  • Fabiana Bacchini, Executive Director of the Canadian Premature Babies Foundation talked with Juliëtte Kamphuis - Coordinator of Clinical Trials at the Erasmus University Medical Center - talking about her experience and challenges as an adult who was born preterm in 1980.

    Juliëtte Kamphuis has an educational background in biochemistry/biotechnology. She is a Coordinator of Clinical Trials at the Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam, the Netherlands) and self-employed as Strategic Consultant. Born in 1980 very preterm with 28.5 weeks and diagnosed with chronic lung disease bronchopulmonary dysplasia. She raises awareness for respiratory diseases and premature birth. Since 2009 she supports the patient voice in many research projects, healthcare-related initiatives and patient participation policies. She collaborates with national, European or worldwide organisations. Previously a patient advisory board member of 2 large-scale European clinical research studies U-BIOPRED and PROactive, and a scientific advisory board member of Lung Foundation Netherlands. She was also involved in the ERS Task Force “Guidelines on Long-term management of bronchopulmonary dysplasia”. Currently she is a member of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group-IPCRG multinational team Asthma Right Care, a Chair Committee member of the European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants-EFCNI initiative GLANCE - Global Alliance for Newborn Care, and Ambassador of the Mother and Child Center of the Sophia Children’s hospital of Erasmus University Medical Center
