    Shark teeth don't need to be strong, they change teeth regularly and eat meat, so they have to be sharp, humans just change teeth once in life, so it has to last as long as a human life time.

      They are very strong. It's just that the Steel was harder than the tooth and the surface area of the tooth was so small at the tip progressively causing the material below it to pulverize.

    It's a bummer to see that the shape of these objects are not allowing proper distribution of the pressure. The more pointed the object is the more load you get on that touch point and it will crack before it can allow a more even distribution; and obviously it won't withstand nearly as much pressure.

      That is the problem with having malocclusion when you bite. When a dentist asks you to bite down on articulation paper they are testing your cusp tips to make sure they are in the right occlusion to distribute the proper force of your bite so you don't crack your tooth. That's why it's important to go back to the dentist if your bite does not feel correct.

    Shark tooth aren’t made for being strong,sharks change them frequently,also their teeth are made for slicing and cutting,not for crushing.

    Was expecting the shark tooth to be stronger?.

    • @csmmv8411
      @csmmv8411 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason they are so weak is simply because of how powerful their bite force is, they have tiny pricks in their mouth as they bite down with the weight of a car, to put it simpler… a sharks bite is like falling from the top of a 3 story building onto a giant floor mat with spikes as big as your pinky, or imagine someone dropping a car with spikes on the bottom onto you, what I’m tryna say is, they make up for the brittle teeth with bite force, plus they replace their teeth all the time, humans teeth need to be as strong as they do cuz we only replace them once in our life, so they need to last the rest of our life, unlike sharks who literally loose teeth every few hours and regrow fresh ones.

    • @csmmv8411
      @csmmv8411 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yea and that doesn’t really make sense because molars have a wider base than shark teeth, shark teeth are actually stronger but since they are thin it can still break easier, like spider webs, they are as strong as steel but break easily cuz they are thin, unlike actual steel, steel is just as strong, but thicker so it’s gonna require more force, so just cuz something seems that it’s not as it seems, doesn’t mean it really isn’t how it seems..

    surely you should work out what the forces are based on area touching the press, because the shark tooth has all the pressure on a tiny point.. meaning its actually a lot stronger than just the number you are showing in the result.. ie pounds per square inch... the force of a bite of a shark would be more than the force of the bite of an elephant even if the elephant has a stronger jaw because the shark is biting on a point & not a flat tooth... etc etc (also the age of the tooth is to be considered... things become brittle over time.. human bones are stronger in an alive human than when dry... )

    • @lucaskunze
      @lucaskunze ปีที่แล้ว

      The comment i was searching for, not the first one, that the others already mentioned, but the second, that considers that the tooth was not alive anymore, and probably not in the same, nor in approximately condition compared when it was into shark's mouth.

    I feel like it’s worth noting that the shark tooth is not modern, rather it’s a multi-million year old fossil tooth. Basically the ones mined in Morocco and sold for a few bucks. Can’t imagine that not being a strength factor
