I'm 53 years old, watched boxing my whole life. I'm Puerto Rican! Never in my whole entire life have I've seen a better boxer than Julio Cesar Chavez! In my book, he is the Greatest fighter of all time. A Magnificent person inside and outside the ring!

I remember growing up watching the legend fight and we all thought to enjoy every fight this champion fought in the '80's cuz it could be his last due to his style. Fighters like him don't last long in this business. We all thought that the Rosario fight would be his peak and it was. He did drugs to cope and yes he had his problems but there will never be another julio cesar chavez. Many of my greatest childhood memories were of nights he fought and my family and I rejoiced and ate and drank and danced. R.I.P grandfather, and long live El Gran Campeon.
I never seen a more dominant champion in boxing than julio. strong, fast, solid chin, and definitely incredibly ring smart. he picked out the perfect timing to hit you and when to finish you. hes def apart of the top 10 greatest in my eyes

Nice Vid, I am a Filipino here in the Philippines and I like Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., we've always admired warriors who fight with their whole heart and dedicate it to their people, that's why Pacquiao is big here in our country; I think Mexican people loves their warriors and value courage, while we Filipinos always loved our feats of heroism and martyrdom specially if it's for our people.
I watched this and I cried this brings up my childhood Chavez was role model I watched Chavez for years I can remember Taylor fight and hector camachio fight greg haughen fight great memories
When Greg Haugen fought Chavez he had angered Chavez saying most of his fights were against Tiguan taxi drivers. Chavez gave him a sound beating and stopped him for the first time in his career. When they were both been interviewed after the fight, Haugen acknowledged how good Chavez was. Chavez told Haugen through an interpreter that he didn't fight taxi drivers. Haugen smiled back and said "Well they must have been tough taxi drivers ". Chavez laughed at his response knowing he had now won his respect.
Philip Mcgough in that fight born the myth that Chavez fought with sandbags, because of haguens big mouth. Many Americans still believe that he fought with bad fighters, but remember, fighters seek to fight with chavez, cause was the best, not chavez with fighters.
So glad Chavez didn’t become a statistic of drug addiction. He was able to defeat his most toughest opponent. Heavy cocaine use contributed to his first loss and naturally Chavez turned to cocaine after the loss to cope with it. Thank God for helping him find his way out of the darkness. I love hearing Chavez proudly talk about his recovery. Thank you champ for giving us many great moments.
