    Are you randomly digging holes in some Auckland park? I hope you covered those holes with thin sticks and a loose sprinkling of dirt after you were done.

    Rewatching the Makita earth auger test just shows how violently the makita just drills into everything.😅

    Late to the review, but so glad I bought the Makita. I decided to bite the bullet after that review and move over from the TTI stable into Makita products (Ryobi/AEG is what I had).
    Extremely happy that I did. Our soil is dry, black, hardpack clay. I have had petrol augers not do the job. The Makita ate it up, then asked for seconds. 800mm down using a 150mm auger bit with only 1 relieving movement. Absolutely brilliant.

    I bought the makita auger /drill. So far i have only used it to power a boat trailer winch to pull cars.

    haha i find it hilarious how they sent you two single chargers when they have a double on the market! but how do you rate it vs the 40v makita?

    • @pete_lind
      @pete_lind 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is no difference, other than you need two outlets. Makita double and quadruple chargers have both two single chargers inside. Bosch GAL 18V 6-80 charger has 6 slots for batteries, but only one charger. Milwaukee multi charger M18 PC6, has two chargers for 6 battery slots.

    Wow! cool one from AEG. I have one from Greenworks 82v. Heavy as hell for cordless, but have some decent runtime. I have similar soil to plant in, but way more rocks. At least half of my post holes are made with earth auger and demolition hammer combined. For trees I often do 4*200 or 6*20mm holes, much easier than one or two 400mm.

    The RPM on this is a huge contrast with the RPM on the Makita auger!

    Made a pretty good job considering that stuff that you call soil and the safety switch is not a bad thing.

    If you're struggling with the largest auger can you run it into a pilot hole, say 300 into 200, or will it not pull because the screw tip is in the air?

    Well done though for finding a piece of dry ground in NZ after your recent weather - and with more to come.

    makita should do something like this, where clearly, you could use 4x battery arrangement (maybe 4x or 2x+2x 18v/ or 2x 40v), maybe even above the motor. seems the handle design is key here, but if it was collapsible, it could be stored in not that big footprint (basically just high cylinder).

    Ryobi have a 100mm 18v post hole digger which is pretty good actually. However, I am slowly moving across to AEG but I didn’t know they had a post hole digger too, or I would have bought that instead! Bummer!
