Venables will take the Sooners to a level never seen before. He will make our great players even better. Jeff Lebby is an offensive juggernaut. His hire is the best since, yes, Mike Leach in 1999. He is probably a more effective offensive coordinator than the former QB coach Riley. If CW stays good for him and understanding the vision new culture that will be cultivated. If he leaves then OU will roll on without him.

After BV was hired and we made it known Jeff Lebby was his target for OC, 13’s social media accounts had the description of “QB for the Oklahoma Sooners” back in his profiles. Clearly Venables has the character qualities lacking in LR. Further, looking at the big picture, LR's coaching reputation was built on quarterbacks recruited by his predecessor (before Mayfield, Murray and Hurts, there was a Sam Bradford) and despite the caliber of those quarterbacks when given the opportunity, LR was never able to translate their (+) talent into a national championship....LR move to USC is OU's gain.

I like the new hires and think OU will be a tougher team on both sides of the ball. I like that he has more experience and is older than Lincoln Riley. I wondered if Coach Riley had lost control of setting boundaries when I heard current players calling him Linc. It is one think to be a players coach but another to become a player peer.

Honestly wish we had these coaches the last 2 years with the players we had. Our Defense would have been destroying the Big 12, and maybe rattler would have grown more and fulfilled his heisman potential. I am excited, but reality might be a harsh pill to swallow. Next year could be rough, or it could be smooth. My inner Sooner says we will rock all teams, but I am worried a bit that a whole new coaching staff might be rough on the players. I hope it impacts them all positively (Long term it will). But next year might be a rough one. It could be like Bob stoops first year. By 2023 we should be at minimum a big 12 champ, or in the sec championship game

Because HE IS!!! Look up Ole Miss offensive output and yards/points per game under Lebby. They compete or beat what TBOW’s offense did in 2020 and 2021. And Lebby and Ole Miss did that with nowhere NEAR the talent OU had on offense. So Lebby had better offensive schemes than Riley did with a bunch of 2 and 3 star players while TBOW had 4 and 5 star recruits who were outperformed by Ole Miss kids. People need a dose of reality. Jeff is not a better offense mind that Riley. He is not that guy, hence why there's not a bunch of schools chasing him down. I personally believe new coach will have a better defense, but that not going to matter in playoffs or certain teams in the sec. Clemson d allow over 500 yards during their loses in playoff games. What OU needs is competence at head coaches on the entire team not just offense which Riley lack. Don't be delusion that OU will not take a step back as they need players recruited for their system. Just look south of you at Texas. Better staff and lost games they should had won, but you see they lack players in recievers and don't have the qb to run their plays. Their recruiting addressing some of positions needed. Ou is a better position in qb, but their skill positions is needed. Just give this staff time to create. Set realistic goals.

Yes Riley had 3 QB's go into the NFL and are playing now, but all 3 of them came to OU after being at other schools. All 3 made Riley look good, their vision, mobility, and knowledge of the game, and their ability to change the play at the LOS. Rattler was Rileys first recruited QB who was bench this year. Before Mayfield and Murray OU had White and Bradford as Heisman QB's. Ou fans are not worried at all. As good as Williams is if his defense can't get the other teams offense off the field, he's on the bench.
