    I owned a Beavertail back in 2010 and it was amazing. Tons of trips fishing the flats in islamorada,FL.

    1 question……
    Where is the Garmin?
    No Graph or electronics?

      Hey Fishinmagician31, thanks for the comment! I have added a Hummingbird Helix 5 since purchasing the boat. Wasn't sure what I wanted when I made the purchase. Probably should have gone for, at least the Helix 7, (5 is kinda small.) But, I don't really use the fish finder, just the charts, and water depth. I mostly stay on the move, trolling, and sight fishing. I may eventually upgrade though...

      @@knockdowncity8976,
      I have been looking for a new Boat for my son ( he lives in Islamorada, and 1st mate’s on a Viking). He knows that the REAL money to be made is guiding in the Backcountry, and he has spent the last year exploring the backcountry.
      I thought the Beavertail Micro would be an excellent gift for him in ‘23.
      1 last question….
      Top speed?

    • @knockdowncity8976
      @knockdowncity8976  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Fishinmagician31 That would be a nice gift! The one thing I'll say about the Micro, however is, I wouldn't try to fish with more than two people. It's a small boat, pretty tight. Other than that, it performs very well. Gets in some real skinny water spots too! The fastest I've had mine is just over 28 mph. I think, like .4 or .6, on a calm day, out by myself...

      @@knockdowncity8976,
      Thanks for the advice!
      Duly noted.
      Perhaps the Mosquito?
      Laid out like yours, I would think 37,500.00 for a “lightly loved” 2020 model??
      Perhaps that would be the better option in terms him fishing 2 guys and himself.
      Lastly, your boat is Stunning in its looks/layout.
      There’s something to said for having the ability to go where 98% of boats can’t.

      @knockdowncity8976  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey @travelnguy2002, Total length from the back of the motor to the very front of the trailer hitch receiver is a little over 22'. The trailer has a collapsable tongue, and I store the boat/trailer in the garage at an angle. I can get in and out of the garage easily. But, it eats up a lot of usable space. Also, I have work benches, cabinets, two bicycles, and a kayak in the garage. I guess I should have measured my garage before answering LOL Maybe I'll do a short video about this. I'll let you know...

    🌴 well it’s been four years since you posted your video on the micro beaver tail , have you still got it and if so what’s your thoughts on it now you’ve had it for a while , for me I’d love to have one but the price today in 2023 is just crazy expensive, so I’m on plan B build my own from an existing hull , since I usually fly fish alone it’s going to be just fine , I’m making my own nano skiff from a 1965 Cacci Craft 11’ ft Fiberglass V-Hull three seat fishing boat , I’ll be gutting it and adding a floor, front and aft decks , I’ll stand on a cooler that can be moved forward or aft , it will be tiller drive with a 1977 Johnson 15 horse redone , ( boat , motor , and trailer cost $450 bucks ) with repairs to the three and all the glass work I’ll have about $1400 into it , this will get me on the water , but as for the micro beaver tail - I love the looks and function of the boat , I want one! I love the side console and the rest of the boat , I think the only thing I don’t like is the bait well under the seat , it would be inconvenient to get to, the only other thing would be the connection of the forward casting platform attachment, the eyelet sticking up if you remove the platform would be a toe stubber , I like the self draining forward hatch idea , might have to use that idea on my build , 🤔 👍🏼👊🏼

      Hey @davescheer5038 Yessir! I do still have my Beavertail. And, still loving it! I've been wanting to do a follow-up video after owning it for a few years to show what I like, what I love, and what I would do different. I just haven't done a lot of videos the last couple years. Many reasons for that. None of which are very important LOL Maybe I'll get a chance to do that video soon. Anyway, that's really cool that you're building a project skiff. Deathstroke 0331, Thank you! I can tell you 100% the Micro is not made for taking more than two people out for a day of fishing. Maybe two adults and a kid, but even then, it's going to be tight. Absolutely ideal for one or two people. Drafts way skinny, easy to poll with two people, performs great! Yesterday, I went out alone, and actually reached the fastest speed so far: 28.4 mph. My average top speed is probably 25 mph @ 5500 rpm's. Maybe a little less than that with two people on board.

    • @knockdowncity8976
      @knockdowncity8976  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Joe, that's a great question! I'm going to do a video soon, after one year of owning my boat, and I hadn't even thought about that!! I will definitely cover this in my video, for every one else. BUT, since you asked; I do not find them to be redundant at all. I mostly sight fish in Central Florida on the flats, in 2-3 ft. of water. I usually troll to a spot I want to fish, and if I want to stop and fish a spot, I kill the trolling motor and use the Power Pole. If I happen to be trolling, or idling, in deeper water and decide I want to stop and fish, I use the spot lock. I don't even have an anchor on my boat! Probably should get one lol! Also, there are times when I'm polling in water too skinny for my trolling motor, I just push pole up to where I want to be, drop the Power Pole, and fish. Hope this helps. Thanks for checking out the vid! I'll have the one year review video out soon! Tight lines

      Hey Michael! I had this discussion with Jason Parisi, (see comments below.) He asked if the boat is "tippy', I said, not really, blah blah blah, he did a water test and said, "yeah, it's tippy". lol I must say, I have to concede to Mr. Parisi. The Micro is a small boat. Very low profile in the water. When I have another person on the boat, I really notice the boat rocking when someone moves around. When I'm alone, I don't notice it at all. I've surfed my entire adolescent and adult life. And, have been fishing out of a kayak, standing up, for many years. I bounce around that thing like a monkey when I'm by myself. The boat handles light chop surprisingly well. Anything moderate to heavy, you start getting wet. She just sits so low in the water, it's going to happen. Having said that, I've had her out in choppier conditions than I really wanted to be in, took some water over the bow, got pretty wet. But, she plowed through like a champ! When it's glassy, she's sick! Easy to pole, rides nice, dreamy! I have a six cylinder Toyota Tacoma 4X4 now. But, when I purchased the boat I had a 2008 Ford Ranger 4 cyl. 2WD, absolutely no problems pulling the Micro! Sorry for the long winded response. Hope I've helped you out!

    The backrest not being fold up is tough to live with. Access to that rear compartment is severely hindered. On a boat that only has two compartments, that is a huge con. I really hate the deck channels leading aft from the forward compartment. I know why there are there. I get it. But BT could have done something a lot better to accomplish that goal. I would be stepping on those all the time smashing toes, twisting ankles, and whatnot. Its a terrible design choice, and it would keep me off the front deck. Hard to imagine spending $25k-$30k on a flats skiff and not have the option for a second (second and third in a few cases) live/release/cooler well for this size class. Its a beautiful boat you got. Dont get me wrong. It looks great and you have set it up the best it can be set up.

      @knockdowncity8976  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      free88 Thanks for the comment. You're right about the non-folding back rest. I plan on talking about that in a follow-up video. It is very cumbersome getting gear in and out of the rear compartment with this option. I keep everything I need in small plastic totes but, I still have to put them in and out from the side. BT has a folding back rest but, at my age, the step up to the polling platform is a trade off I'm willing to live with LOL I am, however, dreading the day when I have to get in that compartment to do any work! Also, interesting observation about the deck channels. They haven't hindered or bothered me in any way but, looking at other boat designs, I definitely see your point. Thanks again for your comments. I really do appreciate all thoughts points of view when it comes to design, functionality, etc.

Some people will never replace a livewell pump, or bilge pump, etc., down in the bilge area, so its not a con to them to have such difficult access. That's the mechanics problem, not theirs. I only fish salt inshore, and almost exclusively in SWFL. Last boat was a 21 foot bay boat, but got over it. Comfortable, but spooks the fish too much. Fishing now out of a Gheenoe, which is a redfish and snook catching machine. But the comfort features are not there, and its not the most stable and safe boat when you got twin and triple outboard CC's blazing by you. Looking to get in the 16ft/6ft/50-60HP class.

      @@KungPowEnterFist Yea, I fish inshore salt water only as well. Here in central East Fl. If you've seen any of my other videos, you know I kayaked for several years. Challenging, and a lot of fun. But, it was time for me to step up my game. And, I definitely know what you mean when it comes to boats swamping you! A Geenoe can be a great boat. They're actually made in the town I live in, Titusville. I know Sam Gheen personally! Good luck in your search for a flats boat. Like me, it sounds like you do your homework and research before making a purchase. Let me know what you decide on!

      Thanks for the view/comment CJ! Yeah, minimalistic, but still has some bells and whistles :D

    What are you promoting a boat company or a Beavertail? Boring!
