  • In this video I just show you a friends aquaponic system. (Majority of the video was actually recorded sometime ago.) It is actually referred as a duckponic system, since ducks are incorporated into the system. It uses duck waste as well as fish waste to run the aquaponic system. This is a very unique and effective way to do aquaponics.

    A diagram of this would be awesome. Incredible work.

    the aquaponics system is good and integrated between plants, ducks and fish.

    Some farmers here build chicken coops on top of tilapia ponds where the fish feed on the chicken poop... not sure if that can be incorporated in an aquaponic system.

      Ya I have seen that as well. I was thinking of doing something similar on my aquaponic system using quails.
      I might experiment with a different setup using the chicken poop as fish feed, but we will see.

    Great looking system.
    What about using an airlift pump and a sieve filter to cut down on large particles in the beds. Looking forward to seeing the updates.

      A sieve filter will probably be added on the new system.

    what are you all using for the fish airstone diffusers?

    Pretty high quality mess! 😂 Thanks for sharing! Do the ducks eat the fish or wind up in the fishtank part of the system often?

      @vonponics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ducks don't have access to the fish section. But the fish can swim down the overflow pipe into the duck pond area. The ducks might try and eat the small fish, but not the bigger fish.

    Would it be possible to use ducks only and no fish?

    • @vonponics
      @vonponics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes ducks produce enough waste to run the system

    Hey, does this system has any risk of propagating e. coli?

    • @vonponics
      @vonponics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not entirely sure. There is probably a possibility that the system can.
      Duck poop can contain e-coli and other germs
