    Brilliant interview! It's a shame these videos don't get more views considering how much goes into them. Travel, editing, translations, planning ect. This deserves ten times the views but I understand it's a very niche topic. Plus it tests our tiny brains by being 22 minutes, not 22 seconds like everything is these days.

      There is a limit cap at every body weight what you can *almost* lift. And if a person is lifting weights that no normal human should be able to at a particular body weight ( say someone squatting 300+ kg ATG at 90 kg body weight) he most certainly is not. And as the normal saying going... if the person is not looking natural...he/she is most likely is not.

      @@Demiamant "genetic freaks" is a catagory in humanity, and top athletes are top athletes for a reason. Freak genetics+hard work=top athlete. Not everyone that does grazy weight is on steroids. Say a powerlifter whos on gear has a max 1k lb backsquat. as a natty, hed still be able to get over an 800 backsquat at his peak, maybe even a lil more. Steroids arent a miracle drug that take a string bean dude 150lbs wet and make him into a 280lb lean monster who can all the sudden tripple his bodyweight in a squat. Youre generalizing humans to a very average catagory as if anyone whos 230lbs or above is automatically on roids, and as if there is no possible way that people are born gifted and every human fits within an exact perameter of what you think people "should be able" to lift. Thats not how things work.

      The desire to restrict someone to their culture instead of exploring every possible option to become better... It's very common in asian countries unfortunately due to the intense patriotic pride. It's also why people always keep their training and techniques secret instead of everyone helping each other.

People refused to share with me when I asked for advice in bodybuilding and general fitness etc. Even paid training sessions. Fortunately, I had opportunity to study oversea and join Crossfit. When I returned home, I switched to Oly lifts and trained on my own. Now it's somehow better as people share their techniques openly.

    It's better to just not bring up steroids. We know even if you thought he was juicing (which I'm sure you really do) you wouldn't accuse a japanese person of it as it's very much illegal and carries shame to be caught even more so than other athletes. Similar why Swedes living in Sweden wouldn't admit to it, as they evenn randomly test in gyms.

    • @GilBatesLovesyou
      @GilBatesLovesyou 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Unless someone can prove it otherwise with an actual law or statute, as far as I researched, albeit this was 10ish years ago, steroids were actually more legal in Japan than in USA. In that while they are/were prescription only, they were not "controlled substances" that would get you arrested like you would for heroin or meth or whatever, like they are in USA. I read foreigners accounts of being able to buy orals freely from Thailand/etc, but injectables the problem was getting a supply of clean needles, but not the drugs themselves.
      Japan also in the 1990s/early 2000s had untested MMA as a very popular thing, too. You can argue for the social stigma aspect of it with Japan, but I don't think there's any real legal argument to make, Japan overall has better civil liberties than Sweden right now, anyway. Even for the social stigma aspect, if you look at JADO sanctions, you'll find many sanctions for steroids or SARMs are shorter than USA, and NADOs aren't forced to publicize all names and results. I'm sure in Japan as well with Asian "face" culture and corruption you could make bad results go away. We hold Japan to a higher standard but I don't think ultimately Japan is any different than the rest of Asia in these aspects, they're just more polished.

      @@Micheldied People don't really get being friends nowadays. You help your friends out and don't spread rumors/accusations about them, even if deep down you might believe something is up. Especially in the case of something like steroids where you're not really concretely hurting anyone. I remember Vegan Gains made a video about Clarence Kennedy and said he was natty when he was in fact taking gear, when Vegan Gains was the king of natty or not BS, because they were both vegan and both became personal friends of each other.
      Also, since it seems like Toshiki had pretty garbage pharmacology for actually preventing injuries, really the only drug he could have taken nowadays is testosterone suspension, which is in and out of the system in a day or two. Some people take it just before their heavy days to get the extra strength drive and hype up, and since it's in and out it doesn't really shut you down like a long ester will.
      There's no way for me to know anything, but a lot of me suspends disbelief and actually think Asians just have better genetics in being able to handle lots of training volume. Even in other sports I've trained in, Asians excel and can handle a lot of volume of work. There's also the fact even historically, Japanese and Korean lifters did well, back to the 1940s and 1950s, before steroids were a big factor.

If not, I'm curious what else he could've done or said that would have either cleared him, or at least not raise any more suspicion.

      @@MrOrthodox13 Must have used them how? His physique isn't impossible for a genetically gifted natural by any means (I'd even argue his conditioning could have been better, given the shown footage), his increase in lean mass doesn't seem suspect (took 4 years to transition from 77 kilos to 85 kilos), and his totals in both weightlifting and powerlifting are respectable, but not record setting by any means.
      The sad truth is, genetics really makes THAT big of a difference. Most of us could take IFBB levels of juice and never look as good as him on stage, because we don't have the genetics for those insertion points and those muscle peaks. Similarly, most people could take enough gear to kill a rhino and still not lift like Toshiki because we don't have the genetics for his limb ratios or leverages. Besides, in Oly lifting technical perfection trumps raw power, which results in 70 kg men jerking more than the biggest strongmen can overhead press.
      Now, that's no guarantee he's NEVER used anything. Sure, he passed every PED test he's ever taken, but most screenings are more of an IQ test than a definitive proof of anything. At the end of the day, only Toshiki knows, and he's saying he *never* used steroids. He also comes from a culture where drug use is taboo, and from a country that hasn't suffered any state-sponsored doping controversies. So pardon me, but I think I'll take the word of the man who has lived it over the "probably"s from someone with no evidence.

    By Clarence's own fake natty standards (adding 10-15% weight the supposed "natty"'s totals, and checking if they are plausible), Toshiki's case is kinda plausible and kinda sus at the same time. Imagine someone who did 230 clean from blocks @ 89 kg bodyweight natty and then started using gear. He would manage to do 250-260 kg? That sounds kind of outlandish. At the same time, his snatch would go up to 175-187 and his C&J to 228-240.... which is arguably plausible, as that is the range of current world records for the 89 and 96 kg classes. He earns the benefit of the doubt, I guess.
