I like. the demonstration of the firing group at the end, allowing the viewer a look at how the mechanism works.

looks like with your FCG if the trigger was held down after firing it would hold the sear out of position to connect with the hammer which will just follow its way with the slide, or possibly even turn fully automatic
+megadeth22885 That trigger is only for the test rig. In the firearm, the trigger is connected to a spring loaded trigger bar. As the slide cycles, a cam type lob pushes the trigger bar down as the hammer and sear are reset. The trigger then has to be released to re-engage the sear. I don't want an auto feature:)
thats good then, im designing a .25acp target/small game pistol myself and considered making it hammer fire, but i found it just too easy to machine out the bolt for this pistol (itll have a fixed barrel/upper like a ruger MK) to use a glock striker assembly
im going to try to get a 25rd double-stack double-feed magazine into it

+Ethan Earley Yes, good point. I thought about trying this format as I work through the build. What you're currently seeing is usually less than 2 hours old. My plan is to append them all together in one master video with a firing sequence when all is done.

A properly working magazine is 1/2 the reliability factor in any gun.
man that's a nice design.. I can't wait to see the slide.. will it'll be a simple blow back right?
or is it manually operated lop I guess self loading not semi auto.. that is awesome.. do you think you could modify the design to handle blow back pressure or would a solid lower frame be needed.. I don't plan to make one just wondering.. I figure something like a simple blowback tube .22 would be possible.. somewhat like the unknown cats.. or mike a ruger mark pistol

+Banana potpie The slide is one place where I will slightly depart from the plans. I can't see laying down a weld bead on the frame and then grinding it into a rail. Seems a bit too crude.
+Clint Westwood hmm yea.. that'd maybe wear fast.. I can think of a few different ways to achieve rails for this design.. one is to leave tabs.. somewhat like the metal inserts in a glock frame.. on the outside frame plates that you can bend to create rails.. or.. like on an ak and weld rails on.. but you might all ready have ideas.. these are just my thoughts..

I'm having trouble seeing how this ll work in a semi auto.. the trigger seams to be going the wrong way?.. it is there no trigger yet.. I'm trying to figure a legal trigger. that won't go full auto.. i don't see how yours works tho.. :/
+Banana potpie You're correct.This setup does not reflect the final trigger setup. This was a visualization exercise for me. In the pistol, the trigger is connected to a trigger bar which hits the sear. It has a corresponding "bump" on it that interacts with the bump on the slide. When the slide is being moved/blown back, the bumps move the trigger bar down below the sear allowing it to reset. No auto function will be allowed.

I spent the rest of the night looking up triggers just so I could figure this out.. :D.. lol I realized after looking at videos, diagrams and pictures that the slide would have to interact with the trigger somehow to disengage the bar.. after the 3 1911 video I started getting the idea.. :)
+Banana potpie It took me a while to figure it out by looking at the plans. The thing I don't like is the very large slot I have to cut in the frame to accommodate the trigger bar. I'm waiting as long as I can on that step to see how I can minimize it. I suspect I won't have to go quite as aggressive as the designer did.
+Clinton Westwood is there anyway of welding or screwing on support metal on the outside of the frame to keep that area strong?..

Hey I am making the same pistol. When winding the torsion spring for the hammer I felt like a little 90 degree angle could be bend to fit where the compression spring for the sear sits. any reason doing it this way and eliminating the compression spring on the sear wouldn't work?
I think you are describing what I worked out. Did you check out the photo log?

Question of material thickness lol
I have to admit I skipped through this and just laughed watching the trigger group set up on the board. LOL what you,re doing is making a subgun there is no disconnector in that group. If you build this thing thinking you will pull the trigger and get one shot you,re going to shoot yourself or someone else ,unless you extend the barrel, make a foregrip to keep control of it. I didn't watch video beyond that point, anything you would actually use should be at least 9x19mm . A more efficient subgun system can be made from plumbing supplies, great hobby project though but I will just keep myself legal and if shtf I can make traps FAR MORE EFFECTIVE than making an under powered heavy low capacity something that creates lack of confidence in me, I would rather make a 12 GA water pipe single shot that requires almost no tools for shtf,
You they have to show more patience a watch the rest. There is a disconnect bar, but I was also able to design the firing group so that no Auto would happen.
