Emperor Lelouch here is really one major example of how I can really enjoy his Servant counterpart whilst not thinking very highly of his non-Fate version, considering the latter was legalistic AF, is largely to blame for the loss of so much knowledge from the Zhou Dynasty, and who was only really worth uniting the feuding states for the Han Dynasty to do the actual work in making use of being unified. The dynasty, only made up of him, only lasted FIFTEEN years. That's embarrassing! Same goes for Nero, Mordred, Paris, Medusa (Only Ovid gave her the rape backstory), Tamamo (completely unsympathetic in the original myths), Alexander, Edison, Abigail, etc. Love their Servant selves, am between ambivalent and averse to their historical/mythological selves
Well to be fair, QSH did managed to standardise many things under his rule, although his burning and burying of books and scholars were certainly a huge shame, but there were some evidence that most of the books he burned were erotica so take it what you will lol Nero was controversial because she was an emperor loved by the people but not the nobility, so it’s hard to tell who’s account was correct Mordred in the myths did get a confirmation where the men in his army were a lot happier than those in Arthur’s, of course that doesn’t justify much Edison was a bloody, cut-throat businessman who took any opportunity he could find. Heck, Hollywood is now where it is because they didn’t want to deal with Edison’s deals, whereby he operated in the east Tamamo in many myths is confirmed to be a femme fatale, also famous in one book to have caused the Xia emperor to create a downfall in his dynasty after he disrespected the goddess Nuwa, before being punished herself when Tamamo acted out of Nuwa’s orders Paris’s decision to have Helen of Troy was certainly an idiotic move which really has no justification Etc etc. A lot of the servants in fate seem a lot better by far, although their historical counterparts are either grey or completely different But it is interesting to see how fate interprets them alright
@@Wter-oy1dh You sure the books IRL QSH burned were just erotica? Wasn't his entire deal that, as the First Emperor, history should start with him and thus all records of preexisting history and knowledge ought to be destroyed? It's also why he had the scholars burned along with the books. Nero is DEFINITELY not the malicious figure the Christians paint him as to this day (although I really would like to see Rider Nero/Beast VI), but he definitely wasn't the lucid sweetie pie we all love. He wasn't sane, for sure, but that's due to something in the genes that also made his mother and uncle Tiberius themselves real pieces of work. The choice to blame the Christians wasn't a malicious choice since, due to their inability/refusal to properly integrate to Roman society (their enclosed Jewish-based methods of worship clashed with the more open form of Roman worship, plus the whole inability to accept the pantheon) understandably kind of made them a pariah in the first place. Also, coz it's the season, obligatory PADORU PADORU. In Tamamo's case, at least we have Koyansyaka, who is explicitly the malicious Tamamo that common folklore knows her to be. And Vitch truly lives up to being a bitch, so waifu-fied Tamamo isn't explicitly being revisionist so much as saving the original evil version for something bigger. She IS one of the Three Great Calamities, after all. Mordred in the earliest versions was specifically a bad guy of his own volition, was only Arthur's nephew, and not in any way associated with Morgan Le Fay.
@@reyonXIII no no no I didn’t mean *just* erotica, I meant most were Of course this theory is still disputed because there really wasn’t much records left to tell other than the fact that the erotica that were existing before his reign all just disappeared one day
@@reyonXIII as for mordred, it’s a bit hard but in the original very first text he was true evil And with subsequent works it’s more of “oh this concept seems cool” and was added into the myth afterwards
@@Wter-oy1dh You might have seen Overly Sarcastic Productions' video on King Arthur, which chronicles that evolution of the Arthurian Mythos.
