Hi Alex, enjoying your videos and a lot of them I am putting into my wishlist :). Like how you show your videos, and that you don't edit your falls and you show 100%. Nice job helping someone in need. Keep up the good work and nice videos.
Did this run 5 times over the last 7 days, I loved it. It was my first time skiing a proper black (as in not just 300m). I fell at exactly the same place you did too 😂
What I’ve noticed with the couple of boarders I ski with is that they boot out a lot when it gets steep. They get away with it when the snows softer as their heels/toes dig in and they can still get enough edge grip to stay upright. As soon as it gets hard and icy they’re on their backsides more than they’re upright and neither of them understood why until I pointed it out. If you’ve got big feet or a narrow board it may be worth looking into how much your feet overhang and maybe get a wider board 👍🏼
@@ShalomBrother Interesting point. Obviously it is much harder to balance and get an edge on ice. If it is solid ice the best thing is to not put your edge on it. It wont grip and you'll just fall over. As you get on a steep icey run you have to wisely pick where you can slow down.
Definitely on my list, especially with that stone arch in the beginning of the run. I think the gps speed is kinda inaccurate. It shows like 0mph at 0:17 while it looks like 25-30mph
@Alexskiing just went to other resorts. There's so many to choose from and vacation days are 25 a year and Ilike to use days in the summer as well to go paragliding. Tignes was great last January, unfortunately the black run was still closed and we had to take the blue/ red one down. Was able to do the Face this time. That one was being prepped for the WC when I was at the opening weekends. Looking forward to your video! Counting down for my holiday in January. Maurienne valley this time.
What makes a run black? I am still new but intermediate. I visited a ski resort where the blue was sooo damn steep, 5m wide track with exposed rocky cliff on the side, no catch nets. It was way out of my comfort zone but this one seems better as its not rocky, there are no cliffs. What makes a slope black and should I attempt it? Bit scared.
It definitely looks shallower than it is, I just skiied this run a few days ago in perfect conditions (nice soft snow), and still couldn't carve too much as it is quite steep. A good indication of how steep a piste is, Is how the person is skiing, if they are mostly skidding (to shed off speed as opposed to carving) you can tell it is rather steep. Carving on some parts of this slope would be suicide!
Poling uphill at 30mph must have arms of steel. And bollox its 10k long I clocked it at 2.95 miles last Thursday and that's from the chair so not technically even the start of the run.
the final km or two are the hardest.. only run in that area where i stopped in the middle to take a breather cause it was so steep :D also was really icy
10km? Where they get these numbers? The Sache itself is only 3km long, the whole run from top to bottom is 4.5km. You've done it in 6min, so if it was 10km, your average speed would be 100km/h, but we see only about 50km/h at best. But, anyway, good job, that's fast! ... 😀👍
You should look into getting a windslayer for your GoPro 9 to stop the wind noise. It helps till +-120kmh at least that's what I noticed when riding on my motorcycle.
A beautiful run. But why is this classified a black, i thought black slopes were much steeper. I did a black slope as a student many years ago and it was frightening. A steep face all the way down. Wanted to cry on the slope
I'm pretty sure La Sache is far shorter than 10 km. I did it a couple of times recently and it was showing up as about 4.5 km on my watch. You did it in under 6 minutes (including the top bit which technically isn't even La Sache, but let's ignore that detail) and would need to average over 100 km/h for it to be 10 km, which obviously wasn't the case. So why do so many websites list it at 10 km when it's demonstrably only about half that?
Hi Liam, you are correct, I do not know for this run, but I always go by what the ski resort's website says. It's the only reference I have, but I get what you are saying. I know in some resorts they like to measure the distance you cover skiing, which is obviously not fair as others use the direct route. Another factor can be history. I don’t think this applies to this run, but lots of runs used to be connected and longer in the 1960s when there was more snow.
@@Alexskiing taking the distance you travel is a good point. Obviously this would be hugely variable between people and so not a good metric to go by. My GPS should have tracked the actual distance I traveled, including turns but maybe I turned less than others. GPS also won't track small changes in direction and might average out a lot of distance into a straighter line. Still, 4.5km to 10km is a huge leap. Surprised this has not been picked up anywhere else for such a popular resort.
I get what you are saying it’s over estimated. If you think if ski resorts add a bit of km hear and there the resort suddenly looks bigger than a competitors on paper. Theres a guy called Laurent Vanat he looked into it in a report a few years back. I think most resorts over estimate.
Nice run, great views, thanks for the video. However, km/h and mph are fairly useless, it looks like they're showing stats from some other run. They totally don't correspond to your actual run. Your highest speed was clearly around 1:44 mark in the video, not 2:24. At 2:15 you are pushing up because it's uphill, and it's showing 50 km/h. Then you barely start moving, and it's showing 107 km/h? Please fix your speedometer/stats. This video title is very misleading.
Great vid , thanks, you are a good skier . I’m looking to sell my semi detached in york and buy a 2 bed apartment in Bourg st Maurice for my retirement. Tignes is only up the road . Life is short ,
Crash - edging the whole way not carving. Good job though - handled the bumps well. And this is hard pack (actually seems like re-freeze) - real ice is blue.
When we know that the speedometer indicates an incorrect speed, we do not take advantage of that to put in the title of the video "110 km/h" and thus deceive those who will watch the video!
Haha hi Ryan I have been skiing in different resorts over the past few weeks so I have a few videos to upload. I thought I would get the two falls out the way first so you forget about them before next season lol 😂
U sure it is 10km long? Cause vertical drop 1000m on 10km is definitely not a black slope… used to fo to Les Arcs where Aguile Rouge is about 8km and 2000 m drop and it is not a black slope. Just sayin… anyway nice skills to handle that icy surface! Hat off to u sir
Love how you can pole along at 50kmph 😂😉
That bc he wasn't going nearly 50
Speedometer is wacky
speedometer is incorrect
Fake as sh.t…
The speedometer is lagging behind a lot
NIce recovery after the fall, however your speedometer lags quite a bit
Hi Max I smooth out the data a bit which gives this effect the problem is if I don't you can get some random GPS readings.
nice to see your skill and good manners towards your fellow skiers. Also informative to see how you picked yourself up in the slide.
Hi Alex, enjoying your videos and a lot of them I am putting into my wishlist :).
Like how you show your videos, and that you don't edit your falls and you show 100%.

Great vid…nice one helping the fallen skier. Good man!
I like where he stops to deliver the ski but is still going 13mph😳

Hope you had a good time its an amazing resort!
I like the bit at the end of helping the crashed skier :-)
Thank You as I am disabled and no longer able to get out ! Great to see !
Holy steep! 😂 the moment you fell/sat down is just like damn! As a boarder, I can say this black run looks a little out of my comfort zone 😂
Hi Noah, the ice does seem a lot more difficult on a board. Unfortnalty that was definitely a fall.

Data synchronisation error. The speeds are wrong, unless you can skate at 70kph!
Yep. At 2:18 no way to have 65 km/h. He mostly hit 80.
Such a hero at 5:15 ;-)
One of my favourite runs. And one of the best videos showing the run to good effect - at speed.
Definitely on my list, especially with that stone arch in the beginning of the run.
I think the gps speed is kinda inaccurate. It shows like 0mph at 0:17 while it looks like 25-30mph
Sehr gute Kondition und ein beeindruckendes Video!
Mega stark 👍💪😎
Danke für den Kommentar wirklich zu schätzen
5:45 is where he’s actually going 110 km/h.
I like it when you got the guys ski good man
when you stop you still do 30 miles / hour , brilliant .
Nice touch picking up the ski for a fallen skier
Amazing run. It sounded super icy.
Thanks so much. Yes super super icy
😂 That looked challenging! But lot’s of fun! 👍
Yep especially on a day like that
Nicely done!
Looking into going to Tignes again this winter. Only went to the openings before, so this slope wasn't open. Really want to do this slope now!
I am going to post a video tomorrow about the opening this year. How come you only got it he opening?

Worked in Breviere (where the run ends) for a few years back in the 80’s. Happy days : )
I broke my leg just watching this.
Haha
An absolute beauty

Great video. I’m going Brevieres in Feb and am looking forward to this run! Is it better conditions in the morning or afternoon?
Afternoon for sure it can be Icy in the morning. Good luck!

100 km/h not even close🤣🤣🤣
From 2:20 where is 100km\h? 😁
But your condition is good, gratulation! 😉
Неплохая скорость ! 👍
Very icy! I'm sure that's why you slipped there....Nice to help out the fallen skier!
Wow, this run requires constant attention and quick reactions.

Wow great video! I really need to up my game!
whats the app called you use to track all the stats?
GoPro hero 10 and telemetry overlay
This is marked Tres Difficile because of the icy service road at the end?
Well played Sir. Beer earned. 🙂

Thanks for the advice I will take a look!
Nooo the sound of the wind is awesome!
@ 2:26 speed jumps to > 100 kmh for no good reason, not sure if speedo is calibrated....
I shit myself looking at that. Great job sir 👏
Haha thanks for the comment
Snow was icy. Nice control.
Nice run! fyi, it Seems like the speedometer is trailing behind by 40ish seconds.
Yes, you are right
Poling along at 90 kmh? The speedometer is fake, allright... great run though!
Bro you need to get the speedo recalibrated! Its about 15mph over
Jesus I would have been out of control a lot of times, what an iceplate
The person you helped looks a bit like my uncle
what are the skies?
:)

Our youngest son cried on this run. but at age 6 it was the longest hardest run he'd done !
Well done ⛷️👍🏻
Thanks

So excited to be here next Month 😊. It sounds quite icy, however luckily the forecast shows snow over the next two weekends
Have you ever bumped into anyone? Ever broke a leg?
What is the app for speed?
Gopro hero 10
Nice!
Which app or equipment You recorded this stats? Speed, attitude etc...?
Watch your speed from 03:00. - 04:00, WTF man??? It's not wright! What are you using, some mobile app or what? When you slow down, speed stays....
5:28 Kind of rude not to give you a "thank you" for bringing down his ski!
He says 'merci' which is French for thank you
Just as I remember it!
Éguille percer raille 😭🔥🔥🔥
it's so hard to get back up from this run
So true

What camera do you use to film? Gonna need one soon 😂
Edit: also how were you able to show your speed that's really cool!

Whats the point of having a speedometer if its gonna be that much off. There was a point you stood still but speedometer was like 45km/h

balance is important than speed.
only use one leg.

110km/h... Not really! You're chilling when the speedometer indicates 110km/h. However, this looks very cool to ski!
Speed display is wrong.
Hi wicker man, I have looked at the data and it looks pretty good after the start.
Speed is not correct. Distance is not correct. Last part you took was red. You avoided the black part with buccless. I did it last friday
Last part was not black but red
