Thank you for this awesome video. About 7 months ago I was looking for an upgrade to my cherished yet dated GPD XD+, went with the RG556 and I curl up with it the way people curl up with a good book. Playing my all time favorite PS2 games again on a hand held completely blows me away so much that I upgraded again and tomorrow my Odin 2 Pro Rainbow variant arrives. Even with the Retroid Pocket 5 and Odin Portal about to drop, I still went with the Odin 2 Pro. It's one of those very rare hand helds that was so well designed and built in every way that it'll still be relevant years after its specs have been made obsolete. It's an absolute masterpiece Android retro hand held device.
I also ordered one yesterday but now I noticed that the Odin 2 Portal releases next month for the same price and I already regret my purchase. An OLED screen would've been really nice.
I don't feel that way at all. It's IPS screen is gorgeous, and I have 500 of my all time favorite PS2 games easily running at 3x upscaling with the LED's rocking a killer Mace Windu purple glow. Holy crap do I love to play this thing, and the Rainbow color scheme is so clean.@@poppers7317
@@poppers7317 You can always just return it for a refund or sell it on ebay, especially this close to Christmas if you'd really prefer the Portal instead. I'm still setting it up, so for now I'm just running GooglePlay games along with a custom SD card library of 480 of my all time favorite PS2 games. And just that alone is still so much, and so much fun to play. The last thing on my mind is whether or not I should've waited for something better. The Odin 2 Pro plays and renders them so beautifully at 3x upscaling without even breaking a sweat. The 6" IPS screen is gorgeous, the controls are perfect, it's so comfortable in hand, it's the perfect size and the sound is incredible. And wow does the Rainbow variant look so damn clean in person.
I'm glad they are coming up with more refined and locked in designs and have a very pleasing aesthetic. The 65w charge option is fantastic, and the hall effect triggers and sticks make it sound premium 😁
This is stil the best android emulation handheld out there, hell still the best emulation handheld honestly. Makes orher options feel lacking and amatureish when it comes to software and hardware design.
It's worth noting that the Odin 2 is not google play certified so while you do have the play store, you will run into occasional issues. One example is Wreckfest won't work. Another example is Afterimage, which is ported to Android on the play store but doesn't load on the Odin 2. (The copy I creatively acquired works though. I did buy it first...)
The one being displayed is actually near $500 not $300. $200 is a big jump and I can't find any videos out there showing the limitations if the base model, it's always the pro ($70+ more) or the max.
Just pulled the trigger and ordered the max which arrives tomorrow. Fairly new to all of this stuff so I really hope that it's still the top dog 😂 If it has been overtaken can someone give me a heads up. I have 14 days to make up my mind.

Double check that you're using high performance mode, I didn't realize I was just on performance mode and there's a dramatic difference after the change. Also, try looking up the compatibility sheet for Odin 2, sometimes there are settings options listed for improving performance (there's a link to the sheet in retro gaming corps' setup guide).

There's nothing worse for a gamer than getting a device then having to spend 3 hours trying to get emulators to work properly. If you enjoy playing video games more than waiting for stuff to load and reading through instructions online, then avoid Android based handhelds like the plague.

@@tazmo2237 I think I’m also going to go for the rainbow one! Just wish the base model came in different colors as well.
@@CherryBlossomFlowerI agree, I like the black, but I always seem to go for black electronic/gadgets, fancied a change this time. I’m from the U.K. so the rainbow one has that SNES nostalgia factor for me 👍
NO! gray is different!! cold gray is DARKER.
Saying click and not squishy 500 times? Great work.
can it run Darkwatch at 60 fps?
It can! I have it at 3x resolution and it plays smooth.
@@jeremytamayo2538 with 60 fps patch? Wow. Please can you record a video? That is crazy
@@jeremytamayo2538i have it on 4x res
Just ordered my odin 2 pro rainbow!
Do you think this is worth getting if you already have the Nintendo switch ?
What for? To play other systems?
I have both. The answer is an absolute YES. Except for switch games, I use my Odin2, including going on TH-cam and anything else my phone can do.
Its funny....
This video was clicky, but not squishy!
What settings do you use for hit and run ? I have the Odin 2 pro and get constant frame drops / stutters . Thanks .
Can you guys teach me how to play Controller input on unite mobile?
$370 ?, screw that
I really wanna just see them make it a normal high performance 8" android tablet tbh
great video but the camera shaking is making me sick...
I think it's actually the ibis on my camera on the top down or the static shots?
@@DaveyG seem like both? It looks similar to how OLED screens do pixel shifting.
But could also be the very minor vibrations that transfer through the desk shock mount to the camera? It only seems to be apparent when you're moving so I feel like it might be something to do with the vibrations or it could be the autofocus from your camera shifting the focus in a weird way?
This video is the first one I've seen from your channel I watch some older ones to see if I notice it on the other ones.
But other than that this was a dope video.
I'm caught between buying an Odin 2 or the OneX Fly..
I feel like the battery trade off is worth being able to emulate everything including PS3/Xbox360/Wii-U
Thanks for this video.
I have a logitech g cloud and it was great so far but i hit a sudden roadblock that killed my love for it. And no - it was not the performance
The big issue is that it uses fat32 format which means you will have issues dealing with filesizes over 7gbs (which coincidentally is anythint after gen5) and since i wanted to migrate my switch games (which i own) yo g cloud it was virtually impossible.
So here i am, spending 350 on an odin 2 pro. I decided to go black because my fingers get sweaty and i would mess it up
I like more squishy than clicky personally.
Must buy 😊
My dude playing that stretched out version of windwaker. Get you a gecko code or a patch 💀
Those damned ninjas!
Before you buy the Odin 2 for 300, ask yourself why you waited to buy one already. Literally no reason not to unless you prefer Windows.
Or unless you want to play ps3, wii u, pc games ect.. That being said, I'm waiting for delivery of my Odin 2 😊
@@wiggygfe I already play PC games on my Odin 2. Winlator, played a chunk of FO3, mass effect, HALO CE. Little limited in newer titles, for the next month or so.
Long as no ones a moron and buys a mainline handheld from Asus or MSI or some other dumbfuck late to the party corporation. Ayn already made the best Windows handheld a year ago, then followed it up with the best Android handheld. And we win.
@@Charagrini have gamepass on my odin 2 runs perfect only modern games i want to play is on there . I dont even care for most switch games either but the ones i do have (scarlet/ mario kart 8 , mario wonder runs Perfect
@@Rebel_Gettaz Hell yeah bro! This new generation of hardware unlocks EVERYTHING for free. Why buy x game from Ubisoft when some nerds made a better version for free? or you can just emulate, which is quite literally NOT piracy. You are emulating an entire discontinued console, not "just" software. All these pretend game companies that just sell access to their hardware are fudged. Nintendo. Sony. Microsoft....
5:05 you could just play hot pursuit via "switch" if you "own" the game
Nah Nintendo is scummy. It's always ethical to pirate their content.
I want to play the new ark ultimate survivor edition with the odin 2 😁😁😁
PS3 ?
clicky and not squishy infinite looping in my mind...lol
The goal 😂
I want to see the ayn odin 2 lite, i think it will be a exellent complement to the steam deck.
I need it❤❤❤❤
Before I buy? Bullshit I already ordered it.
I think that you're a fan of clicky and not squishy buttons...
No OLED or AMOLED
NO DEAL
RG556 HAS AMOLED
Take a much much weaker device for a different screen. Smart
Wow I want a steam deck please
👌
BEEFY
Beefy, and clickey.
Clicky and subcrippy
There's nothing worse for a gamer than getting a device then having to spend 3 hours trying to get emulators to work properly. If you enjoy playing video games more than waiting for stuff to load and reading through instructions online, then avoid Android based handhelds like the plague.
Got Mine 3 weeks ago. Took me Like 5 Minutes from unpacking to playing the First ps2 Game on it.
@milanvranjesevic4789 my boy's a wizard!
So disgusted that Genshin Impact does not have native controller support on Android.
It truly makes no sense why all these companies want to just bypass controller support on their android games when they are well aware that we have controllers that are compatible with Android.
