Let’s also not forget that the punchline for the very first joke of Season 1 Episode 1 was “Jemima’s witnesses”. So, yeah, they set the stage right off the bat and somehow still stayed on air for a very long time
In videos like this, there's always so many comments like "it was a different time", "you couldn't do anything like this now", "people today get so offended", and it's like, you know the show is still on the air and still telling these sort of jokes, right? Not to mention shows like South Park and It's Always Sunny. There were people who were offended back then, just as there are people who get offended now, but overall, it's still quite acceptable to tell off-color jokes. At most you have to be a bit more careful to ensure that you're not just blatantly punching down.

Family Guy and South Park were the definition of hard-hitting humor, but when it came to issues like race, religion, history and politics, under the "crude" jokes there was almost always a deeper layer of reflection about society as an all. In Family Guy, despite having lost quality overtime, (don't get me wrong, they still do some banger episodes nowadays) even the more in-you-face and stereotypical jokes, can be perceived as a self-reflecting mirror, because of how absurd they are the way Family Guy presents them.

I think it stayed on because of the time it was created being just right combined with the fact that it’s a show loved by many. And also this being a 10 minute compilation of the many seasons they’ve had. Along with them joking about all races. Think it just had the recipe to last a long time and entertain everyone with that sense of humor.
Family Guy stayed on the air for two reasons: First, they made fun of everyone. Nobody was exempt. Second, and most importantly, people got that it was a joke. That they weren't using the stereotypes to make fun of people, they were using the stereotypes to make fun of the stereotypes themselves. South Park was the same way, nothing was sacred and everything was a target.
The show isn't promoting racism, it's showing how stupid racism is while making us laugh. The audience isn't laughing at other races, they're laughing at racism, because it's clearly stupid.
Important thing about being able to do comedy like this is actually being good at it.
