Astros where the best looking mini vans, they had big van styling which is way better than a door wedge look.

I’m the guy who told you about my adventure to California from Florida. I have the same dash problem. Window is regulator mine goes only half way. ABS is probably front bearing. ABS & Brake light is power steering pump. Check the front suspension also. Air on mine is out also, a/c pump. The motor will last forever if you take care of it. Good luck. Great little van… As long as the miles aren’t astronomically high, those are very popular with painters, plumbers, home repair types. You wouldn’t even have to find seats to sell it to one of those guys. Cosmetically it looks very good on the outside, don’t see any rust or bubbling paint. I would definitely buy new headlights because those always improve the look of any used car.
The Dutch doors are the ones to have. Solid running vans that are usually beat up cosmetically before the mechanics wear out. My friend has a ‘97 that has been relatively trouble free but did have to swap the fuel pump.
These do GREAT as band vans, as you can remove a seat to fit gear. I’ll bet you can find a replacement dash for cheap, too.
The Monte Carlo SS did not come supercharged by default. The model w/ a supercharger was called the "Supercharged SS". So you can have a plain jane SS with just the 3800 naturally aspirated. That engine is nearly bulletproof BTW so if the price were good on that SS it would have made a great car to flip for a 1st car buyer. A little bit of sportiness for cheap. I owned a brand new 2002 SS with the 3800 and it was a great vehicle. Hell even my tough to please mother loved that car haha!
Also the Expy transmission is about $1700 so again if the price is right and assuming the tranny HAS to be replaced you can flip those for a decent price.

There is a thing like turo to rent RVs. Do a simple RV boondocker conversion and rent it out. The dipstick is not broken, it works like a locking lever. You flip it before you pull it out and then after you put it in.
The gasket is swollen and it is jammed. It's broken.

2 yrs ago i bought my 96 Yukon at an impound auction for $400.Bad hail damage but who looks at the roof of a Yukon.Bought another hood for $50 and had it painted. Spent $150 on a new steering box & pitman arm & oil filter housing. Truck has 212k on it, and i have driven the crap out of this thing. Just got back from a 500 mile trip,ran like a champ. You can find a good vehicle to actually keep at these auctions if you know what to look for.

Sweet! I got a gmc Safari van that was just like that but had 90k on it over a year ago. I won it for $550. it was mint inside and only needed the rear bumper. I sold it for $3600 the day after I listed it
i love my Astro, its a 98 sits 8 runs like a dream passes all smog inspections like a new car and has 209k on it and all fluids are kept up
The van without the seats would be perfect to haul dirt bikes/ motorcycles quick and easy, you could use the holes in the floor that were originally used for the seats as places to strap up the bikes.

$2k sounds right. Can probably get close to that w/o the seats. If the seats are gonna cost a lot, sell it as a work van. It's old and cheap enough now so that it makes a good cheap work van that someone can even park in a deed restricted community over night. Or some young hipster can live in it. LOL
Good afternoon. Expedition is a good truck. Do the cam phasers, & timing components you a solid truck. Ford makes good transmissions in those vehicles. The astro van all done depending on the year can command $2500-3000. That's what they sell for over where I am and they sell quick. Loved the walk through as well. Enjoy the day

You'll make a decent profit off of that Astro. They are great vans. It's always the little stuff with gms. Window regulators, interior pieces, ect.

That Monte Carlo was a real ss not just an appearance package back in the day when the Monte Carlo moved over from the n body platform based off the lumina to the w body platform and was based on the impala gm made an ss that ran the l36 which was naturally aspirated but the base had a 42 tooth sun gear resulting in a 2.86 final drive or could be optioned with a 38 tooth which made a 3.05 final drive but the SS has a 34 tooth/3.29. Not at all an impressive final drive but it was what set it apart from the base model power train wise
I think if your in need of some cars and the auction isn't going to be for a while Craigslist is the best way to go

It’s a legitimate SS...
We have a fleet of these at my work in the cargo variation. The transactions are a weak point with these. Most of them in the fleet had transmissions rebuilt at around 100,000mi. But that 4.3 is surprisingly snappy in those vans!
All I have to say is either you're very lucky or your copart is better than mine here in WV. There is nothing even remotely this flipable on the lot. Everything is really rough. By they way, $2,500 is a good price for this one with the seats, AC and window fixed. Great job. PS. It's most likes the window switch that is the issue. Those things always bite the dust. On the plus side, they're cheap on eBay.
I count my blessings for sure. The switch was replaced in 2016. It's the first part I pulled. It has the date stamped into it. :)
My power windows driver side still works but when I push the button to roll it down the switch stays down. I can easily pop it back up after I roll it down. Any idea? Hyundai. There’s no spring in the button it seems.
Transporting a vehicle that you just bought straight home, isn’t illegal. If you were driving around, yes. But you can drive it home if you have a bill of sale.
Man those astrovans go for a long time I went to school with a kid who’s family was big I mean like 8 and he use to drive it to school I asked him how he kept it running so good and how he told me he had over 400 thousand miles on it the. Engine was rebuilt 3 times and it ran great you made a good choice bud.
These are nice and hard to find if it’s not junk. Rear drive. On a frame. Tough ole work vans
Always liked the Astro vans. Not a fan of the 3 piece rear door; lot of sealing problems. Looks nice and relatively rust free. Should sell fast.
Polish it up. Bone yard a dash bezel and get what's needed for the door window fix while there. Check out AC and do fluids. You should do good on this one.
Hey first off I’m hooked on your copart videos. Been wanting to buy one myself. However on this video you stated the van was a pure sale no reserve. Does that mean it holds a salvage title ? I live in ny and registering and titling a salvage car is a process. Thanks in advance looking forward to watching more videos
$2k sounds realistic for it, depends on local / region of market of course - and that thing looks quite clean and decent and that 4.3 purrs. A very fair score there! Window switches are flaky on GM's - and if not that then either the window regulator or something to that effect. I get the same B.S. with my '95 Buick Roadmaster on the DS power window - last time it was the switch , time before regulator.
That Monte Carlo SS is technically a real SS, few models in the beginning of that year W-body came with N/A motors then they later supercharged them.
That monte Carlo is an SS not all are supercharged. And that 3.8L will go 300,000 miles if properly maintained. The biggest issue with those was the body control module.
Score! Get the AC and window working. Don't put seats in it. A courier will want it as a cargo van. $2500 is perfect.

That Monte Carlo is a true SS. They didn't start supercharging the 3800s in them till 2004.
Any vehicle that will pass an inspection is worth $2,500. ... Cheap work van. Vortec 4.3 v6 a good Drivetrain & cheap to fix ... Monte Carlo cheap commuter car ... 3800 draintrain is very reliable & comes in alot of different GM vehicles ... Firebird hood probably had to be pushed down a little to release the hood bracket.
I love my prius. I found a rebuilt battery pack with a two year warranty for $400 near where I live after having to keep my scan tool plugged in to erase codes while I was driving. Lol

Vans have spiked up in price 2,500 is fair. Clean work vans are upwards of 10k and clean conversions are north of 14k. Check eBay completed if you doubt it.

First Astro Vans have kinda a cult following, because they are a true body on frame “truck” van. The 4.3 is a good motor (it’s a 350 with two Cylinders chopped off the back), and over all the Drive lines are known to take a beating. I would ask $2900 for it as it sits l, IF you can find seats bump it to $3500
Buying desperate is a bad way to buy, you got lucky and will absolutely make money. However in another post I had suggested holding off on selling at least the other Prius until you won the new car even if you had to pay for it on a CC and then pay yourself back. I get not wanting to float money as it can be dangerous but doing it smart (which you are) and disciplined, you will be fine. Just something to think about for the future so you don’t get into desperation mode.
The ones I looked at are unibody with a drop out front subframe.

Hello sir fine post. I rented one of those vans back in news years 1999-2000 , it was very comfortable with 3 rows of seats, not good on gas tho
Love those damn Astro vans only problem is the driver and the passenger doors are notorious for falling off because the hinges are terrible but besides that it’s a fantastic van

Just so you know, the Monte Carlo that you passed up is a limited signed and numbered Pace Car. they only made somewhere about 600 of that model...I had the same car in red. They only did the embroidered head-rest checkerboard sticker and "Taz" in that pace car model. I was told that the original design was created by Dale Earnhardt on a red car(which is the one I owned). They are not cheap. you really passed up a great car. Wish I could have told you that when you were there.
The Astros looks like it could have been a fleet van at one time. Easy sell double your money. Fix the bugs. Someone needs it for as work van. Magnetic stickers with company name. It's one of the best ones with suburban type doors in rear

don't replace the transmission dipstick. anyone that knows GMs will tell you if they haven't been pulled out in a while will tell you they all stick like that, a new stick will do the same, all you have to do is unlock the handle and twist them a little as you pull them out

Before u charge up your ac put an air compressor to it to check for leaks in the ac system. You will get a big fine if you get fought releasing that stuff into the atmosphere.

for your astro van window there is lickely a broken wire between the door and the jam, if it was me I would pull the door panel unwire the door pull the wires into the jam pull the boot off and check the wires. this old that many miles it is a good possibility in my opinion I have seen this a lot. good luck .
seems to be a very nice van for the price, doesn't seem to have many issues on the exterior. Over all its a really nice van for its age.
Those metal keys are spare copy keys the regular astro van key will be black plastic that says gm on it u can get them with remote entry

I spent months looking for an Astro van. I ewanted it for a wheelchair van for the wife, and now me.I ended up buying a Nissan NV 200. It works well but I'm a Chevy guy.
The Chevy Astro is a good buy those vans are workhorses. Randy ,maybe put together a bigger budget and get the late model Equinox or Terrain like those near the astro.my experience with auctions is there are less bidders on the high number cars

No inspection in Oklahoma. Just tag and title it like any other car. Rebuilt same day.
No inspection here in Arkansas either not anymore they cut that out many years ago here everything that go's in Oklahoma is the same procedure here in Arkansas
In Oklahoma, if the vehicle is over 10 yrs old, it can be turned to a rebuilt title same day without inspection, but if its within 10 yrs old, they require an inspection. The tag agent is able to verify its been "rebuilt." If you "know" a tag agent or deal with one all the time, they are likely to just put down it was inspected just going off your word it's been rebuilt. It usually takes about 2-3 days to get the title in the mail in Oklahoma.

Usually when cars sit for months the coolant dries up so if you come up to one empty it could have evaporated because of the heat that any of the cars sit in

TFD ! who ever told me that, needs to be punched in the face for that. Coolant does not just dry up. I have bought cars sitting for 20 years with the Coolant still in them. it doesn't just dry up

I think keeping the configuration as is and selling as a work van is the way to go. Probably a bad switch on the window. With the window and AC working, I think a contractor would jump on it. List at $5,000
2200$ is reasonable if you get the AC running along with the passenger seats. Good buy I’d say UberMan!
You have to pull that that up one time when you when you pop the hood you have to do it two times
My Prius has been doing similar shenanigans with the battery charge indicator jumping around. No triangle of death yet but I'm not optimistic...

A/C is fixed front and rear.
Those 3800s are bullet proof. Say what you want about gm but their engines are usually pretty solid.
Unless it's a 2.8L, 3100, 3400, or 3500V6 lol (lower plenum gasket and / or head gaskets). Oh, and don't forget the old 2.2L with it's warped head design. The 3.8 was flawed by the FPR that causes the motor to literally explode. Otherwise great motors I agree. I love GM. Always have.
Uber Man I believe that's a 4.3 isn't it I don't think they put a 3800 in an astro
The 3.5 and 3.9 don't have the LIM gasket issues. The transmissions in the 3400 s lose 2-3 shift band (4t40/45) the supercharged 3.8's also blow transmissions. But yeah overall gm front drive cars are craptastic. The ecotech is one of the few bright spots.

NO they do not put 3800s in those Astro Vans or Safari Vans either the 4.3 or 4300 was the only Engine they put in those Vans they even put them in Fullsize Vans & Pickup Trucks Uber knows that though he had that Dark Blue Chevrolet Truck with the 4.3 in it
