I started playing this with my friends at school but I only understood half of the rules and the other half just got out of my other year but I will watch this so i can understand it fully thanks for the video 😊
I know this is a 3 month old video but halfway through this video I immediately ordered my deck. Question! If I buy 2 decks can I add more players to the game or would it kinda mess up the flow of the game?
Just received my two decks today from Japan! Can’t wait to start playing! I had to learn how to play this game by watching Japanese youtubers and translating Japanese 😛 but it’s nice to see instructions in English as well. One question: if I have number the hero and protection on my hand I have to play the protection card. If the other player has the emperor and another card, if he plays the emperor does this mean that my hero is protected on the next round and the emperor card’s effect is not valid?
Awesome! I'm glad to see more people getting into it. As to your question: you are correct. If you have the hero, you MUST play the other card you draw, no matter what it is. In the case you mentioned, if you use the protection card, no other player can use a card against you until the end of your next turn. So even if your opponent uses the emperor, its effect would be null against the protection card. It would be a much better move for them to use their other card (since it will be rendered useless against protection) and save the emperor for their next turn.
Hey James, thanks a lot for the great introduction video! I have two questions about the rules: 1. If I use death (5) or the execution ability of the second shounen card (1), and I choose to remove the hero from my opponents's hands, so reincarnation should activate and my opponent should take the card in the middle to his hand. Does it means he should return the other card in his hand back to the deck and shuffle it? 2. If I use (1), (5) or (9) execution ability on my opponent when there are no cards left in the deck (i.e. the last turn), does it means that nothing happens (i.e. the ability is automatically canceled, because the opponent can't take a card from the deck) thanks!
Thanks so much! To answer your questions: 1. From the official rules: "If a player (with the hero card) drops out due to the power of the Death, the Soldier or the Boy card, discard all existing cards in hand, and then take the reincarnation card to return to the game." So no, don't reshuffle any of those cards, just discard them face-up on the table like you would any other used card. 2. You are correct. If there are no cards left to draw, all players show their card and the highest number is the winner. Great! It’s a really fun game. Thanks for watching!
This game has some similarities to Love Letter. Great explanation, thanks.
The creator of Xeno even stated he took a lot of inspiration from Love Letter when he made it.

It would probably mess up the flow because the amount of each card type is very intentional, but it might be worth a try! Thanks for watching! ✌🏻

@@JamesLovesGames thanks for the answer!
Does your card game have a theme song? I dont think so
Hey man, nice summary. Have you played COUP? This sounds very similar and I'm wondering how this really differs.
Thanks! I have never heard of COUP, but I know Xeno is loosely based on a similar game called Love Letter, if that helps at all.
