Have you heard of DROP command? If they get off leash you can yell DROP and they will plop down into a laying position and stay waiting for you. It's a command our trainer has been getting me to work on with my Great Pyrenees puppy. It is another option to recall. I was told to teach him both.

Hi. I’m so glad I found your channel. I have a Pyrenees/Shepherd mix puppy. She is getting really bad at biting and jumping. We have been to obedience/training and she did super was even teacher’s pet but now she’s just a monster. She didn’t bite or jump before class but since then has begun this behavior. Do you any suggestions on how to handle her. She’s good at sitting, the leash and kinda stay but I don’t know why she does this. We try to exercise her but man it’s like this switch goes off and that’s it. She get real aggressive. Any suggestions?

Hello! shepherds tend to be pretty mouthy when younger so that typically is a behavior to expect, I own a cattle dog border collie mix and she was a very nippy dog when she was younger so here are some things I recommend doing. 1. If she gets too rough walk away and ignore her don’t give her attention when she is biting. 2. Carry a treat pouch on you that way you have treats to redirect her. So if she starts getting rough redirect her with food and get her to do some basic obedience. You also mentioned that you exercise her which is great I would suggest adding some mental stimulation in there if you don’t already. Shepherds are very smart and typically high energy so providing mental stimulation will definitely help manage her. Some good toys would be puzzle games, you can throw her kibble in the grass and then let her search for it. I also really like the west paw toppl’s, you can freeze her food in them and then give her that.🥰.

@@mellowsadventures8285 hi. Thanks for your reply. I do guess I have my hands full the the shepherd pyranees pup. I have tried the ignoring and it does tend to work but it doesn’t feel like, to me, that she’s getting anything out of that but I guess that’s my issue. Definitely going to stay at it cause she’s stuck with me but I was wondering how did you color the ears and tail. That’s so cool

Hello! I have a 14 week Anatolian Pyrenees mix and he does pretty good with sit and right now I'm teaching him heel (leash manners) he does pretty ok with it but he does get distracted a lot cuz we have a lot of birds ( we live in the woods) but I do practice it in the house as well. I'm also teaching recall which he's having a little difficulty with it, is there any tips you can give out for that? Also any tips on having him stay? He does it for 2 minutes but after that he movies from the sit position

So with recall some tips I have are practice around the house and in less distracting environment. Also with recall you want a really high food reward to use. When recalling your dog you want to make yourself the most exciting thing to your puppy. Things that can make you more exciting for example is when you call your puppies name the second they turn and look at you run the opposite direction as then to get the puppy to chase you. As far as stay i would recommend teaching a place command by using a bed and teaching them to stay on the bed until released this will help get a longer stay, to help keep them in a certain place you can offer like a Kong or a puzzle toy to help keep them In that spot.

Hi I want to know why my Pyrenees bites ? He just turned 4 months

When puppies bite it’s normally because they are teething or over excited and curious. Biting is completely normal for a 4 month old puppy because that is how they explore the world. To keep them from biting you distract them with a toy or end play until they calm down.

My pup was eating gravel ... very bad . The vet said feed him Cottage Cheese , he was growing fast & needed extra stuff to build bones . RE: bite .. the best way to train is non verbal , make them decide they are not doing a good thing >> if they bite , put your finger on the back of his tongue , they won't like that at all & soon learn to keep your fingers out of his mouth . Too long to say WHY >> DO NOT TEACH to shake hands !!! Trust me on this !! Back to dog learns non verbal >> if they jump up step lightly on their back feet .. they won't like that at all & will soon learn that when they jump up they expose their feet to your feet & they might get stepped on . When you do this , don't say a word or act like they are bad ... like every day stuff . Jump up & shake should NEVER be a thing you teach them .

Ha my 7 week old is nipping and biting like mad at about 630pm to 9pm. Very frustrating because there isn’t a signal toy, rope, ball, cong that he will chew on long enough. His attention to toys in good for 30secs then he wants the corner of the table or edge of a rug or couch.

@@thelifescout8335 I went thru this with my Jorge who is now 5 months old. Is your puppy on a daily schedule of nap time / awake time? Puppies require a lot of sleep because they're growing so fast. Jorge is typically awake 2 hrs & then naps 2-3 hrs throughout the day. (then goes to bed at 10:30 & is up by 7am) Awake time consists of time outside to play/train, time inside to play/cuddle/train (very short training sessions, almost like play) meal time & time to chew a rawhide or play with our other dog. If your puppy starts going crazy with nipping or biting simply put him into his crate. Don't say a word. If it's not near naptime, give him a few minutes to calm down, then let him out again. If it's near naptime, just let him nap. This sort of behavior can happen when a puppy is tired out or too excited. Keep trying to redirect with toys or appropriate chew things......he'll catch on, it just takes some time.

Do you have any tips for livestock guardian training

Since mellow is an inside dog i don't have that much experience with livestock training. I would personally recommend checking out Willow Ridge Acres channel! They have great videos on teaching livestock guardian dogs.

All people know what they should teach their dogs what we need is a video showing us how to teach it. My son just moved home with a great Pyrenees and it is the worst behaved dog I have ever met in my life. It is nothing but chaos.
