I like starting with Matthew as well to hear about the birth and life of Jesus. We need that background to be able to tell others about Jesus. Any of the 4 gospels is good to start with. I enjoy reading all of God's Word but I enjoy writing scripture because it helps me remember and understand, I guess I'm just visual like that. We also need to look at before and after some scriptures to get a better understanding what, when, where some people and things are going on. These are great tips Nicki thanks for this video. I have been reading the bible and was about to quit for the session and I sensed to keep reading. A few pages more and I hit what I needed to hear and take with me. I was surprised and pleased. I also listen to different sermons and try to read the whole book they pulled from to make sure I got their message.
I love the gospels. But when I was a new Christian I could not get enough of the epistles. I grew up in church and knew alot about our Lord, so when I found that the epistles and how practical they were in teaching us how to live what we believe, I just devoured them. Still do. 😁😘

Great point! I forgot to do that! First five books are the law, then Joshua through Esther are history. Job starts the poetry; Isaiah is the first of the prophets with Malachi being the last prophet book in OT. Then the four gospels (Matthew-John) the book of Acts is History. All of the end books are the letters, except “Revelation,” which means ‘an unveiling of the future’ and is referred to as apocalyptic. Hope that helped!! 🌸🌸🌸

You are very right, however if people don't understand who Jesus is, the Old testament may not make sense to them and they may not know where to find Him in the OT. Plus the Bible isn't in chronological order it's placed the way that it is based on literary genre.

I have found listening to an audio Bible helps me focus on what I’m reading , especially some of the OT books. Wonderfully encouraging video!
