Oh, h*ll no. In public school in my district, 45 minutes without water is a dismissal.

With the water turned off, they should line the buckets with trash bags, to have a little bit of sanitation. 🤢 But only until they can arrange to transport the kids home.

They don’t actually use buckets😂 Are you kidding?! They would send the kids home! And you can flush a toilet without running water by dumping a bunch of water into the toilet🙄

      @@h.b16 Hi,
And where would the buckets of water come from to flush the toilets with? The water is turned off. No sink water either.
I've been at school with the water turned off, while they work on the plumbing. It was bad... But it was 1975, they weren't as concerned about our sanitation as the are now.

I didn't know that my degree in elementary education qualified me to be a professional nit picker, but here I am, killing it every other Friday. Deep down inside, I wanted to get a Chinese spider monkey and let him go around the classroom picking nits and eating them. The kids with lice would feel special because Spank (the monkey) would be hanging out with them all day and the kids without lice would be jealous and say stuff like, "That's not fair! Spank (the monkey) is always at Sarah's desk and I never get to play with him."
If you want something fun to show your class, find the "Quit Nits" lice shampoo commercials on TH-cam. You will not be disappointed

I am so glad that we didn't have too much of a problem with lice when my adorable snot stingers were younger. I even ticked off a few of the other parents by making sure the children's hair was kept "dirty". I only wash their hair once a week, rinsing it with warm water the rest of the week. After it was washed I would rub a small amount of baby oil, cocoa butter lotion or olive oil into their hair. Doing this makes it harder for the adult to attach the egg with the "glue" the adult produces.
The few times they did get lice the boys got the clippers and sister! She had to sit through a treatment of rubbing alcohol, me checking every strain of her hair. Then I would apply WARM olive oil and braid. Let her go run and play in the sun for about 30-45 minutes. One more check and she loved her hair afterwards.

I have never seen an IEP that provides an accomadation that allows a student to physically harm caregivers or classmates. Admin use that as an excuse bc all students have the right to an education, but IDEA enumerates some specific rites for soecial education students. Those rights run parallel to employees right to a safe work enviornment and other students right to a safe learning enviornment. They do not supercede them. It is the administrator and districts responsibility to find a solution that protects all of those rights. This can mean, alternative placement, homebound placement, additional safeguards or support staff in the classroom, or virtual online instruction just to name a few. These are all costly and a lot of work for admin and the district so they often make excuses, blame teacher's classroom managment, and dump them back on teachers with no support.

    Lice? I wish.
I just found a bedbug in the reading corner today. Pillows, beanbags, _students_ back there.
And in the lunch room, there was a kid next table over with pink eye.
    I love being a sub . . . I _do_ love being a sub . . .
