"I had to stop trying to fix my wife to accommodate the thing's I needed to fix in myself. " That resonates. It works both ways. Very insightful brotha. A true jewel. I'm keeping that one.

Many Black males carry the "persona" of being a man, but actually are not. I am a Black man of a particular age and happily married (almost 13 years). I, too, had to evolve from a male to a man in my marriage. I had the degrees, career, home, and financial stability when I married. Those were goals of a boy. I became a man when I began to understand myself thru my interaction with my spouse over the years. The fighting was not about us, but about me. I began to look at myself spiritually and emotionally and that is when I became not only a man, but the man that my spouse (and family) wanted me to be in the beginning.

Omg!!! My husband and I both came into the relationship broken. He wasn't raised by ANY MEN, mom was a drug addict and his grandmother over Compensated for that. I came with women bossing their husband around bitter being cheated on just sad all around with a dad that left and remarried a woman he met 6 months after leaving my mom.🤯
We are now married 11 years and when I say its hard? We've changed soooo much and learned so much and need more to continue our journey! I watch this and think to myself they need our story cause our story is not bliss but it was destined.
I just love to feel that we weren't alone because through it all physically we were, we didn't have any support BUT GOD.

I needed this I was meant to be a wife but the man would not commit he didn't see this with his own parents until his mom gotten married years ago. Met someone who watched married life and look up to his parents this is the difference between a male and a man....I dated a male for seven years but I met a man who knows about relationships and having a marriage and family life. One isn't the bad guy he wasn't taught the importance of marriage but the other one is taught is why I fell in love with him so fast because he is a man.

Come through with the analogy Melissa! I adore her. She really reminds me of myself. For the most part I'm soft spoke, and at times people take it for granted. I'm not passive-aggressive, but I will speak my mind. And when really necessary ill give you the buddies. Not everyone is used to that, but that's not my fault. Why is it okay for you to be open, honest... speak your truth, but when i do it 'I just went off out 9f nowhere.' Wrong... I'm telling you something you don't want to hear, but again that's not my fault. I don't need to be loud or embarrass you in front of others to get my point across. Just don't be rude to or disregarding of me.

Amen and amen 🙏. I am delighted when our black community can discuss messages of hope for our black society through these media . Excellent discussion and great and positive energy flowing

@7:00 Thank you!!!! I've been saying something similar for years. There's a difference between a guy and a man. I fully appreciate your saying these things. Amen! Gender does not = manhood. (Same goes for women.)

I was inspired by the show to have gathering similar to black love live format. I was planning it for april and Covid hit and shut everything down. Now I'm re-inspired to try again...maybe next year. Love seeing this!
