Really appreciate Natalie’s explanations of the technical and practical considerations informing her many personal choices. She clearly did her research and put a lot of thought into this! I appreciated as well her transparency on her sliding site rate, which she clearly stated ranges “from $720 to as high as” $2.2K during summer. That works out to between $24 and $73 per day, the majority of it on the lower end. What matters is she’s run the calculations and concluded that for her it’s a fair price for what she gains in amenities and convenience. Based on our travels, quite reasonable for a well-maintained and run RV site!🙂 I was impressed in any case by her home’s smart HRV system and strategic use of under-floor heat ducts-they make so much sense! Same goes for the coat closet, hidden W&D and many other features of this very intentional build. I thought Natalie gave a really great tour of her lovely home! 👍❤️
It’s also possible that Natalie meant to say “campground” rather than “park.” I learned from experience that search terms “RV park” vs. “RV campground” turn up two different results. A search for “RV parks” generally turns up semi-permanent living sites with lower long-term lease rates, while a search for “RV campgrounds” tends to bring up temporary travel facilities with widely varying amenities, including anything from “A”-a roughly designated spot to park the rig and a public pit toilet, all the way to “Z”-a paved, level site with full hookups, a fire ring, a grill, plus an available laundry, bath house/restroom, playground, dog park, entertainment facilities, etc. So “RV campgrounds” that have term limits and lots of amenities DO tend to cost more per day than long-term RV parks. They also usually have seasonally varying rates.
A very nice tiny house. But her lot rent is outrageous. This lady should consider buying a piece of land to park her tiny house on, it would be more economical in the long run. And then she would own it, instead of basically giving all that money away with nothing to show for it.
Thanks for your comment! I agree with you - buying a piece of land would be much more economical. Unfortunately, parking on private land isn't legal in the county where I want to live. Hopefully it will be in the near future!
Nice tiny home! I especially like that tiny home owners get to design it to their specications. And smart of you to have a Canadian company build it for you because of the knowledge that comes with a company that headquarters in a cold climate so that you are well taken care of for insulation value.
Beautiful tiny home! I especially love the large bathroom with all the windows. I think this is the nicest bathroom I have seen in a tiny home. Great design!! Her tiny house is pretty well appointed. The bathroom is amazing. It's bigger than what I currently have in just over 600sqft. Your home is beautiful ❤❤i especially love your use of orange, my favourite colour. The only thing i would have done is to make it 10 ft wide instead of 8.
@@TinyOffGridHouseResearch To hopefully answer your question, I suspect this requirement is not unique to RVs. According to AI, “Vertical siding requires a J-channel every 10 feet primarily to accommodate the expansion and contraction of the siding material due to temperature fluctuations, essentially providing a space for the panels to move slightly without buckling or warping, and the J-channel neatly hides the cut edges of the siding panels where they meet, creating a clean finish along the wall.” I can easily imagine at highway wind speeds this becomes all the more important to prevent siding popping loose and creating a hazard.
Response directly from the builder: Vertical siding comes in 10’ heights. Your front wall is higher than 10 ‘. This was one way to add a detail and make sure that it stays on during transport and properly fastened. So perhaps not required by any agency or dept of transportation, but a typical addition to ensure nothing flies off the house while on the road. 👍
There is an emergency exit window in each loft, but yes I love the large window as another exit option. I also didn't fully enclose the loft in case I need to climb out over it and down onto the coat closet to get out. LOL!
