Wilder was a proper slink at Boro, it fell to bits quite quickly. He didnt put the burnley speculation to bed at all and only had one way of playing. He shot the players under the bus after every defeat, i remember once he said 7 individual mistakes led to a goal conceded. At what point does the person in charge take some responsibility. I think he looks after number one and our club was toxic in the end and a lot was due to how he conducted himself. Hope sheff utd start picking up because the premier league is almost a closed shop now, it would be good to see them compete.
@neilt1889 we don't spend much coin now lad and we haven't since Monk spent 50 million on shite. Gibson is all over FFP and we spend very little. This year our new signing cost few hundred grand like silvera n Rogers. We spent maybe 7 million on Dieng n Latte Lath but our days of spending big are long gone so I think you need to check your sources of information. Any championship team with no parachute payments can really spend now if they follow the regulations, unless they take a massive gamble hoping for promotion. If it wasn't for the money I would be more than happy to stay in the championship, better away days with a few big allocations. The prem is nice for me grandkids to see salah or whoever but it doesn't really interest me, I suppose you could argue what is the point then but it is how it is mate
@neilt1889 part of the reason wilder left was he wanted to buy players over 30 for decent coin to play one or two years to get us promoted. The people above him didn't agree with that policy as they are trying to get young players cheap and sell at profit. We defo don't spend a fortune
I’m a blade and I agree with Simon. He did act like a baby at the end last time and looked to blame everyone but himself. It actually was quite upsetting because I love Wilder but I wasn’t having his criticism of the chairman. Hopefully he’s learnt from it. Our fans still dig the chairman out now and I don’t get it. We were struggling in league one when he got involved. If Mcabe had remained we’d have carried on selling players for peanuts and had zero success over last few years. It’s amazing how quickly a little bit of success makes fans entitled and how every bad run is blown way out of proportion and that is at all clubs. A few years back there was city fans calling for Peps head because they lost a champions league final. Probably a minority but you get my point.
CW had already tried to leave SU and when the Board didn’t let him go he pushed things to the point where they had no choice but to get rid. So giving CW what he wanted- escaping having a relegation on his record
I'd love Shef Utd (and even Wednesday) to do well, proper fans unlike the plastics that infest the league - that being said, I can't see how bringing a man back with so much baggage and mixed history with the owner will turn things around. For their sake, I'll hope for the best but fear the worst...
I have been a Blade (Sheff Utd) fan for 48 years I have seen the best years and the worst. I never wanted Heckingbottom as manager in the first place, but I gave him a chance and he got us up, so fair play, but it has been awful this season, he is clearly out of his depth and I wanted him gone after the Newcastle game and I made that clear in the fan groups etc. I also said as much I will never forget what Chris Wilder did for us, he gave us some of the best years, but I can't forgive on the way he walked out on us because he threw his toys out over the owner taking the purse strings away from him. Wilder bought some poor players and the owner realised they were bad signings, the defeats we got in the Premier League Wilder blamed everyone else, that I do not like. I do not want Wilder back and its because of one good reason ' What has he done since', he has been sacked from Middlesbrough, he was released from Watford. The fans have to take sentimentality out of it. How many times have we seen managers return to the club they once managed, it never ends well. We can't attract world class managers I accept that, but if we appoint Wilder we are going backwards, I hope I am wrong, plus there is no word as of yet that he is coming back, there are other managers out there, but please we don't want a merry go round manager or an inexperienced manager, its going to be hard, but one thing Sheff Utd do is they make the same mistakes over and over!!..we used to be a club that every team hated playing against because it was always a tough game, Bramall Lane was a fortress, we need that back, give us our club back and the owner if your going to sell then do so please we need an owner with ambition.
Wilder never got the signings he wanted if you remember he got second fiddle cus the owner wouldn't pay we wanted Ollie Watkins Matty cash and antonee Robinson but because we have a bog roll prince and not the real cash injection we need we got second string players instead of first choice now imagine if we got who he wanted
Agree Wilder walked away after securing his compo and he has only gone backwards since. Heckingbottom looks like a bloke who's had a breakdown the way he has allowed the team to play these last few weeks but I would much rather Warnock came back than Wilder he has maintained his standard throughout a very long career whilst Wilder's has tailed off.
So Wilder fell out with this owner because of the lack of investment, slagged him off publicly and now he's coming back to work for the same owner with even less money to invest....is this for real ? 🤣
Have I been in a coma for the last 3 years, or have we all forgotten his last months at Sheff Utd, then stints at Boro and Watford? Am I missing something here?
Got to say as a Sheffield United fan I wasn’t happy with him coming back,I’m speaking after the Villa game(1-1),but he has restored pride and passion to the squad, something that went missing under Heckingbottom and to my surprise he’s not a one trick pony,is tactical awareness has been spot on in all four games he’s overseen, it’s going to be hard to survive but we blades fans are all behind him👍⚔️💪.
At Watford he called out the owners( who I like by the way ( and he was right to do so ..he said the club needed a cultural reset and it happened.. always respect Wilder
The question is flawed. You can have an opinion on Wilder's behaviour and the owner can still take him back. If he is considered to be the best option at this point, then the owner can choose to bring him back in the best interests of the team.
I think Simon is right- the end was not pretty. And I think Wilder was right- he stood up against an owner who has proved to be pretty questionable to say the least. Wilder was correct to disagree with the owner’s plan and insist on more- that’s where Heckingbottom has been weakest. Wilder knows what’s best for his/our club. We’ve got almost an entire squad out of contract at the end of the season, and last year had a transfer embargo. Someone needs to look after us, because our owner isn’t doing it properly. The owner is playing the Glazer game- “I want to sell”, then turns out it was all a bit half-hearted and he wants to retain a level of investment.
The Chris Wilder appointment seems to be causing as much controversy as a VAR decision. Warnock was my preferred replacement till the end of the season but it seems Wilder is back and for United it's obviously all about winning that mini league at the bottom of the Premier now, it's not to late and the Blades fans at the very least will be expecting fight with the determination to go out and win games ... Let's see. SHEFFIELD UNITED FC ⚔️ THE BLADES ⚔️
Well said simon jordan..ive been following the blades over 40 years and did not want to see wilder back in charge ..never a premier league manager in a million years
I didn’t want Wilder back at Bramall Lane…eating a massive slab of humble pie now.Done a great job in revitalising a club on its knees after a sh**tshow of a season. He’s been shrewd and done it with loans, frees and not a massive influx of fee played players. The club is showing a healthy profit on transfers this season.
Sheff Utd shouldn't have been promoted in the first place after breaching EFL regulations, but the EFL were happy for them to go up so they didn't have to deal with it.
Do you know what rules they broke? They didn't brake any rules it was just that they owed Liverpool a instalment for a transfer.they sorted it out with Liverpool. End of matter no rules was broken
Jordan knows f all about the Blades or running a football club...he took Palace into administration and the knock on for service companies to Palace would have been devastating, I wonder if any of them went out of business or had to make redundancies because of Jordan.
I'm a Blade and I agree with Simon a bit here. Wilder made the same mistakes that Hecky has made. Say what you want in private, but never say that your squad is not good enough in public, otherwise your players believe it and play that way. We know our squad this season is not great, but it's not bad enough to be destroyed every week. Hopefully Wilder has learned his lesson. I personally wanted Warnock.
Jordan definitely in love with his own reflection and the sound of his voice 😂. But I strangely like him even though he is full of himself. I do disagree with a lot of what he says. But he does have some logic to all his arguments. I also find him funny when he gets on his high horse. Like him or hate him got to admit he is entertaining 😂.
Jordan is completely right Wilder is a very toxic manager. All he ever does is throw anyone else under the bus when things don’t go his way. I still remember when he went for Dean Henderson for a fumble against Liverpool. Probably their best player they had with them at the time. Also he was fairly young especially for a keeper. Was key on getting them promoted. And he slated him for one mistake. But through the season was a key reason they finished 9th that season. Also in that game made several amazing saves. Wilder always try’s to make it how great he is.
I’m sorry but both managers after wilder complained about the exact same things he did including hecky about the training ground. It’s not just the players there were leaks in the training ground roof, the training pitch was a state. Since 3 managers have complained these issues have been fixed Simon Jordan doesn’t know anything about Sheffield United
Basically he behaved like a spoiled baby and spat his dummy out, everyone else's fault but his own after the team had gone past the point of no return. How on earth they think he is the right man to keep them in the Premiership is beyond me.
Chris shouldn't be bothered by what Simon thinks of him, instead he should concentrate on more positive things, like he must be so proud of his son Deontay and what he's doing in Heavyweight boxing.
Wilder and the Poundland prince had a big fallout due what the prince wanted in the clubs setup and have Wilder only manage the 1st team and Wilder wanted to sort evertrhing out ie contracts etc .
Maybe its just that its not about coming back to fix things with the owner and no he wont have any money to spend, but maybe just maybe its about coming back to help out and being the manager of the club he loves and that its all about football (not money). And maybe he feels he has unfinished buisness especially with the fans and his legacy?. Utb!!
I think jordon should meet the gaffer . Cus I think wilder would belittle the plumb throat tosspot Yeah he ran a club . But never been a manager of a 1st team. Wilder and like anyone else would want more and more to get better . In chris I trust. Simon Jordon couldn’t run a tap never mind a football club
