One thing I like about this franchise is that the twist of the first isn’t just maintained, but made even more effective for first time viewers. No one knew who Jason, hokey mask killer was when this movie came out, because he hadn’t been established yet. Now that he has and is the main killer for all the other movies, newcomers (who haven’t watched scream) are expecting him to be the killer from the start and still get the surprise
Lol love your reaction. I can see why people may be disappointed by the twist because Jason Voorhees is such a icon in horror cinema. I love this movie. I remember sneaking around to watch this back in 1980. This movie was such a big hit that almost every year they made a sequel and it is cool to see how the Jason mythology evolved. I hope u guys react to some of the sequels. I love the first four films with 2 and 4 being my favorite. The first four are the scariest with the atmosphere music and suspense. I like the fifth the six as well as the seventh film but I ride with the first four. Stay safe
The person playing the killer before the reveal hit the light with the axe on purpose to show the audience it was a real axe and not a prop. Anyways, thats how they explained it in that documentary Crystal Lake Memories.
Hey guys, love your reaction videos. You all make me laugh with your horror film reactions. Definitely you should watch Friday the 13th part 2, a bit better than the original. Keep up the good work guys 😎👍
Great reaction video! You are the first one I've seen that actually predicted the jump scare ending. BTW I thought the little blonde girl you drew was an upside down French horn! 😂
The screenwriter for this movie actually watched Halloween for inspiration and also to learn how to write an effective jump scare. Also, the screenwriter did become a soap opera writer in the 80s and 90s.. and if you really think about it, this movie was kind of a soap opera.
That is the thing about some of the older. Horror movies they don't show the killer until. The very end that way it builds up the suspense . So the reveal will surprise you I actually like it. I wish more modern movies would do that. Because I feel it kinda takes away from the movie if . You know what the killer looks like to soon . I'm in the less you know about the killer the scarier they are camp . A nother horror camp movie is Sleepaway Camp . In my opinion one of the best horror franchises is Final destination.
You have a good point. The thing some people fear the most is the fear of the unknown, so not knowing who you killer is or why they kill makes it very scary.
I agree once you see the ending. Of Sleepaway camp your probably never. Going to forget it I seen way too many. Horror movies to remember them all . But Sleepaway camp is one I can never forget. Just the ending alone is indescribable .
yeah thats dumb...and now everyone knows who these icons are and their names so when she says mrs. vorhees you know not to trust her..in 1980 jason did not exist no internet no one knew his last name when they first watched this film..it was such a good twist the way that same year vader saying hes luke's father was ..i miss actual twists that would shock you in movies like that...unless you live under a rock these twists are known now so it loses effect and with action or horror films and mystery thats the best part
This movie wasn't supposed to be a franchise; it was supposed to be a cheap cash in on the HALLOWEEN trend (HALLOWEEN made $100 mil so everybody wanted to get in on the action). So it was a one-and-done "whodunnit" murder mystery, not so much a slasher movie. But when it turned a profit, Paramount wanted more entries so they had to reinvent the storyline so there could be a recurring killer, which is where Jason comes in. After that, the movies were about killing naked teenagers in gory ways which...man, which was part of what made the 80s great. As for the fighting, you have to keep in mind: 20-something white girl born in the late 1950s/early 1960s. This girl has probably never been in a fight in her life and wouldn't know how to throw a punch, much less take one. She also wouldn't have grown up watching movies like FRIDAY THE 13TH and would have no idea how to think her way out of a situation like this, which is why she keeps walking away instead of finishing Mrs. Voorhees off. And they didn't have body doubles for the actors so the stunts had to be safe enough to do without hurting anybody, which is why there's all the wrestling and slapping instead of balls-out combat shit.
Make perfect sense... dang all those facts... we love it and appreciate it... we love learning more about the films and when people drop knowledge in the comments so thank you... and think you for watching our video.
@@SomethingCinema Final fun fact from me: pilgrimages to horror movie locations are a sort of subculture that can draw lots of tourist money. The F13 camp is called No-Be-Bo-Sko in New Jersey and a few times a year they set aside tour dates for fans who want to visit the actual camp where it was shot. And bad things happening on Friday the 13th is the same as something happening on Halloween. 10:20 Girl in blue shirt: "Oh, sis... you don't need to die this early." Me: 😏 12:55 This film had a bit of controversy over that because they killed the snake for real. One of the staff of the film (Tom Savini, I believe) found the snake in the woods and they decided to use it in that scene. 15:36 (SPOILER) It always amuses me how the killer was just silently waiting under the bed while they were doing the nasty. CREEPY, but amusing. 😂 34:55 The first one is Alice in Wonderland (the name of the survivor in Friday the 13th 😀). The second one, I'm not sure.

Y’all should do some good modern horror movies like sinister, insidious or hereditary.
Sadly we seen those movies but I'm sure there are some we haven't seen. Just let us know what other movies you want us to react to and we will watch them for you.
Alice in Wonderland
Yes
You're 1st
10:20 Girl in blue shirt: "Oh, sis... you don't need to die this early."
Me: 😏
12:55 This film had a bit of controversy over that because they killed the snake for real. One of the staff of the film (Tom Savini, I believe) found the snake in the woods and they decided to use it in that scene.
15:36 (SPOILER) It always amuses me how the killer was just silently waiting under the bed while they were doing the nasty. CREEPY, but amusing. 😂
34:55 The first one is Alice in Wonderland (the name of the survivor in Friday the 13th 😀). The second one, I'm not sure.
Thanks for the fun fact! We love finding out movie facts! It’s crazy how killers are always being creepy when characters are trying to be intimate.
