3400! :-). It sure is nice though to have a 70-300 in the bag that's relatively easy to take with you- this 200-500 won't be quite as easy!

    • @LeighAndRaymond
      @LeighAndRaymond  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a review of that as well... th-cam.com/video/bTTg_Donw4s/w-d-xo.html I was highly impressed with the clarity of both and I would be happy to put either in my camera bag.

    • @edc641
      @edc641 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LeighAndRaymond I've actually seen it (at least twice 🙂)! But I'm having a really hard time deciding which one of the two to get. I already have the 28-75f2.8, that I'm very happy with, but the extra reach of the 28-200 could make it the perfect one lens to rule them all when on a 10+ day hike in Lapland. On the other hand the 70-300 would be a nice complement to the lens I already have 🤔 Desicions! Anyway, really like your reviews. Very informative. Merry Christmas!

    • @RohannvanRensburg
      @RohannvanRensburg 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edc641 I'm sort of in the same boat but faster aperture for the portraits/candids I do on the side of landscapes mean I'm currently (likely) keeping my 28-75. The 28-200 is definitely a candidate for The One Lens.

    I am large lens but my wallet is small lens. My needs are 5 times a year out for eagles and I recently found out about an otter location. So far I have had no otter encounters. I shoot Fuji so I am ever hopeful that 3rd party lenses will happen.

      Are you happy with your Sigma? I wish it wasn't twice as heavy as the Tamron, and almost twice the price. But I guess you get what you pay for. It seems to be a very nice lens, with more reach than the Tamron and stabilization.
