    OMGosh!!!!!!!! I DID IT! THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART! I started at 12 PM and did not finish until 10:40 PM, of course there was time for lunch, dinner and kickboxing. But man, this is a task for someone who is either computer hardware, electronic, lego-mind savvy since there are a lot of parts. I had to break a lot of tabs, figure out various alternatives (problem solving), and made good use of aluminum tape to patch or replace factory tapes. Remember, we are suppose to be opening these units so some of the pieces I had to hot glue back.
    I plan to do a complete review with pictures.
    After all the hardwork (Homeschool TV Repair Project), it worked !!!! "Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

    Good vid! Thanks for providing the step by step. I wish they'd make this a little easier if the manufacture knows they don't last forever and will need replacement.

    I followed all these directions, mind you I'm pretty handy person, I run a handyman business. Anyway I can see the LEDs are working but now I've got no picture at all. Before I had blue picture. Any ideas?

      I had the same issue, were you able to resolve it?

      @@cgifo Yes, the optical (wide thin) cables wasn't fully inserted into the port.

    Help! 2 wires going to the strip came out of the connector going to one of the strips. How do I know which is positive or negative?
    I also had to remove the backlights after installing them because I did not place them correctly. I used a backlight tester and they all work individually but how do I know if they work correctly all together?

    Great video, helped me a lot. Where can I find replacement Standoffs? most of mine broke when I removed them.

    • @xanos3001
      @xanos3001 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, it is not show in this video but, you would have been able to pop them from behind. Some standoffs were not reachable because the electronic boards were there. I had to break those as well. I just HOT GLUE back in place, why, it is the most secure way to put them back - "just a little dab will do it".

      @thingsido2924 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, yeah after I broke many pulling them out, I realized I could have simply pushed them from back, oh well. I ended up just taping them in place.

    I don't see any Telefunken TV tutorials, and my Telefunken is a 50 inch with 14 leds per solid strip... I can't seem to find spares as well... Do the led strips have to be original??

    Thank you!! following your video and a couple more from other creators I was able to fix my lg 65um7100pla using a new KIT of lights bought from aliexpress...

    It would be good to note to Mark where the LED strips will go. And to just pull through the standoffs as most of them will break.

    I have a purplish, violetish color on the screen of this same exact model. Do you think replace in the LED strips would help? And if you think so where can I buy the LED strips from?

    • @xanos3001
      @xanos3001 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say yes. SONY was the Blue Tint, any tint issue should be resolved by the LED replacement. See my main comment above.

    What are the little devices called to grip the screen that you used?

    • @shopjimmy
      @shopjimmy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! Those are suction cups that we manufacture to make it easier and safer to remove the TV panel. You can purchase them on our website: www.shopjimmy.com/super-strong-suction-cup-lcd-led-tv-screen-panel-removal-tool-set-of-2/

    • @xanos3001
      @xanos3001 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, use the ones sold by Jimmy, they worked best! They are large enough for the bigger screens. The cups can be used for various other projects in the house/life.

    I have a Vizio e601i-a3e, yes it old...but doesn't get used much, so I would rather repair than buy new if possible. If the TV hasn't been on for a while it will come on and sometimes work fine for 10 min, sometimes longer. Sometimes it seems to flash a little bit and then the screen will eventually go black. Sound is still on and I can see things on the screen with a flash light. It will turn itself off after the screen turns black. I can continue to turn it back on it it may work for a little while, bit the duration seems to get shorter every time. No lines or anything else wrong when the picture is visible. Would this be the T-con board?

    Firstly Thank you for this very well done video!!!.....i had this done last week by a pro and when viewed on a solid color background (white of grey) there are horizontal streak across the whole screen and some part of the screen are darker smudges . My question would be if the backlights are replaced should not the screen look like new or are the streaks not related to the backlights? Another thing the PRO said was that the Power supply had to be 'upgraded' but it was not actually replaced......is this a ploy to get more money it made me wonder... i paid 600$ CAD for the LED replace if anyone else had this done i would like to know if the cost of repair was reasonable.

    Another question..... The LED on this particular Sony model had turned Purple , i have some much older Monitors that never lost their clear white glow... Does SONY used mediocre LED ?

    Toshiba 40L310U 1. Dimming in one corner of screen. 2. bought a new TV gave the dim corner TV to next door neighbor. 3. Year later, neighbor informed me TV finally gave out. Black screen, flashlight test showed faint image, haven't tested sound yet. Leaning towards bad backlight strips.
    My question: how dangerous is trying to fix on my own for the first time. Confused about grounding.

    How exactly did you remove the ribbon cable? You didn’t show that really well, I’m stuck trying to disconnect it

    • @xanos3001
      @xanos3001 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, for this pain, I had to detach the ribbon on both sides. There is a thin black part that you need to use your nails to pop upward then the ribbon will come out. In order to place it back, you will need to make sure that you align the tiny tiny notches then pop back down. It is very delicate. You can do it! I did it, just take your time!

    There seems to be a big 2-piece crack in the lower part of the TV's panel. Even if it's scratched, it's garbage for me!
    It didn't test either the old led bars or the new led bars immediately after installing them. Also, at the end of the video, it could not show that the TV was working. Or did they use junk television to shoot video?
    Still an informative video, thank you.

    My KD 70x690e, developed a constant blue tint all over the screen. I lowered the blue to zero in advanced settings and helped a bit but it is still there very much. My question is if I replace the led strips will that solve my problem?

    • @joefair4677
      @joefair4677 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s likely to. The factory strips in this particular TV commonly have the LEDs start going out and producing blue splotchiness.

    Anyone else have their TV completely taped together inside completely unlike this video? We tried to remove the panel like the video shows, and it got caught on a bit of cloth tape and broke the display.

    Cfl lasted a lot longer all these led sets seem to be is ewaste lucky if you get 4 or 5 years use out off them

      Kinda sad considering the LEDs themselves have always been touted as long-lasting. It’s typically the electronics driving the LEDs that goes out in electronics, but these are driven so hard for high output that they actually burn themselves out…

      There was some parts on their TV that were already taken apart and tape removed... so when they are pulling off the part attached it appeared easy. You will have to remove some of that silver tape before it comes apart. I didn't go slow enough at around a 1:34... the scene cuts off... there is more work to do. Just take your time with that part... I broke a piece off thinking it just comes off
