A nother quick tip: Most of the clarity sitts at about 6000 Hz. And be careful of boosting the "bass". It can get boomy very quick and either distort the audio, or incase you put a limiter on to the master, it can make the perceived loudness (LU) very low. Btw, always check your audio with an Liudness Unit (LU) meter. For TH-cam, the loudness should sitt at about -14LUFS.
Good point! I see a lot of live scenarios where the voices are way too boomy. For cheaper mics, I normally see a lot of mids and not much bass though. As for loudness, a good rule of thumb without getting technical is to listen to a song you like on your computer and then match the relative volume of your audio to that. Thanks for the input Patrick!
Hey JACOB! back on your channel to ask you for some more tips! I ordered the Movo and have been using my Canon t3i as well as my newly acquired go pro hero 8. I am IN LOVE with the go pro. My latest 3 videos have been using the go pro and the canon combined, can you let me know what you think? i trust and value your opinion. AND THANKYOU for these tips!
Hey Carlo! Dangg yes your newest videos are looking great!! The anti-shake from the GoPro makes it really nice to just wear as you're filming. The audio does sound good too! I bet you'll like the movo when it comes in, especially for voice overs! Careful though, using the movo directly plugged into the t3i sometimes gives not as good audio. For the best audio, I try to plug in to my phone or my audio recorder since the t3i's audio preamp is older and not as nice as my audio recorder or phone. Good stuff Carlo!!
Definitely! I may have a video on this soon, but it would require some more research on my part. I use the Movo vxr-10, and it has been great! Very cheap and easy to use! There is a link in the description!
Personally no, but I'd recommend trying a bunch of different gain settings. Make sure the tascam is on manual input level, and mess with going maybe high output gain on the mic and low input level on the tascam, and vise versa (low output gain on the mic, maybe the -20db setting, with the tascam at a higher gain to compensate). Ive had a few hissing issues when it was on automatic level control but thats about it
Hope these tips help!! Anyone have any more quick tips that you have found helpful??

P.S i was SO surprised by the audio quality from the hero 8 alone. it seems like a good investment so far.

Jacob Brown but my sony a6000 doesn’t have input jack. Do i need external recorder? Tascam would be fine?
Did you get any hiss with the Tascam? I find it hisses with the Rode videomic NTG. Did you use any particular settings?
