Great content as ever! You’ll love the conversion and you’ll never want anything else in a defender! Power, torque, refinement, fits the engine bay like it’s meant to be there (unlike the tdci), reliability, tunability. Yes, they’re all a bit old now but if you go over them and replace all the bits that suffer with age they’ll keep on going and keep making you smile! I’ve got a late revision m57(n2), tuned up with hybrid turbo and mated to an 8 speed auto in my 110.

I loved the video until minute 9:20 when the angle grinder went into the original gearbox …
I know I know … it’s only metal and for a good cause but still …
Landy Girls and Boys know what i mean …☺️
Video quality is definitely better now … lightning is great and with the quick intersections from you sir, the viewers can follow easily what you and your team are doin and why …
    Like I said before …
Basically a free course in mechanical car engineering … great stuff 👍 including of course that not everything works at the first time !
    Greetings from Germany 👋

PS. When your done with the whole project, please let us know what the MOT inspector said about the build !?

Some really lovely work going on, great video work and I like the 'OEM' ambition. Just so right.
But I have to say my OCD threw a wobblie when you left that fuel filter open to the aluminium dust, engine cleaner and pressure jet debris. I am sure it was just an oversight but I wouldn't want that debris getting pushed up into the BMW high pressure system and injectors.
    Great project though.

When Ive done transplants and had the same issue, It sometimes works dropping off the gearbox x member or brackets and settling the gearbox onto a cradle/jack, just gives you some wiggle room with the alignment. Input shaft a light smear of grease.

have you ever seen those beam things that you use to tilt your engine via the engine crane they are a game changer when putting engines into a defender you just wind it to get the engine at the correct angle i use one and its brilliant,or take the box out put it on the engine then put the whole lot in one go this is what i did with a 300 tdi auto i am doing on a defender was easy.

    • @juicemotors

J/M. Was there any consideration to lift the 3.2ltr 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine from a U.K. 2011-onwards Ford Ranger ? It uses a similar 6 speed manual gearbox which would bolt straight up mista ! V.

    • @juicemotors

Very interesting, will love to see how it performs. I take it that the V-6 motor will not fit in that engine bay. I have two TD-5 powered Defenders, my son has a Defender with the Puma engine. For what ever reason I just do not like the Puma, probably the sound it makes!

    • @cameronwood1994
      @cameronwood1994 ปีที่แล้ว

The JLR V6 diesel (in both 2.7L and 3.0L) will fit in the engine bay quite easily, it's just that they're not cheap because there's a constant demand for replacements when the engines fail. They are ultimately not as robust as the BMW M57 engine, and there certainly isn't the aftermarket support for them conversion-wise.
