@@Samperor I've always wondered why the WT has a difference name for tul :-D Originally, the term "hyung" was used which is basically a translation of kata (and at that point many Kwans were still practicing older Japanese forms). Between 1965 and 1972 Gen. Choi decided to use the term tul (틀) to describe the pattern set he had developed. While tul can be translated as "form" it's perhaps more accurate to translate it as "pattern" which Gen. Choi thought was a more accurate description of what was actually being done when one performs a tul. As far as I am aware tul has no hanja, only hangul, denoting it's a native Korean term not a borrowed Chinese or Japanese term.

That would be a fun way to connect the two characters narratively but I think the setting feel namco was going for is really more like Grappler Baki where it's a world of badasses in every crevice.

What I really loved about the Tekken franchise was the relatively realistic depiction of many styles (karate and otherwise), as well as the amount of high-level concepts of martial arts these games managed to capture just through their mechanics.
As just one example, whiff punishing in this game, where you suddenly back away from an attack to make your opponent miss before hitting them with your own attack in their recovery time, is really similar in nature to what you said about spacing in karate in one of your earlier videos. Glad to see these games getting some attention here!
On a lighter note, Mr. Enkamp, I could totally see you playing Lars if you played Tekken (Lars is also Swedish, and he uses a form of kempo).

The Hikite is indeed used in bunkai to pull your opponent, but it is usefull even without as it allows to avoid to get your Hara too much to the front when doing Oi Zuki or Kizami Zuki. In terms of physic, you generate a vector in the opposite direction of your punch which help your torso to stay in place :)
