the only thing i would complain about is the absence of lock buttons, would replace it if sony refresh its own 70300 g2

How is the image quality compared to tamron 18-300, since that one has VC, which is usefull for unstabilzed bodies like 6400

The Tamron 18-300mm is an allrounder with a high quality. But at 300mm the 70-300 has a better sharpness. But the 18-300mm is more versatile I my pov.
