Thanks for this! I am going backpacking soon and am debating between a zoom lens with low aperture, or a fixed like this... I have a canon m50 mkii, with the default kit lens. Will this and that in combo be enough?
Same camera and settings gets me a white blob. It's not PITCH black here, but I'm in the outskirts of a small oil town, so the sky itself is always a little brighter because of all the lit up oil pads off in the distance. So I messed around with shorter shutter speed, then a lower iso, still a white blob, just not as bright.
Okay., Thanks for this video., This video felt more like a beginner friendly than the other video you suggested :) And that star trail you said -- i found it annoying while using a 50mm lens .,
Check out the Sigma ef-m f1.4 prime lenses. They have 3 focal lenghts at this aperture - from 16mm to 56mm. F1.4 lets in double the light that f2 does, so the ef-m lense lineup actually has quite a lot of options.
Thanks for the video! Just ordered two of them :-) Just so wife and I wont end up in a fight over one lens ;-) And after Cannon killed the M series, the lenses are hard to find.
Thank you for a very useful intro. I really liked it.
Thank you!
Another great, concise video. The sense of encouragement and possibility you convey is quite special Chris.
Good video Chris. Very clear and inspiring. Best of luck from Hamilton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks, you too!
Straight to the point. Great
Great photos. The f2 22mm is a powerful little lens in a small package and good price
I agree!
Oh wow, I’m gonna buy this lens and you just said you’re in Saskatchewan, I’m in Saskatchewan so this camera lens is a must.
Yes I am! And you will love that lens, so small too!
I wouldn't have remembered to turn the camera on. Thank you for that.
Ha ha thanks for watching!
I recently got this lens. I can’t wait to use it at Joshua Tree. Thanks for the video Chris!
Hope you enjoy it! Thank you!
Good video, thanks, Chris!
Glad you liked it!
I am going to try some available light photography again.
No waffle and straight to the point. Good job Chris. Is it hard to make a living in Saskatchewan? I might move there is the future
Thanks! And no it is not.
Thanks for this!

Yes it should and it is small. Have fun!
Good work. Thanks for the info!
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for this, can I also ask what focusing method you used for milky way photos?

Nice Chris!
Thanks!
Chris what software do you use for editing? The free one from Canon or something else?
I use Lightroom, and I use the free one that came with the Mac laptop.
@@attrell thank you! Also, what are your thoughts between using this lens and the sigma 16mm for astrophotography?
Chris, I'm noticing a bit of LIGHT on all the subjects in this video. Are you pointing a light?
Yes I am! Just a flashlight
What kind of light are you using in background? And dose one have to use a light for night photos?
A flashlight and no you do not.
I love my canon m5 ( slightly different than m50), I just wish canon had made more lenses for the m series, they are awesome cameras.
On amazon, you can get an adaptor.
rf7 has ibis say goodbye to efm system
