You probably won’t see this, but I have been so inspired by you and Ally. I am 55, widowed and was without a hearth. My kids bought a little farm, and it has a poll barn on it. Part of it was a store front from the previous owners. Unfinished. No windows. They said I could have it. I have electricity. But no running water, sewer. By myself I am slowly turning it into a place I can call home. Compost toilet, gravity fed water, it’s coming together. One day at a time, gardening, living life the way I want to live it. Keep going. This is life. The senses and the adventures, curve balls, struggles. It’s all good.
Suzette and I honeymooned in my Grandfather’s cabin for one week back inJune 1960. He had a Christmas tree farm with 269 acres of Christmas trees and PA had woods and Sugar Maples.. I knew every square foot of that property back them. After graduating in January 1960 in 4 feet of snow we moved to Orlando. In 1972 Grandfather decided to sell all of the property for $30,000. We had just bought a new home and committed all our savings, and could not buy it. However it did not sell and Grandfather decided to subdivide for his children to own. It had a beautiful old barn with handhewed huge Timbers that he agreed to give to two fellows from NY if they would remove they could have the barn wood….so many wonderful memories flash back as we enjoy your cabin experience together……Thanksgiving, Autumn leaves, countryside, small towns…life is Good. Enjoy everyday together with family and friends. We have….
You made me miss those times..by the time you married I wasn't very old..just a young girl born in 53...I remember living in this big old house, no water, no bathroom , our mattress were made of straw that they changed fresh every Autumn...I absolutely loved it..I remember every detail and the smell of everything..the clothes on the line..fresh warm milk from the cows...what a beautiful time to be alive...now it has so changed...but my memories are still there....
`Merry Christmas it’s about 8° in the area of the former cabin near Manns choice Pennsylvania. Last September the one room school house my grandfather taught grades one through eight in the early 1900s. The oldest student became my grandfather‘s bride as the years passed by. I have 8 x 10 photographs that he took of his class which included him and his sweetheart. They had seven children all born in the big house in Bedford Pennsylvania over the early years of the 1900s. my dad was the oldest. My brother recently found that the school has been updated and a first floor put underneath it to live in. It was for sale for about a half a year and then it was taken off the market . my brother said he would like to buy it however he was in Tucson at the time.
Stories aren’t made by things being perfect. We aren’t enchanted by the humdrum of someone buying a perfect life. We are drawn into the struggle. Drawn into the relationship of relative living and hard work. Passion.
OMG, it is like hearing my husband's and my story! We too built an A-frame cabin from scratch 38 years ago. Can't stay year round, still no septic, have electric & a well, but it is still our dream home. A place to escape and our passion for the woods and each other come alive all over again. Trust me, you will never regret your cabin in the woods. Side note: bought your A-frame hoodie last year for my husband and quickly stole it back. I love it! : )
your content is soothing. Every aspect is an asset: your vocal narration, music, camera work, landscape, the sound of guitar and ending with the cover. New England is a blessed place.
Omg cassettes! There was nothing like popping in a tape and driving around town with the windows down. Seeing your stack made me feel super nostalgic. I sooo miss a good mixed tape.
You should be at a million subs by now …because your videos are that awesome,it’s so relaxing and your own story telling is just wonderful I can’t explain it😊
The best time of year in my opinion. Friends and family, good food, just slowing down are all good for our soul. Life is a journey, it is all supposed to be about our experiences. So, take it all in! Scoop it up, smell it, reflect on it, and look for a road less travel. Then repeat! God Bless, we are all so fortunate for what we have....
The Little Red House and Hudson!🧡 I really appreciate the moments you stop and talk to us (and your future self). There is something about you looking at the camera that makes it feel like 'we' are in a conversation as two old friends. Great work on videos and cabin-both of you! Thankful for you channel 🍁
My wife and I have been enjoying your videos for the last 6 months so newer subscribers. We also have a rustic cabin with no electricity, heat by wood stove. We’ve just recently re-finished the inside finally after many years…..you hit the nail on the head when you said it’s “not a home…it’s an escape!” That really resonated! Looking forward to the journey.
you make the world a better place for all of us! Thank you thank you thank you!!! For the visions of your progress and plans- your positive appreciations spread positive vibrations like a ripple in water.

Remember when i found your channel because i watched your video called "how a cabin changed my life" years ago ...man, your cabin changed so much during that time ! So cool !!
Your Estwing reminds me of earlier days. I’m 60. I built a cabin in Dahlonega, Ga., the mountains, when I was a little older than you about 35. I started framing houses when I was 19 and for $40.00 the boss gave me a leather nail apron, a speed square, 25’ tape, pencil and a 22 oz. Estwing. Hard to believe but 41 years later that hammer is in my kitchen drawer along with an Estwing trim carpentry hammer from that timeframe. I have my initial “K” carved into it from way back when. I own a 4’ wooden level of dads and he’d carved the “K”, for Koehn, in it, too. I cherish them dearly. I hope you hold on to items like these as well. I’m thinking you’re 30ish?, thirty years from now you’ll hold that hammer with pride and fond memories. I believe.. but maybe it’s silly.. maybe not 😊 Love your work. Thank you for sharing
Really cool to hear! And yes I will be holding onto all my tools as long as I can. I look forward to looking back on them one day and remembering all they’ve done for me
Hey. The dew on the windows is basically one of two things. The air in the house is very humid (air saturated with water). It usually gets more humid as the temp drops, so completely normal for this time of year. The other reason is that the surface of the window is very cold. Also possible for this time of year, but less of an issue if your windows are double glazed. I live in a 1900 Victorian house in England and my windows are very foggy this time of year!
I could watch your videos all day, they are so awesome and relaxing. Thank you Kyle and Ally for your interesting video. Take care and stay safe ❤️ 🙏 👍
Hey Kyle thanks for that little verbal aside there explaining where you are and where you wanna go. Please remember to enjoy those around you. And for what it’s worth we have your back. Now pass the stuffing!
Kyle, you and Ally are doing an amazing job on the cabin. Glad you were able to find the Trooper. You both see the importance of Being around family. I really enjoy watching your videos, oh by the way that bread looked so delicious!
I'm so stoked that you scored a cassette of George Winston's December for the Trooper. Definitely my favorite holiday album of all time. (and yes, I named that tune in like 3 notes haha) 🤗
I just watched this video again - I so enjoy the cabin - a very special place. I love that you allowed the process of building it and you weren't in a rush to finish it. Buying the right property to make your home is very important. I enjoy guitar playing - fire making - progress on finishing the cabin and power center room finishing. I am left with a sigh of contentment. I am happy for you and Ally. I am dreaming of my future home and how wonderful it will be to buy the right place to start my journey. Dreaming is the power of truth moving in our lives. Don't ever stop dreaming Kyle - you are the dreamer of dreams and the builder of your happiness. Sending much love and kindness to you both, Lori
Simply beautiful….. so happy things are coming together for you both … watching your life through theses videos are just so inspiring and brings hope eternal x ❤️
Hey Kyle, just a heads-up on old blue overheating issue. My '79 F-150 kept overheating and I changed out all of the usual suspects with no results. An old-timer mechanic DX it as a bad radiator, he changed it out and the issue was resolved. Cheers!
Your voice is so calming, Good you cleaned the porch so you got a roof over you while you work , Love the Cabin and the yard around you, I would live there in a heart beat
I sit here and watch this, with the leaves blowing hard in the cold wind, the last of them from the trees, and it’s a beautiful thing🥰🤙🏼 Also it’s awesome that you clarified what’s going on with the cabin because I actually asked about that in one of your last videos so that’s cool to understand now🤙🏼
I miss the long cross country adventures that you have taken us on in the past . Awe but youth gives way to practicality and we all grow older. The youthful carefree journeys give way to new more mature content. Still see lingering glimpses of your wanderlust coming through. I so enjoy your content. Thanks for sharing this journey...after all it is yours.
I feel the appreciation for all life brings through your daily life, even in the day to day business. Peaceful gratitude for the season is beautiful! Peaceful channels for calming the mind.. plus plus!!!
I haven’t watched in a while, 1. I had Trooper , standard shift 2. I’m visiting the Berkshires for first time in a year and two months, taking the train from Chicago to Pittsfield.
you sure know how to make a guy homesick . was born and raised in carlisle mass my parents were native vermonters i somehow ende up in pa. and dont make it up north as much as i would like due to medical callenges but youre videos bring me peace in my heart and soul , thank you
So many great things in one video.. I've said this before, you are such an inspiration! Keep up the amazing work, I'm so happy to follow along! Also as a career auto mechanic with 15+ years experience.. I give the trooper 👍👍. What an awesome ride!
Thank you. I love your poetic voice… I love your way of repurposing wood… so grounding and good…and those cassettes is something else…omg… Ally’s family thanksgiving is awesome… the cabin is the process … who knows… why not leave it as an escape… how can you ever sell it. You built it. 😊
This is the season before lots of snow and after the leaves fall and you can see back into the woods a long way. Great walking weather. Stay warm, drive careful in the snow and ice! 💙🌙🌸❄️mar
I feel like it's my cabin. I'm really excited to see the finished cabin. You and Alley have such great balance and work hard, love and enjoy family and life together. Thanks for always bringing us along....
When you said you wanted a more economical vehicle it made me curious as to new or old. I was so surprised yon held to your history of older unique vehicles. To me they have a character all there own. Not cookie cutter but a style of there own. God bless you all
This video just made me feel so comforted being home . We just had a wood-burning stove installed waiting for the inspector to approve it , stacked two cords of wood by the basement door a few weeks ago tarped that and just adjusted Some rocks to hold the tarps down because a big wind is kicking up in the mountains and it’s starting to rain today. You are truly inspiring us to just enjoy the simple things , The comfort of home ,our beds , good food family friends , blue jeans boots and flannel shirts . I can’t wait to get this fire going in our mountain house. But watching you both work on your cabin made me realize all the things we need to do here and learning to fix everything doesn’t have to be overwhelming anymore . I feel more relaxed as I embark on something else that needs to be done . You took my anxiety away about living in the mountains . If I could only get my husband to sit down and take this all in . Your videos are going to help bring harmony back that we were so lacking . I’m serious when I tell you this video started my day with a positive mindset . I’m passing it along hoping my friends will subscribe and be as inspired as I am ,thank you!
Another great video, your cabin brings back memories going to my family Hunting Camp in Lycoming Co. Pa. Back as a kid in the 50s Had a hand pump on the back porch, but had a bad sulfur smell. there was a hand dug across the road on another property we could use . There was an outhouse back of the cabin, story goes My Grandmother and Great Aunt open the door to walk back to the cabin one night when they saw a large black bear between them and the cabin. Question was who was scared the most them or the bear. I got one of the Hot air fan for my gas heater and it really works, No electric just hot air runs it. . It blows the hot air across my living room.
Have you ever considered an incinerator toilet and a grey water system?- fairly uncomplicated to set up. Your cabin brings back so many memories of cabins I have stayed in as a young girl in Idaho and Washington States; and as a young mother of two boys here in California with Cabins in the Sierras. Enjoy your videos immensely🥰❣️💁🏻.
Your videos are so amazing! You ans Ally are so cute together! Autumn is my favorite time of year and right at the top of my bucket list is visiting New England in the fall.🍁🍁🍁
Hi from Greece! Great videos and video editing. With your videos our mind travels. I love your blue truck, it reminds me vintage/oldschool which im a huge fan. Keep the good work, i hope build your dream house. The song at the end playing quitar is great
I cant find the proper words to tell you just how much your video's are such a pleasure to watch but they are Informative, peaceful , heartwarming and a true pleasure to watch thank you very much I hope to see your movie out on a dvd for purchase soon let me know when that will be I would like to get it.
We have had three Troopers over the years. One had over three thousand miles and the other two over two hundred fifty thousand. The best cars we ever owned. Wish they still made them in the States.
Another wonderful video journal of you and Ally's life in your beautiful locations. Also noticed one of your vintage cassettes is George Winston, one of my favorite artists of the 80's Great piano tonal background music while driving and reading etc. Thanks so much for the outstanding aesthetic quality of the work you offer us on TH-cam
@@TroutandCoffee A little inside tip for vehicle care , Griots garage ceramic speed shine for the paint, and Mother's VLR for the interior/ dash, door panels etc. 👍👋
Always love your content! Makes me remember the vehicles I had that played cassette tapes. I have a ton of them that I would like to get rid of. Let me know if you are interested. I love seeing you doing more work at your cabin. Glad the door finally locks. 🧡
The cabin is beautiful. I love the color and setup. I have a feeling that even when it's done, there'll always be more you can do, like with any piece of music, writing, and art - but it seems like you're almost at the place to enjoy it. Keep up the good stories.
Your channel feels like a getaway... a journey. your videography and way of storytelling is from an age old era. Great work!

Lol, I need the feeder that was on that wall.Arlo Guthrie would sound good in the Trooper.
I'm so stoked that you scored a cassette of George Winston's December for the Trooper. Definitely my favorite holiday album of all time. (and yes, I named that tune in like 3 notes haha) 🤗
Looks like the American dream to me…hard work, nature, family and someone you love to share it all with. Blessed ❤

Hey Kyle, just a heads-up on old blue overheating issue. My '79 F-150 kept overheating and I changed out all of the usual suspects with no results. An old-timer mechanic DX it as a bad radiator, he changed it out and the issue was resolved. Cheers!
So Beautiful .This place is a beautiful place. It something that is hard to find. One day I will probably go .♥️♥️👍😍
This video felt so fulfilling, perfectly paced and touching on so many wonderful things ❤

Great call on the fluid film. Living in the Ontario salt belt annual fluid film or krown applications are a must to keep the rust away.

Good afternoon everybody from Argentina! 🇦🇷 Your STORIES , make the world a better place to live in . Thank you so much ! 🍁🚙
Thanks for sharing and glad Old Blue is running better
Me too! And thanks for tuning in!
The cabin is beautiful. I love the color and setup. I have a feeling that even when it's done, there'll always be more you can do, like with any piece of music, writing, and art - but it seems like you're almost at the place to enjoy it. Keep up the good stories.
PS - "Freedom comes when you give up control" - great line. My favorite song in your stories so far.
