Well the original ending of the old version fits Willards character arc more an makes more logical since.The ending here is fine but it dosent feel totally right for the arc of the character.The ending here is kinda like its gonna start all over again.Not so much leaving it open for a sequel but just kinda like going hes gonna be right back to were he started.On its own its a great movie as a remake of the original its pretty good not great but a pretty good remake.
He did I actually prefer his version which version you prefer is truly a style choice both movies are honestly neck an neck in quality.I actually just watched the original right then an its actually in my opinion not as much stronger then the remake as I remember it. It was still great but other then the ending I honestly now do think the remake might be slightly better im gonna watch it right now since I just watched the original an compare again.Its been a while since I watched them back to back.

I could have sworn when I first saw this that Ben lived and Willard died. I kinda liked that ending better. Ben was an animal just trying to make his owner happy. Willard was the messed-up one. Ben should have lived.
Bc she realized he was responsible for Marvin's death. When she tried to get inside to help Willard the cops stopped her and asked her if she wanted to get eaten alive then to best stay away then she whispered to herself "Marvin" realizing that the rats must have been the ones that ate him to death.

@jean-claude schwartz maybe, but I meant this film is actually an origin story to a batman villian called, the ratcatcher, imagine if there was another tim burton batman film, I bet willard will break out of arkham asylum, and become the rat-catcher and wear a left handed freddy kruger glove, and a gas mask with red tinted lenses, to fight michael keatons batman, right?

That ending is not very realistic, the truth is I don't know how Willar got out of that pile of rats alive, it was impossible to get rid of it.

King Trell Yes there's a scene where Willard ends up in the mental institution after he murders ben cause the rats where trying to kill him.
