Today we will be taking a look at the FTX DR8 1/8 Desert Racer also known as the Reely Raptor and FS RACING ATOM!
This is a Cheap 6s ready desert racer packed with lots of nice features making it an extremely affordable package for anyone looking at getting into larger, more powerful RC cars!
Today we will be running it on 4s and 6s, seeing how fast it is and then having some fun in the mud and off road.
These aren't ideal for skatepark use and at this stage I don't intend to visit the skatepark with it but I may do this in a future video!

Wow the FTX DR8 is EPIC! What do you think? For the money I think its great and an excellent way for people to get into 6s at a much cheaper price than the more expensive models from Traxxas and Arrma!
Chz mate. I was one of the people who told I to get it. The bumber problem also happened to me on the second run. It’s a shame considering it’s otherwise so durable
I love the car BUT its expensive than I thought and it doesn't come with batteries for the car

This animal has been the best thing I ever bought in my entire life. I absolutly love it.
Love the dr8,changed all the hinge pin brackets on mine,fitted a 25kg servo,dumborc rx/tx,added a motor fan,fit a kraton 4s dusty motors blue chassis cover and changed the hubs for 23mm wider ones from Aliexpress,looks and drives even better now and still cheaper than any of my other 6s rc's
I recently purchased one of these and it is so much fun and little bit scary the first time it drove it on 6s. Absolutely love it. Like the channel mate I'll keep watching for DR8 content

Hi, Great to see this on you channel. I have just bought one too, yet to take it for a run due to the weather. It would be great if you could a series of videos on the upgrades, and also on how to check the diffs are built correctly (spacers etc) and also on changing / adding oils for this model specifically. As more and more people are buying this and would be good for newbies, as its an attractive model for us. Looking forward to more on this, thanks!!

Glad you done a review on this , it's my favourite car so far , only things I've broken is the same parts , even hitting a post at 40+mph

nice video, I've already got one but it's good to see positive reviews. It's basically buy the motor and ESC, get the chassis for free. That's how good the pricing is. I run mine on road tyres and it's got enough grip to wheelie and endo with ease 👍🍺🇬🇧

You're right here in Germany it available under Reely Raptor my Friend has one and I've driven it 1 month ago on 6s, and what should I say this thing rips tottaly worth every cent or penny 👌🏽😁

Even thought i've broken mine 5 times out of 6 times using it , i still say its amazing . People just need to stop asking how fast it is , coz it always ends in tears. Buy lots of spare suspension mounting kits too , mine seems to love going throught them , top and bottom

Hi Beyond RC DR8 I charged all my lipos 4s and 2x 3s did my 4s run it was brilliant. I did the 6s run and that was crazy did a forward flip by accident and landed it . Pure luck . The DR8 eventully came to a halt it was all a good experiance. I took out the 2 core rc 3s batteries and noticed one was slighly puffed up the other was fine contacted supplier they asked for resistance of cells and voltage of cells which i gave them. Bar that it was two great runs . Hope they sort the battery issue out 6s is crazy .

@beyondRC hi do you know any best way to get the pinion gear off or have I got to take out the hole motor mount and spar gear out to so I can get the pinion gear off. I was thinking of 18 to 19t what's your views bud let me know 👍😉

The adaptor is for running one 6s battery pack. With 2 3s they just plug straight in.
The maximum speed in the straight section is very stable. Do you have a gyro installed?

Looks fantastic! You say about it not having the clever avc from the more expensive brands. If you really do "need" it I'd just swap out to a DumboRc transmitter and your laughing

Told you the DR8 was good, cheap on parts as well. Lots of metal upgrade parts as well at great prices, the plastic hinge pin plate that you broke is the weakest part on the car. Most do break them, simple metal upgrade to fix.The DR8 is the best performing/value for money truck around bar none, puts some of the more expensive brand name trucks to shame for sure.

That’s looks absolutely awesome mate, it reminds me or our axial exo terra buggy, they are very stable aren’t they and that seemed the same. Definitely worth every Penney that one, FTX do make some very good mid priced rc models that’s for sure, As a brand I wouldn’t put them in the same league as traxxas or arrma for quite a few reasons but they are definitely in the top 5 brands I would recommend. For £400 that model is a great deal isn’t it, be interesting to see how the diffs hold up on this one. Is this going to be a keeper mate?

I can't remember what channel I see this on but they did say the only thing to change straight out the box is the hinge pin braces for the alloy ones . Even still ,that was a solid hit and not much would of taken that without something braking.
I shot the 43 rd pack today and it still ready to go... Not indestructible but man, it Can handle hard hits !!!
@@commanderstyle06100 I'm not knocking it at all the beating this thing took before the hinge pin broke was in the other vid was immense it took several nose dives into the floor from a fast jump to almost dead stop but they did also say others had broken hinge braces. I think it might of been rckiwis the guy was trying to flip it an all sorts and he kept nose diving it. It's definitely built to last .
Looks really nice, not in my price range but nice vid again Ricky. Wonder how it stacks with the Dbx-07 1/7 because that got some rave reviews from the Kiwi's for example and it looks, to me anyway, a little bit better aesthetically but thats my opinion :)
The dbx 07 is pure shit. This kiwi vidéo is an absolute bullshit, they just got it for free and that's all. Everything in the look, nothing in the parts. At least it is suitable for an expo on a shelf!! In réality it is always broken. All pieces are downsized. No comparison in terms of prices also with thé ftx. The dbx 07 is 700€ (badly équiped) and the FTX is 370€ and perfectly built for a normal Bash. Go for thé ftx, this thing is a must have. I swear!

@@commanderstyle06100 My bad on this Seb, i was looking at a roller price, not the kit...teach me to not look properly. Have you owned this or just from other forums etc ? , not that i'd spend that on Banggood for sure, just curious.
@@philhumber1534 O yes. I have it since the end of 2019. I juste broke a plastic part on a the rear side (the spare part was at home in 36 hours and cost around 5€, a pure joke). And it broke only because of me. It was entirely the pilote's fault: I tried a double backflip and landed on the ground with too much force and rotation....
Maintenance is a joke. I throw it the shower and rince it like hell. Then air pressure to prevent from rust. Done in 5min. I change the diff and shock oils once a year. To conclude I am still on the entire stock machine after the 49th battery pack this weekend.... I will never ever think about selling this beauty.

Wait what ? You sayd that its half the price of arrmas and tx. But its 500 euro. My typhon 6s was 590 euro so almost the same price.
Never really been impressed with FTX. My daughters have a couple of comets and a Carnage (brushed). Always felt their cheap price reflected their quality and they were ok for maybe kids or very basic entry level, but the DR8 is on another level. FTX really upped their game this time and like you say Rick, for the price it is a brilliant RC... Shame it still has the FTX weak point on the arms though. Added to my wish list 😁
This is excellent Adrian would highly recommend! If I knew how good this was before the typhon v5 6s I wouldn't have bothered with that and just settled for this!

No offense but arrma typhon 6s is about the same price if not cheaper here in the US ...my opinion would be to buy an arrma before ftx cause arrma has so many more options. So realistically arrma would be cheaper
Not for us in the UK. The Typhon 6s is currently £550 so about $680 :(

Eh this thing is just over $600cad and I just got a arrma senton 3s for $510 (tax included) off of Amazon not to mention it’s the same speed on 3s as this car on 6s but the car in this video Definitely will be cheaper to upgrade in the future for more speed.

I like your honesty and how you consider both sides of the argument. I agree with you. I have a typhon 3s which was much chaper than this and goes 50 mph or 3s wheras this needs 6s. However, I do understand that it is a much nicer vehicle and is more on the scale of the typhon 6s which is in fact more expensive than the ftx. I still want to buy one tho!!! 😈👍👍

It looks very similar to the DBX models by ZD racing but its not the same. Its sold as the FTX DR8 here in the UK and The Reely Raptor / FS Racing Atom elsewhere. Cheers

so that wasnt much of a wreck for it to break already! after a ton more upgrades wouldnt it be just as pricey!
Owners have mentioned in the comments that this is the first thing to break but the truck is generally a tank. Over the course of the next few months we will see if this is true! 👍
